Good food and great portions
There is a huge menu to choose from and everything our party had was really good. If you are ordering starters and mains make sure you go in hungry! They also did a great soup takeaway for lunch.
Pappy’s reminds me of the Black Eye Pea, back when Black Eye Pea was actually good. Everyone seems to like the chicken strips, so I tried that. Fries and a salad with ranch. The strips were pretty good, although not very crispy. The gravy on the side was very good. Fries were average, and the salad was pretty basic.
Pappy's is our go-to family place. Good value on most items - kids love the place. Good service and friendly staff. Our faves are fried catfish and fajitas and an Ice cold IBC rootbeer with frozen mug to wash it all down.

Love this place! The atmosphere is just perfect. Makes you feel comfortable. Staff is friendly and food is always hot and delicious. Only flaw for me.. I don't love their chicken fried steak, but everything else I've tried has been really yummy!

Food was DELICIOUS!!! I had bacon cheeseburger and he had chicken fried steak with Mac n cheese. They also brought out samples of the shrimp grits, baked potato soup and tortilla soup - ALL AMAZING!! Definitely a pit stop to make between Houston and Austin!!
Great greesy spoon with LOTS.... Great greasy spoon with LOTS of fried things on the menu. Good food, average service, reasonable prices, and no trendy wannabees! Nice neighborhood cafe/bar without the attitude or cheesiness of a chain.
Very dependable burgers and fired baskets. Chicken strips are one of the best things on the menu, served with gravy for dipping. Fried catfish is reasonable for a "non-seafood" place. Good old fashion nachos, each individual nacho on the plate rather than a pile of chips and the toppings DUMPED on the top of the mound. Salads are "OK", but then if you're look for a salad, Sweet Tomatoes is about 200 yards east on the feeder road. Believe it or not, they make some fairly decent Mexican Plates.
If you're looking for healthy keep driving past and head to Movable Feast just down the freeway.
Home cooking-yum yum good!. Decided to take our son here on Memorial Day as we headed back to Fort Hood, where he is stationed as an Army Soldier. Awesome, home feeling! Waitress was wonderful, her Southern accent was perfect for this place. Food-chicken fried chicken-huge! Chicken Fried Steak-so big my son couldn't eat it all! Fried Pickles-favorite of mine! The gravy had flavor and was so good! This will be a place we return to! All in all, wonderful experience!
I did not expect to get one of the best if not the best Cesar salad I have ever eaten there. The food never disappoints me. Service was great but I know when they are busy it can be spotty.
Pappy's has been around for decades for a reason....the locals love it! Friendly, laid back atmosphere, tasty burgers, and good ritas! Really pretty bartender on the weekends! She's got beauty, brains and a sense of humor! Go see her!
Absolute best burgers in town!! Incredible buns, fresh hand formed patties cooked perfectly everytime. Now if only the fries were better
The service there was nice. We like the Naked tails and waffle fries. The steak was good and it was grilled perfectly as I ordered. It’s a good choice for anyone who is seeking for a predictable and nice meal. The portion was pretty big and it’s hard to have a room for dessert if finishing all of them. Careful with the portion of food when ordering.
We were pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant so close to our home. It is diner type food, focusing on Tex-Mex and catfish and other items. There is just about everything on the menu. Salads, steaks, enchiladas, catfish, sandwiches, burgers and more. I had the blackened catfish. It was cooked perfectly, served over rice and I chose french fries and green beans as my side. My husband had the Texas enchiladas which were very tasty. There is a bar here so you can have a drink. Although we were happy with water. There are also lots of desserts which we did not try because we were stuffed from our lunch. Lots of seating, so don't be dismayed if the parking lot looks full.
Came in for the CFS and loved everything they had. Appetizers, Mushrooms and Onion Rings(thin strings which I love) were delicious, salad was good sized, and as expected the CFS was outstanding. Service was great and we sat in the bar area. Several big screens to watch and some great local craft beers on tap! Highly recommend this spot for a great meal!
Came here over the weekend for the Chicken Fried Steak and I wasn't disappointed. First time for us to visit, all the food was very good, including the apps. The Chicken Fried Steak was about avg for sure, The restaurant is clean and the service was good. Will definitely be back and try some other items.
Chips and queso was really good. A tiny bit spicy for me, but not my husband.

Really liked the decor and atmosphere
Had the Friday special blackened bone in pork chop. Smashed potatoes and cream spinach. Chop was cooked perfectly and everything was delicious. Can't wait to go back.
Amazing vibe, great service and fabulous food. We have ordered steak and bear and it was fantastic. Reasonable prices is a plus.
I will definitely come back again. Everything was great old American country cafe but so nice to eat and relax here. Food was all great only one thing missing in all... Salt to enhance the flavor besides that it was good will come back. Oh and bathrooms were very well kept with is always a good sign.
Heard they had good Chicken Fried Steak so had to check them out! Was not disappointed at all! Gill was a great server, took good care of us.
Pappy's is an excellent place and I have been going there for years. They have a great selection of different types of food from Burgers and Chicken to Fajitas and Wings. Everything is good there. My youngest daughter's favorite before she turned Vegan was the California Chicken Sandwich and my oldest daughter loves the Burgers. I enjoy the Chicken Fried Steak/Chicken and the creamed spinach and Broccoli Rice Casserole sides. They also have a great bar!
