My son and I discovered your menu online recently while inpatient at MD Anderson and it is the first place we headed to explore your huge selection of eggs Benedict . We missed breakfast and ordered the lobster Mac and cheese which was illegal it was so good.
The next morning we headed over for breakfast . The loaded grits were HEAVEN. I have a feeling we will be in on a regular basis.
Oh and the Lobster Eggs Benedict did not disappoint!
The new "Litigator" salad is the bomb! The Lemon Otis dressing is addicting. Tasted super fresh! And the American Burger tasted delicious, fresh & hearty. Totally recommend both! The gentleman taking our order was very informative about the menu and very professional and polite. The manager was very attentive and checked on us throughout our visit today, very impressed. We will be back.
This was our first trip to Houston and we ate here on a recommendation, It did not disappoint! Great food & superb atmosphere! When they found out this was our first time here, the manager(?) Daniel, gave us dessert on the house. This was an extremely nice gesture to "out of towners". I would recommend it on the friendliness alone, but everything else was great too! 👍👍
One of my favorite breakfast spots in Houston. I haven’t even moved on to the rest of the menu because I’m so in love with the breakfast! 😂 super affordable and in a wonderful area so if you feel like shopping later you can. Overall just go eat the breakfast it’s delicious!

I moved to Rice Village a few months ago and passed Black Walnut walking my dog. They had a large sign saying "No dogs on the patio" so I told my fiancé that we should never eat there...since I love dogs. I couldn't have been more wrong. After breaking down and trying their brunch takeout one morning, I knew there was no going back. Their brunch, appetizers, salads, and desserts are incredible. We now get takeout from black walnut at least once a week if not more. Our favorites are the Asian chicken nachos, the hummus, the Santa Fe and Cobb salad, and the tacos.
Nice friendly place for anytime during the day whether you want to catch just a quick bite or a full meal. Quick, courteous and helpful service.
We come here quite often and there’s a reason.... the food, service, and quality! The food is astounding 🥘 Must visit location! SV
We have eaten there 3 times and love the food, casual atmosphere and friendly service! Will be back many more times! Thanks!
We were in from out of town and decided to try Black Walnut Cafe. The food was amazing, the service was great! Anytime we come back to the area we will be going back!!
I love the atmosphere of this particular location and the food was delicious! The friendly crew and patio out front make this the perfect chill spot.
Very nice atmosphere. Table seating for families. Plenty of outdoor seating. Service wad accommodating and pleasant. Food was prepared well and delicious. I always get the almond croissant. Note: only accept CC/debit. No cash.
The food was really good. I got the chicken fried steak and a Mediterranean salad. The green beans were so tasty - perfectly seasoned. The bread and garlic butter was definitely the highlight of the meal.
Fresh delicious food, I had the Texas breakfast and my son had the chicken and waffles. Gotta say, I'd never tried it before but the chicken was so succulent and fresh, I'm now a fan. Atmosphere was upbeat and clean with a touch of class. Definitely a great destination for a relaxed bite. My son tried the Fanta Halloween flavor, looked nasty but it was actually tasty. Was fun anyway to try. Cheers.

