Review Good Dog Houston - Houston

Martin Pallares Perez
The GoodDog is situated in the Houston Heights area. This small, quaint unassuming location surrounded by local traffic and abundant trees, makes for breath of fresh air in the backdrop chaos of one’s existence. I ordered The chai-town Dog presents with fresh tomato slices, dill pickle slices, short bus mustard, sweet blakeslee relish, pickled fresno peppers & celery salt served on poppy seed bun. It was a playful balanced experience of sliced pickles and Fresno peppers, nurtured by the consistency of the sausage and the homemade bun. I was surprised to learn that they make their own I house ketchup and aioli garlic mayonnaise so rich and flavorful and never intense. This was accompanied by a side of thinly cut fries sprinkled with salt & pepper freshly made only at request. I felt full-filled and not bloated, and actually wanted more. The people were friendly and it felt good to escape from it all for a moment.

Amazing food, with above and beyond service. The atmosphere was friendly and casual. Took no more than 30 seconds to order, with the cashier triple checking the mods. To then only wait 5 min for the food to be ready, I can confidently say this place is amazing. The staff also noticed we had a dog with us and brought treats and water! Loved every second there and would recommend to anyone! They also have vegan options!

Fantastic Hotdogs. Their buns are a type of bread roll. It's an area original, unique, and delicious that is absolutely worth a try. Have a good laid-back vibe as well. It's definitely a must if you're are the heights. I recommend trying one of the dogs with their chorizo chili and the short bus mustard. She had so.wtjing with pickles on top. The pickles were very good too. I highly recommend this place.

Great hot dog and great sides. We had a take out order for a large group, but they had it ready relatively quickly. I loved the Chili Cheese Please Dog, the fries, and the fried pickles.

I've been meaning to come here for a while and I'm glad I stopped in today. I was craving a Chicago dog so I gave it a shot. It's definitely more of a gourmet take on it but still very yummy. Pictured: New York and Chicago hotdogs

This place was pretty good. First time trying it out and between the 6 of us, we tried several different menu items. Service was attentive and friendly. Clean place. The dishes were pretty good. The corn dogs were my fave, hand dipped! The onion dip and relish in the zapata dog were a bit lacking. Fish and chips were pretty good, batter was tasty and fries are delicious. Overall good place and we did receive our food fresh and very quickly.

cant even remember the last time i ate a hotdog. not a hotdog girl but ive been driving by this place all the time so i thought id give it a try. we got two rodeo dogs, french fries and fried mozza balls. we ordered thru uber eats and picked it up. it was a smooth fast process. but the food was already cold once we came back (we like 7min away). the hotdog still tasted good though. i liked how the mac n cheese were on it. the hotdog itself salty. the fries were like in and out fries, and salty, not the best.. the fried mozza balls, again, cold so it was alright. dont think we are gonna order these side dishes again. and the marinara sauce wasnt giving. i wish the hotdog didnt get cold this fast. the inside of the restaurant is ok, outside looks nice at night - cozy. i love their logo and the food truck. a fun concept. decent amount of parking :)

The hype is real! We wanted to try a few different dogs and the team kindly cut them in half which was a nice touch! The Picnic Dog was the surprise favorite followed by the Texican Dog. The fried mozzarella balls and fresh fudge were also great add-ons.

Went to Republic boot company right before lunch , went online, found this place, and loved the selection. I got the chili cheese plz on a poppy seed bun. I loved the hot dog . What little chili was on it was very good . The cheese was just ok , I could have done without it and not missed much. My husband got the old Zapata dog. He liked it. My brother-in -law got the Rodeo dog , and he did not like the "snap" of the hot dog. He said it was tough. He did like the macaroni and cheese on it even though it was very messy . It was supposed to have Jalapeno relish , he did not taste it. We got a side of ff , they were just ok. I got an order of house made ( I thought) chips , they were good but would have been better hot , especially if they were house made. My brother-in-law got onion rings , they were huge , but the breading fell off. I will stop by again for chili and / or a giant corn dog(they looked delicious)

The service was literally impecable we (being a group of 5) had arrived half an hour before closing when they were only accepting to go orders and cleaning the whole place to close. Received our food and decided to sit outside, not only did a staff member tell us we could stay and enjoy our food but also bought us extra condiments and napkins checked on us multiple times asking if we needed anything. The food worth the trip

The gimmick of being pet friendly is very cool. Of course, I have only taken one meal so far, but it was good and had it's clear that their hotdogs are very distinct from another. I suppose I'd have to say that there wasn't very much food per meal. There was one oddity, which is that the person attending the order missed someone's. I doubt this is a regular occurrence, but I'm afraid I have to make note of it for an objective review's sake. On the other hand, we were a bit rowdy and disorganized, and hadn't organized who was paying for what by the time we arrived to the counter, so it is somewhat understandable that there was some error. I will add, now that I think about it, that it does not take very long to receive an order. This person was served after everone else, but did not have to wait too long for the opportunity to catch up.

