Review D'amico's Italian Market Cafe - Houston

Hector Salazar
Ordered Chicken Asiago, a delicious breaded chicken breast stuffed with cheese and spinach, opted for steamed veggies instead of the spaghetti with meat sauce as the side dish. Service is superb, a very professional and courteous wait staff, eager to make your dinning experience the best. Great ambiance, clean restrooms and dinning area. And the desserts....OMG!! Sinful! Lol. D'Amicos is a great restaurant for any occasion, any day. Treat yourself!

We ordered from the catering menu for a holiday party we hosted. The food was delicious and all of the guests raved about the lasagna. Thank you, D'Amico's, for helping to make our party a success! It was a great experience from the ordering, the pickup and the wonderful meal.

Food was amazing! Staff was super helpful and friendly. Definitely will be returning.

Great restaurant! Good coffee, but pizza is not tasty.

We were in town for business and could not be happier with the choice our Houston representative’s made on choosing to have dinner at D’Amico’s. I would be there on a weekly basis if they were located in North Texas. Food was outstanding and authentic with impeccable service. All around great experience! Thank you Adrienne!

The waiter was very attentive and made our time here pleasant, including providing an extra chair for our young friend’s dolls 😂 There was a good variety of dishes to choose from even though my wife and I are vegetarian but not vegan. We stayed there quite awhile since it was a kind of reunion, and we were never pressured to wrap it up, although the free parking has a two hour time limit and at least we made that in time.

Lunch specials are always a hit here. I always forget to take photos. Servers are friendly and approachable and the food is so good! Cozy vibes and homey atmosphere. The lasagna and steamed mussels are top! Also make sure to order a coffee because their espresso machine is great. And the gelato! Proper gelato!

Rudy, the manager was an absolute delight to talk with. Our serve Renee, was on top of our service 247 and was spectacular! The food and wine was delicious, you couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere or place to grab a romantic dinner. We had the Riesling, Gnocchi, and fettuccine Alfredo!

Cream of asparagus soup was marvelous. I had the chicken braciolentini. The sausage and cheese filling was great. Yvonne, our server made our evening complete. Her attention to our needs went above expectations.

Great time tonight at D’Amico’s. Great food and service as always.

D'Amico's has been my go to Italian place since December 1977. I've always enjoyed the delicious food. I cannot even imagine why anyone would write a negative review. Obviously those customers had misplaced anger issues that were felt by D'Amico's and staff. I'll never understand why unhappy customers take it out on waitstaff.

I have been going to this restaurant my whole life. The food is amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant feels like I am in the Italian countryside eating an authentic home cooked meal. I could eat here everyday because there are so many options. The service is great and I appreciate all that this restaurant does for the community.

Great Italian food in Houston. Atmosphere is meticulously curated and you'll be excused to believe you're in Italy. Portions are good just enough to save some room for deserts and (good) coffee.
Chris Coronado
A pleasant atmosphere with very good entries.

Really enjoyed my outing here! Drinks were pretty good. The food was great, as was the service. I would eat here again!

Nash’s establishments have been fantastic since I first started going in Galveston. Great Italian.

Courteous and helpful staff ! The fried calamari was outstanding as well as their salmon almondine! As a point of great service, the young waiter suggested to split the main dish since we started with appetizers and that their portions would be enough for two persons ! Ii thought that was very decent and would qualify for customer care! The wine was excellent and the portions were well served! Kudos for the staff and owners!

Great food in an awesome location. The food was so good and we had a great waiter. The rest of the staff was awesome as well. I would definitely recommend.

I’m a New York expat, and I think this joint has the best food with an atmosphere closest to Mom and Pop neighborhood restaurants of the northeast. Sometimes the service isn’t lightning quick, but that’s okay, it’s great food in a comfortable setting.

We have going to D'Amico's since our son was a little guy - he's now 26! He has grown up knowing Rene and Terri and the rest of the gang. We go eat at this fantastic place for several reasons - consistantly great food and wonderful and friendly staff. Thanks D'Amico's for a great place to meet friends and family for a phenomenal meal!

I seem to always go there with special friends, some local and many from out of town or out of state. It’s just a very special place for me with great atmosphere, great staff, and outstanding food. Quaint little market as well. Nice little gem in West U.

Antipasti plate was great; huge, good flavors and fantastic price; the Pasta (both) were Ok, but nothing worth mentioning; location is great, nice staff

We had lunch here back in December while in town for a visit to MD Anderson. The food was amazing, olive oil was the best I'd ever had, very attentive waiter, excellent gelato and a truly wonderful cappuccino. Can't wait to dine here again when in town. Will be soon so looking forward to it!

Had the lunch special, you choose 3 items from a very good list for the day. I had meat lasagna (sub for the chicken lasagna because they ran out) chicken parmigiano and strawberry cheesecake gelato. Very good, will definitely come back.

Absolutely wonderful food and great atmosphere. We sit on the patio every time we go and it’s always a great experience.

