We were celebrating a birthday last night! We had loads of appetizers, huge entrees and left at the end of the meal full, happy and with TONS of leftovers for another meal! The atmosphere was fun and up beat, the food was hot, fresh and yummy! Really great experience, we will be back
First thing i noticed was the note on the door that indicates the meals are made to order so not the place to visit if you are in a hurry especially since there is also limited staff. But the food was DEFINATELY worth the wait. My first time visiting was on a Sunday for Brunch with a group of about 15. It did take a while for everyone to receive food but all food was hot, accurate and in large portions good for sharing. Can't wait to visit again when I am close to the area.
OMG. The food was soooo good. Each meal was worth about 2 plates. The gumbo was delicious and I am picky about gumbo. My favorite was the chicken and red velvet waffles. I tried their sticky chicken, which was also delicious. Their lemonade and sweet tea was sweet, but no complaints from me. Can't wait to go back!
OMG!!! A friend on Facebook told me this place, Viola & Agnes' New Soul Cafe has the best gumbo he ever had at a restaurant... and I have to totally agree!!! The rhou, the chicken, Andouille sausage, crab and more was very delicious, esquisite taste, and well seasoned. I also had the Crawfish and Shrimp Etoufee very delicious as well. My son had the Honey-Butter Bacon Chicken Sandwich. Our sides was collards greens, red beans and rice. There was a nice crowd on a late Saturday afternoon and we had to wait awhile for our food, but I guarantee you it was worth the time. The staff was very courteous and nice with a atmosphere that was very authentic, pleasant and cozy cafe. Definitely going back again soon! 😁
How can food this good be this good? Seriously. The catfish was so delicious today I wanted to bang my fist in a wall. Mark twain supposedly said that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. Well, I say the best fried catfish in Louisiana is in this little place on NASA Road One. I have never ever ever had a bad meal here. It is one of the best places for gumbo and the challenge is usually do I try something new or stay with something that I already enjoyed? Highly highly highly recommended. I would rather eat here than some foam and powder molecular gastronomy place with $100 price tag.
I was brought here while visiting a friend. Delicious, well seasoned food. Good portions at a fair price. Cooked to order, so make sure you are not in a rush. Love the sauces. Appreciate the self serve tea and lemonade. So good....I ordered sticky chicken to go! Yes, to the fried okra. I will make the trek back soon.
Viola and Agnes is the best creole Cajun restaurant in Texas!!! Period! If you have not been you’re totally missing out! You may have to wait a bit for your food but it’s so worth the wait!!! The gumbo is amazing with incredible flavors. You get so much meat that you’ll have to take it home!!! We’ve had pretty much everything on the menu but today we went with fried catfish sandwich with blueberry coleslaw. Whew oh my word!! Delicious. It’s so good y’all that we drive from Cypress to go this restaurant! Go!!! You won’t be disappointed!
The food here is absolutely phenomenal! Very slow paced but super chill spot. They have a stage area that I would love to catch a live show here some day!
The food is seasoned to perfection and was everything and then some 🔥🔥🔥. Faves- gumbo, beef cheeks, butter beans, fried chicken, and fried shrimp.
Please bring your patience because service is a little slow, but it’s so worth the wait.
We were staying down the road and found this restaurant almost by mistake. As New Zealanders we were new to creole and the team were so helpful. We met owner Aaron who went out of his way to give us a great experience. The Gumbo was full of flavour and I still don’t know how a chicken leg can fit into a cup with crab! The Catfish and shrimp was beautifully crumbed and we adored the homemade corn bread that came with the crawfish and shrimp. The flavours were full and varied. Not mouth numbing spicy but still the right blend of flavour, spice. Quantity was a lot (thanks for the takeout container!) Sometimes when you travel you stumble across an awesome eatery that is memorable. This was one of those places. Thanks Aaron and the team, your Grandmas will be proud.
