Good - not great or exceptional - but very good food coupled with friendly service made this a good choice for our short dinner.
Very enjoyable meal today at Frenchies. This place may not be much to look at on the outside, but the food inside is perfect. Anytime Iām not sure what to get at an Italian restaurant I try the spaghetti in meat sauce. And this place nailed it. Large portion and very tasty. My salad was good as well. This will be a place to return to again and again.
This is truly an awesome place! The owner always greets customers at the door with a genuine warm smile and friendly words. The waitstaff is amazing. All of the entrees we have ordered at Frenchies have been delicious... the lobster ravioli is the best I have ever had and my husbandās favorite is the chicken Toscana (which comes with a side of the most fabulous fettuccine Alfredo ever). They offer bottles of wine or wine by the glass but we always get the carafe of the house Chianti which runs about $30 and is excellent and a great price. The service and the atmosphere are authentic Italian. Itās a great place for a wonderful Italian dining experience.
A local favorite. Besides getting fantastic Italian food (genuine Italian also!), you never know who you you will see in the restaurant... from astronauts to Tom Hanks to President Bush. The noodles are made from scratch and have a very good flavor and texture.

Frenchies Italian Restaurant IS OPEN and has ALWAYS BEEN OPEN and it proudly remains an absolute favorite to patrons both locally and abroad.
I love Frenchy's!. Lunch or dinner; I'm never disappointed. Yes, it's a hole in the wall. Yes, it can be slow service if they are extremely busy. But why are they busy? Because the food is great! But let me .tell you...the food is fresh and home made. My favorite is Salmon Casulinga. The Italian hands-on owners/family have been there since before I came to Texas in 1980's. They are dedicated to their craft and to their community. They donate food and labor to many, many fundraisers in Clear Lake. I LOVE FRENCHY'S!
Just like Mama Made It.... This place is the bee's knees if you like Italian cuisine. It's a little hole in the wall frequented by all of the locals (and those tourists lucky enough to find it) with staff that actually speak Italian! The lasagna is delicious, but go for one of the sandwiches at lunch time unless you want a pasta coma around 1PM.
Go for Lunch. Yes, the chicken crepes are very good. My favorite is the spaghetti marinara (no meat - black olives - capers). Very tasty and filling. Great for lunch. Go early, place your order at the counter, and enjoy.
It's Italian. I love the people and the ambiance...(Does seems like a scene out of the GodFather) But don't go if service is very important to you. You can't take it personal...it's just the way it is.
I love their pasta and vegetables...its not on the menu but they will whip it up for you...fabulous!
Exceptional !!. My family has been going to Frenchies for many years. The food has never been a disappointment. For those of us who love this gem of a restaurant, we know at times it can be chaotic....but then the food comes to the table....and you are lost in the flavors, aromas and presentation. At that very moment you are transported to a trattoria in Capri. We love you Frenchies!
I want to like it, but I just can't find something I really like (except for the bread and garlicky dip).
Awesome Italian food! The family like atmosphere will make you feel right at home! One of the things I most appreciate about Frenchie's is there apparent support of NASA. They have tons of pictures of launches and landings of the space shuttles and many of them are autographed by the very astronauts that flew the particular mission the picture is honoring! Never been here for dinner but lunch is a home run! Enjoy!
Frenchies was a great place to eat, I had lasagna and I finished with there cheese cake with blue berries o my very good!!! I highly recommend. I will be back.

Good for lunch (only). Frenchie's has great sandwiches for lunch. I'd give them a 4 for that. The sandwiches are big. Sometimes they have roasted garlic available (you may have to ask) you can add to your sandwich or whatever you order. Really good! On a busy day for lunch you may have to wait a little. It's not fast food, but it doesn't taste like fast food either. The family has always been friendly. They have tons of memorabilia from all of the astronauts and many I've heard eat there. Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz also ate there years ago with James Cameron during the filming of a movie for lunch. They have pictures. I missed it by about 10 minutes that day. I think a lot of people get overwhelmed by the hype that actors and astronauts have eaten here though. I must say that dinner is completely different than lunch. The Lasagna is not good at all for dinner. Almost anywhere is probably better. The garlic bread is ok. Spaghetti is good, but that's hard to mess up spaghetti. Great for a unique lunch spot, but wouldn't go for dinner.

