Review Aquarium Restaurant - Houston

Micheal White
After touring the Aquarium with my family, we decided to grab a bite to eat at the Aquarium restaurant. We got an appetizer, a kids meal, and dessert! The service was amazing and the food we order was pretty good. The dessert was amazing!

Super clean, the bathrooms were really clean. The staff was super friendly. Our waitress was very helpful and very accommodating. It was a bit pricey but we had fun and enjoyed ourselves.

Food was good, atmosphere was interesting and very enjoyable, but the highlight of our visit was the service! The hostess was polite and efficient, the manager who returned our Landry's card was polite and professional, and our server Roberto was outstanding! On a very busy, crowded, hot day, he took the time to explain to our girls about the fish in the tanks, delivered our drinks quickly, made sure we got everything we wanted from the kitchen, and just overall took exceptional care of us.

My husband brought me here to celebrate my bday,so far I like the place as well my little girl, because she can see the big giant aquarium with a lot of fish in it 😉. The food and drink came on time. The only thing is my husband order his food and to tell the waiter to make it spicy and the waiter ask if it’s okay to give jalapeño and we said Yes.the food came we did not see the jalapeño and ask our waiter and it took a long time to bring it out. And after we finished the dinner, the waiter also forgot to brought the complimentary cupcake for us. So we have to remind again to bring it. And during to pay the bill they charge us for extra $ for something we did not order. My suggestion to all Check your bill before you pay.

Definitely was a fun experience! The chicken alfredo was really good, considering that it is a seafood restaurant! They also have a whole mini amusement park to enjoy after eating! Pretty neat place!

The Mother's Day brunch buffet at the Aquarium Restaurant, 410 Bagby St., Houston, TX 77002, is always fantastic. Everything is wonderful and exquisite, ranging from seafood to prime ribs and ham carving sections, an omelette station, a jambalaya station, a salad section, a waffle area, a pizza section, and a dessert section. There is a large crew on hand to take care of you, and there are also musical visitors to keep the patrons entertained. Therefore, both the ambiance and the service are excellent and superb. There is lots of on-site parking available, as well as a valet service. The cost of the all-you-can-eat buffet is $49 for adults, $39 for seniors, and $20 for children. Overall, we'll return to this location very soon. Well done!

The food was ok but not the best I had for the price here. We spent $95 including tip 18% for 2 one steak dinner abt $50 and chicken shrimp fettuccine dinner $24 2 iced teas $4. The rides are great fun for the kids. The service was great. The parking is $15.

I recommend reserving a table in advance, you can do so with the hostess or online. Our family of 4 waited 1+ hour for a table. Upon being seated, the table was wobbly and small. Our waiter, Daniil, was very quick and brought us our drinks, which never stayed empty for long. Brought our kids food out first. Kids food: served on fun plates, my kids got the hot dogs and cheeseburgers with Mac and cheese. The burgers and hot dogs came plain which, in my opinion, is fantastic for kids. The Mac and cheese was lukewarm, watery, and bland. The noodles felt slightly undercooked. Our food: we ordered the gator for an appetizer which was both of our first time trying it, it was very flavorful and came with an amazing dipping sauce. My only complaint with that is it came with more fried onions than gator. We shared the fisherman’s platter which was a great size for 2 people. Everything was delicious. The shrimp was a good size. The tilapia paired very well with the avocado pico they put on top. The rice was a nice palate cleansing neutral flavor. We ordered the shark attack dessert which was a great size for us 2 adults and 2 small kids. It took about 20 minutes for them to prepare and was so worth the wait. The atmosphere was very nice, we all loved watching the huge fish swim around while we ate. The bathrooms were nice, however, the stall doors were sticky and the second stall in the women’s restroom did not close. It was a bit pricey, but I would say overall worth the cost. We genuinely enjoyed our visit.

Spending time with new friends that share the same passion made tonight a great experience. I had the the shrimp ravioli and the wall of fish was an added bonus

Lunch was great and a great view at the same time

We needed a place to grab some lunch that was close to the theater and decided to check out this place. The food was great and sitting there looking at a ginormous tank of 40 species of fish was pretty cool. I had never seen a unicorn fish before and watching the sting rays and sharks and all the other fish was pretty entertaining

After a month of traveling, it is time to buckle up and share my reviews with the world. Let us start with Aquarium resto. After a long tour around the beautiful acquariun and exploring marine life, it was time for some snack so we decided to go to the resto as it was the most convenient.
The ambiance is lovely! I loved the decor and sweet touches all over the place. The food was delicious! I really loved the fried jalapeños and carrots with my calamari rings. A big room that needs improvement is the service and the coldness of the waiters.