Love this place! It's a great kid-friendly place to take my son when we want to grab something good to eat. They have fun twists on an American staple. The staff is always nice and welcoming. I look forward to trying more of their different hot dogs.

Fish and chips!!!!!!!! BEST IN HOUSTON HANDS DOWN!! The catch today was grouper! Perfect in every way! The fry, crunch, lightness and batter! Pleasantly surprised! This chips is better than any in any fine restaurant! Came with delicious tartar, cocktail mignonette and mayo. This is so good it’s ridiculous. The chips are really good as well!!! I can’t believe a hot dog shop has fish like this!

We enjoyed a tasty bratwurst on the chilly porch after being told our dog had to go outside. The waitress ignored my question why another dog was sitting under a table inside.

perfect for a nighttime chill dinner. delicious dogs & sides, and the mint limeade was awesome. the employees were a little flustered with the amount of diners but they were moving fast & efficiently without ever losing their smile. I love the patio atmosphere & the playlist was great! It’s become a new favorite spot of mine
Kevin Sinclair
Great customer service. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the fine chilli and cheese hotdogs

I went there for their Chili Cheese Dog. It was good. I definitely enjoyed the fries, which were seasoned to perfection. The prices are pretty reasonable for this type of restaurant. I paid a little over $15 for a chili dog with fries and a drink. As far as the vibe of the restaurant, this place reminds me of the restaurants I’ve seen in Midtown Atlanta with its decor, clean and quaint. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for a good lunch spot.

Great hot dogs! Love their buns, however on occasion the hot dog has been seriously over cooked, but when it’s not they’re great. Personally I’m not a fan of their homemade ketchup, but it’s just as good dipped in mayo! Fries are absolutely amazing, super crispy every time. Their coffee milkshake much have crack in it it’s seriously addicting it’s so good, even me who isn’t a big coffee person.

OMG good dogs is like totally the best you can get all different kind of hot dogs everything's fresh even their chips oh my God and I tried their pretzels they are so off the hook and the atmosphere is to die for

The hot dogs are good, not my favorite in town but definitely good, I am disappointed in how pricy they are and how little it appears you are getting. I came during their happy hour and got the mini dogs thinking it would be a good deal, but it definitely wasn't enough. I guess I am comparing these guys to Moon Tower Inn and Happy Fatz and I definitely feel you get better bang for your buck at those places plus I like the flavor of their dogs more. I feel those are more filling for a similar price. MTI usually has their movie nights and a whole hot dog is $5. I know they are in different locations so I am guessing the overhead makes a difference. I would come again but it wouldn't be my first choice among the the hot dog places in Houston. No problems with the staff they were very friendly. I would rate this a 3.5 if I could. I feel 4 is too high.

A great place to grab a quick bite or meet with friends and clients. The staff are friendly and efficient. Love their superb hotdogs and backyard brats. Check out the fried pickles for a great appetizer. Beer, Cider , Tea and Lavender Lemonade to drink. I like to sit on the front porch and people watch as I eat. Plenty of parking in front with extra parking one house down on east 9th street. My wife and I go there often

Such a cute little location. Super awesome staff. The hot dogs are inventive and very good. We got the fried pickles as well which were great. I had a great draft beer (they let me sample some first) and I also tried their rocky road squares which were amazing. The place is cute, staff friendly and the cat is adorable!

We were passing through Huston on our way back to Lake Palestine from spending the day at Galveston Island...this place had great reviews and they served gourmet hotdogs!! What!?!? We figured we couldn't go wrong. We went a few minutes out of our way and I'm glad we did. We had a party of 6 to include 4 kids, so the family games they had to offer were perfect for while we waited. They had our meals out quickly and everything was delicious! Their condiments are all homemade and their ranch dressing was to die for!! I loved everything about the place...if you're in the area, do yourself a favor, GO!!!!

This place is so sweet! Excellent food and very friendly Staff! Highly recommend stopping by ... patio under the big trees is a picnic in the city

Went there about 30 minutes before close on Friday. I was surprised there weren't more people there, our food only took maybe 10 minutes and was hands down of the best, if not the best hot dog I've ever had. I got the Texican, and I highly recommend it. My boyfriend got the New York, and said it couldn't have been a more traditional NY dog. Our fries were perfectly seasoned and the Sriracha ketchup was a great touch! I'll definitely be coming back.

Food was good, incredible red potato salad! Best I've had! Had the corn dog and Hubby had a chili cheese dog and a New York sauerkraut dog. He couldn't decide which he liked best.
Catherine Cathe Eldredge
I literally spit the tofu dog into my napkin because I thought they messed up my order. I was quickly informed that it was in fact meat free. Pretty amazing! The servers were super friendly and nice! I will definitely be back and highly recommend this place!

great food great staff, just an all around good place to chill and grub.