Every single staff member was truly nice, and we encountered with many just walking to our table. All were very attentive, kind, and respectful. The food was delicious! We will definitely be going back.
Wonderful food, great staff, and a lovely new patio. I especially like how well they deal with customizing an order. I’m allergic to several foods and they unfailingly produce delicious meals I can eat.
Relaxed atmosphere, menu has a good variety, and really really nice people working here. I love their chocolate cake!
Loving the renovations! The name change says it all- Black Walnut Kitchen and Bar- breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with their awesome bar and happy hour! So glad I returned to this location after their hiatus! The service was flawless. The food was absolutely delicious! It definitely gave my Saturday morning a great start!!!
This is the best location of black walnut Café! I had such a good time. The drinks are amazing the food is phenomenal, but the best part is the service. #Tania, #Chewy.THANK YOU!
We enjoyed to puzzling ambience, quick service and hospitality. The coffee was brewed fresh and the food was fresh and plentiful. We had the Appetizer - Chicken lettuce wrap (tasted good, quite watery though due to the veggies), Lobster Benedict ( very tasty however the poached eggs were well done instead of runny) and mediterranean chicken (my favorite out of all, chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the artichokes and mash potatoes went really well with the chicken). Definitely recommend this place for a social brunch!
Came in for weekend brunch for the first time since they reopened and every thing had an upgrade. Food was amazing and staff was super friendly. We sat at the much larger covered patio to enjoy the weather and had the best peach cobbler I’ve ever had. This will definitely be our new go to spot.
We stop by here for brunch since we were headed back home. We wanted to make sure we ate good. The food was amazing. It was very busy. The menu had a lot of varieties of options for a brunch menu. The devil eggs with the bacon jam was delicious. All the food was good. My sister enjoyed the lobster tacos and my other sister enjoyed the turkey burger. She said it was very juicy. She ate the whole thing..lol well be back soon hopefully on our next trip to Houston.
We went at 9a on a Sunday and there was a small line. I ordered the a croissant with ham and a caramel latte with oat milk. We got our coffee and food pretty quickly after ordering. The sandwich was pretty good but to me the meat to bread ratio was off, too much meat. I wish the croissant would have been toasted because I like the crispy texture of bread. I also wished that my latte was a bit sweeter. Overall, it was a pretty good experience and I would try it again. We were thankful they had dairy free options for my husband.
Wow!!! What can I say??? This place really is the epitome of a great breakfast!!! The only gripe I have is that this is one of those places where you order at the counter, then sit where you like and a server brings food/drinks. (So, if you want another round of drinks/etc, you gotta get back in line and re-order.) Other than that, everything else was AWESOME!!! Had a few of their cocktails, SO GOOD!!!! They were very balanced and for less than $10 for most of the drinks, well worth it!!!! The food was seriously better than anyplace we've been to in a while!! I got the creole shrimp omelet. It was devine!!! My wife got the oat cakes, which are basically pancakes made from oatmeal...Everything was fresh and sooooooo delicious!!! So glad we came!!!
Great place with a lovely vibe. Has nice outdoor and indoor seating, and kid friendly. We ordered the nashville hot chicken benedict and chicken and waffles breakfast plates. They were made to perfection. The fries were well seasoned and the coffee was fresh. Food was served within 20 mins of ordering. I always enjoy coming here for brunch and dinner. Highly recommend.
What a delightful place for coffee/brunch! Although not cheap, Black Walnut does wonders with their simplistic ingredients, presentation, and freshness. It's very clear that they pride themselves on their level of quality and taste. Highly recommend you visit.
I’ve been here several times specifically on the weekends. I used to really enjoy their Gin & the bee drink (Bees Knees). The portions are good, food is never nasty but sometimes the menu can be misleading. Like the Mediterranean Chicken does not have a side of mashed potatoes but rather my mashed potatoes were mixed into like a small amount of sauce on the chicken, needless to say I sent it back. Today at a separate location I got the Chef Austins G&T … nowhere on the menu does it say they put cayenne pepper in the drink so I sent that back.
Favorite items would be:
Chicken & Waffles
Big Plate 2.0 (double bacon, no sausage patties, with potatoes)
Mimosa Flight
While on vacation with family in Houston, We ate here daily for three days to satisfy me and my partners brunch and breakfast needs! Chuey, the on-site manager, was more than accommodating to my partner’s sever celiac and gluten-free diet. We throughly loved all the food options we picked and would definitely recommend eating here over and over again!
Black Walnut is one of my favorite restaurants and I absolutely love the remodeling. The atmosphere is friendly and upbeat, excellent food extremely delicious and superb service! Kyle helped me recently, he was professional provided me with everything I needed and was very friendly!! I will definitely be back!
Thank you,
Tiffanie
Pretty large space. I like the way they take orders at front counter in a fast moving line. Able to quickly order and find table for 8 in a busy Sunday morning. Food was good. Need to add more vegan options.

Great service and good food. We loved the outside seating and the inside of the restaurant had a cool vibe to it. We ordered breakfast and let me tell you that it was great. The Latte could’ve been better. They gave me the milk and pointed me towards the coffee machine. I like my Latte with froth and I think it would’ve been better if they prepared the latte. My wife got an iced coffee and she loved it. She ordered the Caramel Macchiato. She loved it.