We had an awesome lunch time here. Our server did an amazing job, very warm and accommodating. We ordered Mariner’s Mixed Grill and Castaway Combo for just the two of us. It was kinda too much for us, but we managed to finish it. Every thing tasted perfect. I just wish they had sweet tea.

Amazing dinner

A large group of us went there for dinner and the staff and the food were amazing. The waiter was so nice when he offered to take a picture of all of us in front of the aquarium. Everyone enjoyed their dinner in our group and we all devoured our desserts. I highly recommend this restaurant as an out of the box place to eat dinner

Its a nice place so cool to be there you feel like you are with the fishes because of the giant aquariums. Love the shrimp kisses. It is also so much fun you can take the aquarium tour down stairs. And the outside is family fun.

When thinking about this restaurant remember it's themed restaurant at a tourist attraction; we didn't keep that in mind and the food and service were overall just meh. I ordered the seafood gumbo which had three or four craw dad tails in a bland brown broth with tons of rice; just no flavor. My son and wife each had the chicken wraps which both claimed as tasteless, mushy, and gross. My daughter's steak was fine but also nothing to rave about. Service was ok the waitress was attentive but not knowledgable about promotions and we had to discuss with a manager to get our check corrected. Overall I know there is better seafood in Houston, go to the downtown aquarium but then somewhere else for lunch or dinner.

The place is beautifuly designed in between the aquarium and the view is just so peaceful. The food was over priced for the quality delivered.

Just go there for the ambience. The food is just okay!

The majority of the menu was seafood. What kind of sicko do you have to be to force someone to eat fish while looking at fish?

Amazing food. Grilled Mahi Mahi and shrimp with aquarium rice and seasoned vegetables...absolutely delicious. The Mahi was cooked perfectly and the shrimp had great flavor!

The surprise was ruined! I proposed at the Downtown aquarium 4/19/14 and was supposed to be a surprise proposal for my now fiancé and was my dream because i watched many online proposal videos at aquariums around the world and thought this one would be the same but the waiter left a receipt on the table at the BEGINNING of the dinner that said "proposal dive" that my fiancé had seen without anyone noticing because i didn't even see him do it and ruined the surprise but not only that, our reservation was for 11:00a.m. but couldn't even get in until 11:30 when they were done cleaning upstairs and the divers were scheduled to come out at 12:10p.m. and when i asked the manager to postpone the divers because we barely ordered, they couldn't do it for but 10 minutes because they were on a busy schedule which i understand but i am PROPOSING? (am i wrong for wanting this to be perfect?) AND, when the divers came out to show her the proposal sign, they didn't even give me time to get out of my seat and get in front of them to propose before they flipped the sign over or for my photographer friend to get any good pictures... it all happened sooooo fast... I paid 460+ dollars for this occasion for 2 people and the diver and i brought 5 other people with me that spend a pretty penny as well. The Aquarium is always a nice place to visit but booking a proposal here is out of the question... They were really great and called to reassure your attendance multiple times but when the event is happening noone gives a flying fadoodle... i even taped my engagement ring box to my hairy legs to make this surprise happen just to be ruined by a silly careless mistake that ruined my big moment...

It's a good atmosphere. Foods ok but overpriced. Good service
Kid friendly.

This place is fantastic !! Sure it might be slightly pricey but consider their overhead such as feeding all those sharks, fish, tigers and paying the salaries of all those marine biologist. Wade is a fantastic General Manager and he is more than happy to help make your dining experience wonderful. For those that complain about the wait, you do not have to sit there and just wait for your name to be called like every other restaurant, go to the exhibit. !!!!!!! There is so much to do there !!!

My Uncles Birthday Celebration. This was my first visit to the Aquarium and I enjoyed it. Although we had a slight "miscalculation" in the number of guests for the dinner - the management team was more than accommodating. We had great servers - Sean was great but much kuddos to William Smith! If you ever go to the Aquarium ask for William...he has a delightful smile and extremely pleasant personality. The Aquarium has a gem of a server!