Absolutely incredible! Fast, great service. Awesome and affordable specials for lunch M-F. Highly recommend!

I've been here one another time but decided to give it another try. VERY small restaurant, that someone bumped into our table spilled our water. When we asked for help our waiter was no where to be found. We asked a different waiter for a rag, she handed us napkins. Our waiter finally came to take our order saw us trying to clean up mess & still didn't bother to help or take the wet napkins. When we finally got our food my husband's Spaghetti was very cold. We send it back for them to warm it up. There was 5 in our party & the only person that liked their dinner was the one who ordered a salad. Will never go here again.
Joseph Martin
Excellent service who advised a beautiful glass of wine and a delicious lunch dish. Crawfish ravioli was amazing! Will def be back soon.

Best Italian I’ve had in Houston....... actually best I’ve ever had. It’s a must try.

My boyfriend and I are I love with this place. We have been three times now and ordered Different dishes and were not disappointed. Our waiters were polite and I felt like I was back in Italy just enjoy good wine and food.

Friendly staff and fabulous lunch specials Monday through Friday. My coworkers really enjoyed the lunch & gelato on our recent visit. The Nash pizza is a must 🍴

Went here for the first time last night. My husband and I split a caprese for an appetizer, and we both ordered the gnocchi as the entree. I got mine with pesto sauce, and he got his with marinara and sausage. The meal was excellent. There was plenty more on the menu that we want to try so we will probably come back here often. They also have gelato and they sell freshly made pasta too.

One of my favorite stops in the Village had a bad night (on a slow night). Waiter seemed a bit new, but a miss by his support staff to bring a glass of water, my dinner salad, mussel starter (on time) and waiter-recommended ravioli (on time) became a joke. Saddest notes were food quality could of been high, but the delays and loss of preferred food temperature at serving made the overall experience an "oh-for". The meal did close with a comedic moment when a smiling supervisor stopped to ask "was everything fine?" -- this only confirmed a disconnect last night between waiter, support staff, kitchen and the managers tasked with assuring every paying customer leaves looking forward to the next return.

The absolute best

The best Italian outside of Italy. I have been a fan of D' Amicos ever since he was on Westheimer and then Galveston. His Chicken Braciolentini and Asiago are to die for.

Just had a great experience at this restaurant. Terri was our server. She was friendly, courteous, and gave prompt service. Our food was delicious. I ordered the lemon seafood pasta and there was very little left on my plate, after I devoured almost every bite! My husband ordered linguini, meatballs, and red sauce. He was very happy. We split a cannoli and had espresso and cappuccino. The restaurant serves house made biscotti with the coffee, and this was delicious, also! Prices are very reasonable and there’s plenty of food. There are booths, 4-tops, and bar seats. Serve beer and wine. Wine menu offers by the glass, as well as bottles and half bottles. I’ll go back for sure!

If you are like me and work in the field (meaning not in an office or inside a building) or you are someone that goes out every day for lunch, then you are most likely always on the lookout for good lunch spots. For some that means somewhere that offers daily lunch specials, for others, it’s special lunch priced menu with smaller portions. Well, D’Amico’s Italian Market Cafe has all that covered! They are part Italian deli and imported food market, and also a full service and to go restaurant. For over 20 years the D’Amico family has been serving up Northern and Southern Sicilian cuisine in Rice Village.

They had me at Amarone. Crawfish ravioli was delish, as well as the stuffed poblano peppers. You know the minute you walk in, you are in for the real deal. My favorite meal in Houston hands down.

This place falls in the "too cozy for comfort" zone for me. It is almost claustrophobic being inside. The place is always bustling and throws the feeling of being at a Italian home. The place smells delicious and they make their own pastas which is a major plus.

Bruchetta 👍👍👍
House bread 👍
Gnocchi Toscana 👍👍👍👍

Wife had salad with eggplant parmigiana last night spaghetti and calamari for the main course. Within an hour very very sick. Was throwing up.

Though in all fairness I have to say we really enjoyed the food at D'Amico's, the service was attentive and very friendly, just remember if you’re a small eater to bring 2-3 stomachs with you!

Low quality food. We went in on a Monday night, early 5:30, and the service was great!!!
I ordered the Bubba salad, and it was horrible, it was a pile of lettuce and pepper, loaded with only pepper no dressing.
My husband the Eggplant parmesan and it was totally undercooked, it was raw and covered in oil and tomato sauce, worst he has ever had!!!!
I had the Osso Buco and it was supposed to be served onto of Risotto and instead it was plain old white rice.
My meat was still cold and frozen and blood visible, the fat on the rim was nasty.
We paid and left, I used to love that place and the Owner needs to be there and try his undercooked food.

Awfula. My husband and I went for lunch. The service was terrible. We ordered a siciliano panini and a mediterranean salad. The panini had mozzarella, tomato and prosciutto on it. It came out with grill marks on the bread but cold inside. The cheese was not melted. It was like eating cold mozzarella and tomato salad. The Mediterranean salad had lettuce that was old, dark and wilted. We left most of the food on our plate. This was our first time here and we won't be back and I would not recommend coming to anyone else.