A Clear Lake Staple. I love this place! They have some of the best Italian food in the area and the owner and his family is usually right there in the front taking your order or preparing food. I usually go at lunch, but have been once before to dinner. Its a totally different experience, but their food has always been popular. A must go, for anyone new to the area or passing through.
Great lunch value. Hidden gem in clear lake. Dinner is much more expensive though. Chicken crepes rock!
We love this little place. House wines are good as well. The Lobster ravioli is enough to drive here but there are other specials that focus on seafood that are outstanding.
Tasty. Still my favorite, I don't care what anybody says. The salad is just so Italian...I can't pass up lasagna. Not very imaginative, but I love it. It's all good.
And I love to hear those guys talk Italian in there. Makes me think I'm in a real Italian place. Our service was good and attentive, but not gratuitous.
I like the cozy Godfather-ish atmosphere.
I'll keep going there when I want italian food.
A Clear Lake Tradition. Before there was a "Nasa Parkway" and when Kemah was about five places to eat and more places to buy fresh or live seafood, Frenchie's was around. It's good Italian comfort food - no pretense, very WYSIWYG - and it's fun.
Excellent lunch. Best Italian food in Clear Lake area in the $10 zone. My wife and I visit at least once a week.

Best in Houston - Seriously!. Frenchie's is Zagat rated and is honestly some of the best Italian food in Houston! All the astronauts eat here and there is memorabilia all over the walls. Go for lunch and order at the counter. Frenchie will call your number over the intercom when your food is ready for pickup. Come for dinner and it's full table service. The food is authentic and awesome! Try the Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Alfredo, and the Lasagna.
Iām visiting the Clear Lake area of Houston this week and decided to try Frenchies Lobster Ravioli, oh yes it was delicious. Oh, don't forget to order a salad and extra garlic bread...really yummy.

Phenomenal authentic Italian cuisine and a restaurant with a great history and passion for their product and customer experience. The service is efficient and staff is very friendly. They offer free bread of course and a large selection of wine/alcoholic drinks. A lot of NASA pictures, which makes it fun to look around and adds to your confidence in the quality of the restaurant. While you pay a high price for the food itās 100% worth it!
Omg the lobster ravioli. Itās ridiculously amazing and topped with crab and some of the best jumbo shrimp Iāve ever eaten. The bread is so delicious and hard to stop eating especially with the garlic and oils to top with. The salad was pretty typical but still good. The staff was so attentive and happy to have us. The decor of astronauts and space was perfect for me!! It is located on a plain unassuming strip next to Baskin Robins but it is no typical place at all! I definitely want to return to Frenchies!!
This place is absolutely amazing! The service is top notch and the food is even better. So much history and lore being told within the decor and atmosphere, it is like reading a picture book on the walls. The food was amazing! I had the special which was lamb chops and they were cooked to perfection! I will definitely return!
In business for 50 years at the same location. I LOVED the photos of family and friends through the years. I was treated so kindly. Truly a treasure, and far better Italian food than any chain restaurant!!! The Lobster Ravioli and the sauce was rich and smooth.

Food is amazing. I have never had a better garlic bread and dip in usa. Main course has lot of varieties and it comes with garden salad and pasta sides. Potion sizes are huge, so order accordingly. You can choose between salmon, chicken, shrimp and there are chef special lobster ravioli and other items as well. Plenty of options and from what i can tell, everything was looking stunningly well.
Service, it was totally admirable. They were nice and courteous. Very helpful with questions. At the same time they give you space to enjoy the food and company. They also sang happy birthday to one lady at another table.
Owner is gem of a guy. Have been meeting all astronauts and have all the pictures up on the walls but still so down to earth and friendly with everyone. Always with a smile. Beautiful soul.

I went to Frenchies twice; once for dinner (about 4:30pm) and once for lunch (about 1pm)ā¦the food was delicious both time, but the level of service was night and day. Dinner, service was outstanding! Escorted to our table, spoke with us about the available options, made wine suggestions and then brought some of the most delicious Italian food Iāve ever had. Then there was the lunch; zero service. Had to order at the counter, not sure if the full menu was available, there were white menus on the counter, so we ordered from there. They gave us a number but most of the people I saw went to the count to pick up there food, we waited and it took 30+min to get our food. Still delicious, but the receipt had a tip line on itā¦ come on man, we had to bust our own table, get our own drinks, get our own silverware and wait 30+ min for food. I highly recommend Frenchies for the food, but if you want service and donāt want to server yourself (everything except the food), youāll want to go after 4pm. Iām adding stars based on the dinner service because while we were having lunch, no one complained about the service. Iām not local/a regular and donāt want to bash a great dinner restaurant for what āIā considered to be bad service.
My boyfriend and I LOVE Frenchies! We crave it. The both of us try to have a low carb diet, but every once in a while, we have to splurge here.