In town for a wedding, had no idea this place was here. Friends of ours invited my wife and I (who was still my girlfriend at that time) to eat with them in Houston the day after the wedding we were all in was over. They picked the Aquarium which was literally situated in the Houston Aquarium downtown. I didn't know it then, but I know it now, that the Aquarium is owned by Landry's Seafood which also owns the Rain Forest Cafe I believe.

Anyway, the seafood was pretty good in our opinion, but the main draw that will keep you coming back and staying well after your meal is over, is the giant aquariums in the restaurant. It is so awe-inspiring to sit there and watch the fish you never really get to see outside of a seaworld or some of the better zoos in the country. I'd come just for that again!

Drink and play at Tilman Fertitta's seven-acre, downtown aquatic adventure. The Appeal
Houston's first public aquarium was designed to entertain the masses. The $38-million world-class complex, perched on the redeveloped 400 block of Bagby, boasts 500,000 gallons of visible underwater tanks with more than 200 species of marine life--and that's just skimming the surface.

The restaurant has an extensive menu that specializes in seafood, steaks, salads, pasta, chicken and other main entrees. Appetizers such as shrimp and crab dip, crispy calamari, and Maryland crab cake are a few of the aquarium favorites that bring patrons to the downtown restaurant. Patrons can view various sharks, marine plants, and a large range of other fish while dining. It is a family-friendly environment that attracts people of all ages.

Features
At this classy carnival, expect rides and amusements for the entire family. The Shark Voyage is a highlight: Travel via train into an acrylic tunnel with live sharks swimming overhead. Ride the 100-foot Diving Bell Ferris wheel for an incredible view of the city, or the aquatic carousel if you'd rather be grounded. See educational exhibits of themed underwater environments like the Rainforest. Quell your hunger at the Marina Matinee cafe or Aquarium restaurant; quench your thirst at the Dive Lounge. Thinking big? The Nautilus Ballroom accommodates 450 people.

Although the kids will probably be too distracted by the giant residents of the wall-size aquariums to notice, the food at the simply named Aquarium Restaurant is good -- really good. Sure parent-pleasers include the tortilla crusted shrimp salad (a house specialty) and sautéed gulf snapper. Although the kids' menu is not quite as inspired (pasta, miniature burgers, and chicken tenders), your little ones will devour every bite if they can tear themselves away from looking at the fish.

More upscale than the other Landry family restaurants that include a crab shack and cantina theme, the Aquarium Restaurant of Houston has a menu includes anything from fish and shrimp to burgers and steaks. For an appetizer, enjoy shrimp cocktails, oysters on the half-shell or crab wontons. The menu also includes items like the shrimp tortilla club sandwich, blackened redfish and sautéed red snapper with crab-avocado pico de gallo.
With the museum-like environment and live sharks, this restaurant is very kid-friendly.

While the prices are a little higher than most restaurants, you definitely get your money's worth of ambience. Whether you visit the downtown or Kemah restaurant, you should make time to visit the Aquarium Restaurant at least once.

No admission required. The restaurant has its own entry, so aquarium admission is not required to dine here. It's a great way to see aquatic life without touring the entire aquarium.

Expect the expected. The aquarium's theme park rides are right outside the restaurant door. Expect the inevitable pleas to ride.

The location is very cool, but I wasn't impressed by the food.

Cool place. Really unique. Was blown away by the large aquarium inside the stair case. Would return if ever in the area, just for the sake of awe.

The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the interior design with the large aquarium was ambient and beautiful. I would definatly recommend the Shrimp Parmesan Pasta.

We ate at the bar!. We had the appetizer sampler. Calamari breading was tasty and the meat was tender and not chewy. The Mozzarella sticks and marinara was good as well. Crab dip was good but not the best. And the bruschetta was very tasty. My gf ordered the Millionarie's Cappaccino and it was awesome. It is a blend of bailey's irish cream and cappaccino plus a few other choice ingredients. St. Pauli Girl non-alcoholic beer was tasty like a Heineken Waiter was responsive and friendly (but it was a slow night).

Below Average Food and Service. The only things good about this place is the location - the view is great - and the aquarium. This is really a commercial tourist trap.

Downtown Aquarium Fish and ChipsI have to say that it is a really cool place for the kids and it feels very tolerant of noise and active kids. The food is good and the decor is really a hit.
