Review Giacomo's Cibo E Vino - Houston

Food and wine are great here! The meatballs for appetizer were delicious and I liked my tortellini dish. Only complaint was that the Giovanni didn’t have much chicken in it and tasted a little bit like an Asian dish. Still tasty, just not what we were expecting. Everything else was fantastic and we’ll visit again!

Great restaurant for the price. High quality Italian food with small homey feeling inside. Would recommend and will come back. We split 2 apps, 1 main dish, dessert, and 2 wines for $80

My favorite restaurant in Houston. The wine list is incredible and priced so fairly. The bolognese is my favorite, but there are so many great dishes. The tortellini is delicious. An amazing mix of cold and hot starters. The service is always outstanding. Make sure you make a reservation. Wonderful dessert menu that's sure to satisfy any taste. This is delicious Italian food done right and I'll visit every time I'm in the area!

Amy, our waitress was so wonderful, kind and had such a sweet energy :) She was really caring and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied and happy with our meals. She even brought us a scoop of their new gelato flavor to try! I believe it was blackberry which was really good! She took the time to recommended us the best food and her personal favorites on the menu. And they all tasted amazing! I forgot some of the exact names but we got the steak and potatoes, garlic bread, and tagliatelle giovanni pasta!! It’s was sooo good! Me and mom said it was one of the best parmesan pasta dishes we’ve had at a restaurant Seasoned and grilled well. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Amy so much for a wonderful experience! We enjoyed our time with you. You’re the sweetest! Wish you happiness:) - Tera and Carmalita

I made it a point to eat dinner here before moving out of Houston next week. Best. Decision. Ever. We were able to be seated immediately at the bar since we didn’t have reservations. Our sever was very attentive and thorough. The garlic bread on grilled ciabatta bread blew my mind. Trike delicious and a must-have. I love that there is an option to do half orders on some of the pasta! I had to take advantage and ended up getting to try three different pastas! Never had an experience quite like it. They have an extensive wine menu as well! The parking lot is rather small and located in the back. Definitely recommend making reservations! We hope to visit here the next time we find ourselves in Houston!

Dinner crowd on a cold front evening translates to reservations are highly recommended. If you don't mind the chilly outdoor patio, a few upright heating options were available in the patio. The wind gust negated that warmth generated yesterday evening.

Nicely lit front and back patios, bustling inside seating, as well. Decent amount of parking but might have to park on the street. Bathrooms are clean. Food was overall fantastic - really enjoyed hawk's bread, halloumi (which we didn't realize was used in Italian cuisine until now), and tagliatelle. The veggie dish of Brussels sprouts was also wonderfully flavored and tender. The porchetta was a bit too salty for our tastes and wasn't a great complement to the other dishes we had.

If you want food that looks aesthetically beautiful and tastes as good as it looks, Giacomo Cibo e Vino is the one! I think I literally ate the prettiest fettuccini in Houston. They have so many AMAZING small plates! The meatballs are the best! And the service is excellent!

The food is spectacular, spot on! The service AKA Amy, which was exceptionally outstanding! She is very helpful, always smiling, and made my first visit an exceptionally pleasant one. We will be back! Oh, I forgot to mention the lump crabmeat shrimp risotto left me completely speechless! Wow!

Came to this restaurant for date night and it was a wonderful experience. We didn't have a reservation and luckily they were able to seat us. The waiter was extremely friendly and prompt with us. He went over the specials for the day and the wines. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and an appetizer. The shrimp appetizer was very good with a sauce that was perfectly crafted for it. For our main courses we got the fettuccine special, which came with shrimp and it was heavenly. A very refreshing summer dish that was well balanced and had plenty of shrimp in it. Also got the tortellini in cream sauce and these did not disappoint. The cream sauce was very good and the tortellini were filled with a mushroom mixture that was delicious. We left the restaurant stuffed and very satisfied. We will be back to this for sure.

So happy to find authentic Italian food in Houston! The carbonara never disappoints and the wine selection was amazing. We also had the pleasure of speaking with the owner who was so kind and passionate about the food and service. Definitely worth trying but I recommend making a reservation for dine in service, they are busy for good reason!