Fettuccine was extremely bland and the Muffuletta was served burnt! (As shown in photo)

Such good food, service and staff, one of my favorite places. Their pasta w crab is to die for!

D'Amico's is such a gem! The only bad thing about it is deciding what to order! My kids love to sit at the counter and chat up everyone around. And, we always leave with a bag of sausage!

Customer for 27Years. We have been going to DiAmico's for 27 years. This was the worse meal we have ever had and Nash was there and all he did was give excuses. People didn't show up, too many customers, can't explain "sorry". Didn't even offer to comp meal. Had to send mussels back came out cold then
When they came back there were no mussels in three of the shells. Don't know what was happening with Nash, but he basically was just in an apology mode and not in a customer service mode. We are not going back. Carrabas is our new Italian restaurant. It's a shame, we have never complained in the 27 years we had been going there, but we're treated as if we were just passing through.

I went to dinner with the rest of my family, and everything we ordered was fantastic. They have some of the best white sauce I've ever tasted, and their chocolate mousse cake is by far the most delicious chocolate cake I've had! Highly recommended!

Good food, real food! Straight forward menu, reasonably priced. Good service in a relaxed setting.

Love this place. I brought my wife here on our first date. The food is fabulous and service is always wonderful. This place is great for lunch too.

Yummy & delicious.

Charming, Yummy. My boyfriend and I had a late night dinner here and were floored by the excellent hospitality, decadent food (I had the Tortellini Genovese; he had the Chicken Marsala), and great wine recommendation.

Frankly, this was the most fantastic Marsala I've had to date--and I detest Marsala.

We made an evening of this experience and closed the place down. Food this good is meant to be savored. Go for the food, stay for the atmosphere. Don't rush a good thing, baby.

Great! Can't wait to go back!. Stumbled upon this place when other restaurants that we wanted to try were closed on Sunday...and boy were we glad we did. Menu is quite extensive, so we checked Urbanspoon before ordering. I'm not a huge mushroom fan, but reviewer said the Wild Mushroom and Walnut Tortellini was amazing. They were right on! My husband got the Veal Parmesan which was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Gellato for dessert was super. Next time we visit Houston, we will visit D'Amico's as well.

It's like a smooth moving, fast paced eatery you see in the movies. The food was great, too!

Not a fan. I went here with my husband for an early dinner. i had the pizza diavolo and he had the risotto. neither were good. his risotto was so heavy he didn't eat half of it. as for mine, i would have been more satisfied with a personal pan pizza from pizza hut. i really want to give it another go, but i doubt we'll return.

Great Neighborhood cafe!. We finally got the opportunity to give this place a try. Great food, very good service, and reasonable prices. Don't miss this one if in the area.
David D
Outstanding flavor and nice atmosphere. I do suggest that they purchase their crawfish from East TX or Louisiana instead of China.

Best Value in the Village. D'Amico's lunch steam table is one of the best values for lunch in the Rice Village. The fact that you can pick three to four items from a set of twelve options is a great way to keep the menu fresh. That you aren't limited to a set number of sides and an entree is a real plus.

I will be going back.. This cute little cafe is located in rice village amongst a lot of shopping businesses and other restaurants. Parking is difficult even during the week so come early. Food is pretty good. And the servers are extra friendly and go out of their way to make sure that everything is perfect. (Ex.) Someone at the table next to us mentioned that the pasta was a lil too salty for their taste so they took the dish back remade the sauce and gave them a complimentary dessert for the problem....not a bad deal...
Carol
Best real Italian food in Houston. Despite its cozy look, it uses all seasoning very well, as Italians do. Fresh pastas are all the best that you will find! Don't miss it!

Old School Houston, I love it. This place has been great for a long time. Their lunch is the best bargain in town and the Walnut Mushroom Tortellini is amazing. To be in the Village for as long as they have been, has to say something. It will always be a favorite in heart and stomach, great character and history.
Lori
Cozy. Good place to stop for lunch with great daily lunch specials that change all the time. fresh ingredients and great service make this a real gem in Rice Village.
Arbitrary Critic
Here's my main criticism guys. So there are these shelves lined up at the entrance of the restaurant, lined with some of the ingredients they use in their recipes. It's kind of cute and homey and rustic, and then you look closer and there is a can of pizza sauce. These jokers are using canned pizza sauce??? Are you kidding me?? Look I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on crappy pizza chains, but I'm willing to bet that even Pizza Hut doesn't use pizza sauce out of a can. And if they do, it's at least a proprietary brand, rather than something that looks like it can be grabbed at the grocery store when you're in a hurry and can't be bothered to spend five minutes making your own! That's how long it takes to make pizza sauce, guys. Ten minutes. Look I know I have a bit more experience than the rest of you guys in working in pizza restaurants, but I'm willing to bet that there is not a single one of you out there who couldn't make something better. -14 And then to advertise it!