What a hidden gem! Our first time! Hawk’s garlic bread… oh yea! Refreshing salad. The bolognese was a perfect savory with a very tiny echo of sweet from the awesome meat sauce. The portions are Very generous. Service was top notch!

Just perfect. High level of food without the pretentiousness. Somehow perfect for dates, fancy dinners and casual. Service is great as is the vino. With all the choices we have in Houston I rarely visit the same restaurant twice, but we come to Giacomo's every few weeks.

Cute and homey kind of vibe for this place. The food and service was pretty solid throughout. The Gamberi Al Diavolo was delicious and very flavorful. Not too spicy, but just enough to keep wanting more of (and to dunk the baguette in). The Gnocchi Alla Romano was probably the most underwhelming of the dishes as it did eat a little on the dry side. The Tortellini with Parmesan cream sauce was pretty good, but the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese was the star of the pasta dishes we ate. Generous portions of the sauce/meat and perfectly cooked pasta. Being able to order half portions made the entire meal even better. Would definitely come back here.

Lovely food, amazing wine list, and excellent service. You can't go wrong.

Server was a little slow to get to us at first, but we had arrived when the restaurant was very busy. They were very attentive and helpful for the rest of our visit. Food was excellent! My wife is still talking about the Tortelli Di Bietola hours after we left.

Excellent. Food. Service. Highly recommended. What to get? Bruschetta Classica (excellent), Tagliata de Lombatello (good), Linguini Giacomo (excellent), Pollo Giotto (excellent), Orechiette Giorgione (excellent) and Chianti Classica is a good fruity red vine with a nice bouquet.

It is a very comfortable space - the lighting is fairly bright but the service is friendly and the menu is diverse. Not where I would go for a fancy Italian dinner; definitely stay for dessert because their dessert menu and wine list is superb.

Unsung But Very Good

Service is always friendly and helpful and food is very good. The small plates are often excellent, particularly the vegetable dishes. There's both indoor and outdoor seating.

My vehicle was broken into in their parking lot while I dined. When I reported this to them, their management team was unpleasant and incredibly, spiteful. If you like smash and grab, you'll love Giacomo's. Horrific management.

Amazing lunch spot!

They serve little dishes so you can share them with other people.

Food has always been fresh and tasty.

The place is clean and staff friendly me helpful.

Definitely worth checking out if you have never been.

We have been there multiple times over the past six years and have never been disappointed by either the service or the food. Not the usual pasta and meatball place but a restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. Hot and cold small plates are available plus entrees of varying complexity. One favorite for all the years has been the minestrone - a soup that eats like a meal. A friendly place that can be noisy when it's busy but the food makes it worth the din. Well worth the visit.

Absolutely delicious. We treated it more akin to a tapas restaurant by slipping several appetizers and one entree in an effort to try more dishes, by far some of the best Italian food in Houston!

Charged $7 for 2 oz pasta with no sauce.... Ordered additional pasta to finish remaining sauce and they charged me $7 for 2 oz of pasta with no sauce.

A formerly great restaurant has changed its approach making for a horrible experience.

It used focus on neighborhood regulars with a waitstaff that had time to explain things. Approach now seems to be toward a large party event destination with the consequent deterioration in ambiance from friendly and cozy to impersonal and deafening. Sad to see.

Dinner, 9-5-12. This is one of the worse meals I've had in a long time. We had 3 orders off the tapas menu. The wait person also had an attitude. I won't go back ever. I loved Lynette's La Mora restaurnat. If she keeps this up she won't be in business much longer.

Mmmmmmmmmmm good. Best meal i think i've ever had!! ordered the trout and the brussel sprouts and they were divine. my husband ordered the lamb meatball pasta and the lemon tart for dessert. reasonably priced, excellent service, pretty garden area and the food, a long way from Katy but worth every mile!

Amazing food-great authenticity-awesome Italian wines!

Definitely unusual, still very kid friendly!. It's hard to find a restaurant with a large selection of lamb and cabbage dishes, but you will find such eclectic food here. Prices at first seem steep but they encourage people to buy one entree and share, making it a great place to bring the whole family!

Besame Mucho. A foodie GEM! I have only been twice, but i will be back - again and again. The two entrees ordered (pollo guido and trota alla garfagnana) were both wonderful - oh and the basil butter sauce on the chicken is really good - even mopped up with some of their terrific baguettes. and the veggies area also really good. The prices are higher than what some would want to pay, but the quality and taste reign - in my humble opinion!

Fantastic service! Wonderful food. In fact, its incredible. Strange decor but overall a very good experience.

We were on our way to another restaurant recommended by urbanspoon only to fine it closed. Ended up at Giacomo's and glad we did. This was the best Italian I have eaten in a very long time. It's now tops on my list for Italian which has now outbeaten another favorite we had in San Francisco. Our waiter recommended a really perfect wine to go with our dinner. The food just melted in your mouth. And to top it off dessert was to die for. We will definitely put this on our list for our next visit to houston. Greate date place.

Not a fan of the concept, price. This place is tasty but not worth the high price.

I went here for lunch today with some co-workers and ordered the Chicken Panino, creamy potato soup, and an iced tea. My total was $18! I was shocked. The food was good, but nothing too exciting.

I was really drawn to the cold vegetable appetizers that they had at the counter, however each one cost $5.50, and the sampler cost $20. You'd think they'd come us with a sampler lunch platter that was under $15? I think many people would like to order that.

I may go back with my boyfriend and share something.. that may be a better deal.

Wow! The entire meal was such a pleasure. I had the gnocchi with gargonzola and mushroom sauce, and it was beyond fresh and delicious, it was heaven. The waitstaff was great, the ambience was perfect and beautiful. I can't wait to go back!

Wonderful! Amazing!

Yikes!. My family has been huge fans of Giacomo's...our favorite dinner spot for months...we just found out it is now wait service at night...we sooooo wish the best for Lynette and the restaurant but this is a huge barrier to the casual weekday dining experience we have had before. tragically sad...

Good food, interesting concept, bizarre management. lynette is a weird one and the asian manager is inappropriate

Being a brit in Houston i love the erstaurant scene and have enjoyed the Italians in town but this has moer of a European style to it. If anyone knows the Carluccio's chain in London it has a similar feel, only better. better in that is an independent restaurant and has a very independent feel. The food is delicious - my wife had the tomato papardelle past which was perfect, very fresh and tasty, i had the steak which was unusual but also very good. The beef has a very strong flavour though so best to accompany it with a full bodied red wine.
There was better to come.... the coffee ice cream was unbelieveable!
Another tip, in response to the other review re overwhelming choice... sit at the bar. That way you get table service and the brilliantly friendly waitresses will give you all the help (and time) you need.
Great spot before heading to the cinema.
Love it.

Ken. What seems like a very new concept to Houston is a big winner. Small plates or a wonderful entree with flavors that are out of this world and a reasonable choice of vegetables makes this a winning restaurant for me. Prices are right as well.

I'll be back!. I don't know Lynette Hawkins, but she should be applauded for a great concept. Great to share a tapas plate or have a panini and a glass of wine. My only complaint is ordering in line and being overwhelmed with the choices. I guess I will just have to go back and make more choices!
Rhoda Spuhler
A great twist on in-and-out. Once again, Lynette Hawkins has put together a winning restaurant, this time with a fresh take on in-and-out, all day dining.

The decor is really fun. The location, convenient. And, the Gnocchi di Funghi is to die for!

... I wanted to highlight one of my favorite restaurants for comfort food. The past couple of days (weeks, months…) at work have been long, occasionally grueling. Though I wish I could say it was exercise, my antidote to stress is usually food. But since I don’t have time right now to make my own comfort food, I seek it out in restaurants. The food at Giacomo’s Cibo e Vino has all of the markings of what people call “comfort food.” It’s warm, simple, made from scratch, and consistently great tasting, just like your Mom’s grilled cheese would be. I’ve never met any of the chefs at Giacomo’s, but I can’t imagine anyone making this food besides a little Italian grandmother, with floured hands and apron. The atmosphere of Giacomo’s is similarly comfortable – No white table clothes, helpful servers, and brightly colored walls. Oh, and I can’t go without mentioning the very comfortably priced wine list. One of the homiest plates that I’ve tried is the Po