The good dog was very obedient when it came to taste and presentation! Really cool place ...... Suggestion: (no disespect intended what soever) - Maybe, in the porcelain dishes the food comes in, have "slits" made in the dish so that the customer may cut the food to eat it. Mereley, a suggestion my Chillin dog was sooo FREAKING! Good! Oh! And i want to take the chili home separate!! YuM!! :) .... I will definitely! Make a return for the other tastes on the Menu. An to Think! I was ALWAYS A James coney island fan! Lol! Muah-Ha !!

My favorite

I can not visit Houston without coming here! So many options and every hot dog is delicious! Friendly staff and both locations are great.
Ashley
I went there for the first time today and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The hotdogs were a little pricey, but when they came to the table I felt they were a pretty good size! Good toppings that went well together. All in all I'd probably go again, but for a nice outing.

This place is a Houston staple for my wife and I. Amazing hot dogs but not too expensive, which makes it a great location for a low key date.
Carlaenrica
Most hipster and overrated hot dog I've had.
Cool place, nice music, but let's face it, anyone can do the same hot dogs at home. There's nothing unique here nor innovative.
The refill station is super uncomfortable.
There's no mustard, ketchup or mayo unless you ask for it and it comes in a tiny bowl.
The fries are good though, surprisingly.
I won't eat here again

You can't go wrong with the Ole Zapata, GuacADog, or the Texican. Although I must say the Chicago Dog is pretty dang good as well! The beer selection is always fantastic! And the fries are very good as well!
Mmmm....
Cool spot! Beer cheese soup and Chillin' Dog were tasty! Can't wait to go back and check out some of their other offerings. Their shakes looked good too!
Wo Od
Beer cheese soup and Chillin' Dog hit the spot. The bread they use for the dog is as tasty as the sausage dog they use. Cool vibe and attentive staff!

This is a pretty cool place, low key and very casual. The menu was a little too unique for my tastes so I built my own dog. What I got ended up being really yummy! I'd definitely come back and try a new combo
Catie Clemens
Amazing menu with extremely innovative hot dogs. The buns are bread that are killer but almost overpower the dog. The Chicago dog was good and almost as good as a real Portillo dog! The chips were the best part of the meal!

Exciting! Amazing food. Cute on the inside but a little small. Food came out pretty quick. Friendliness was lacking though. Seemed like they were in a big hurry and you wouldn't get acknowledged while standing there.

It's a hotdog. If I'm going to pay $7+ for a hotdog it better be innovate & absolutely delicious!! Good Dog was something I can make at home in 5min with leftovers in the fridge.

The food here is okay, but it's insanely loud, with not many places to sit inside. Definitely don't go here if you're sensitive to loud environments, or if it's raining, because all the tables will be taken up inside (which I learned the hard way). The homemade ketchup was really good though.

More about the toppings than the dog. Interesting flavors and combinations for those, but the dog itself was the same, tough, beef frank. Disappointing as I expected a place that specializes in hot dogs to offer variety of interesting sausages flavors and ingredients.

Fish and chips: lovely big chucks of fresh (not frozen!) cod, probably the best I've had in Houston, but the batter was over salted, which was a shame.

Small, relaxed setting with a nice selection of Texas craft beers.

LOVE Good Dog!. First visit this evening. Love the friendly, casual, atmosphere. The counter personnel are very helpful selecting your first Good Dog. I chose a "Chi-Town Dog" and it was wonderful! The bun, the wiener, the fresh veggies - all came together to make a delicious treat. The Austin Eastciders and St. Arnold's Root Beer are a perfect go-with! I will be back - and soon!

Favorite Place!. I loooooove Good Dog! I am a vegetarian and their tofu dogs are AMAZING! This is absolutely my favorite place to eat :-)
MackJackMo
I wanted to like it. It's in a trendy party of town with slick presentation, a cool logo, and plenty of beer choices. But it's called Good Dog - so that's what this is about. The hot dog itself was more of a sausage - which is fine. The problem I had with it was that it was too firm (no jokes). It was like eating a steamed whole carrot. The house ketchup is odd - gritty with a sweet flavor (maybe cinnamon or some other spice?). The fries had a great flavor and looked appealing but were not cooked all the way through - something that could be easily fixed. All-in-all I was disappointed.

What hapen to the bun?!. The 1st time I tried this place we all loved it...I had the Ol Zapata with a side order of greens. Everything was great!
We all went back to tried it again yesterday-and things don't seem to be the same...
The f
food is still good....but they seem to have changed the bun....the first time it was a great pretzel like bun that we all LOVED! I even wanted to take a package home that they sold, but didn't. This time around the bun was different. It was more like a Texas toast bread-no where like the pretzel bread we had the fist time....
I asked the woman at the counter about it, and she said it was the same company and bread, but it's not! It is completely different.
I had the berry mascarpone milkshake and it was excellent. I tried the gazpacho soup...it was not good. The beer cheese soup I had last time was great, but it was no longer on the menu. I tried the pickle beet salad this time, but I would pass on that too.
I would say stick to the hot dogs and sides and leave the soups and salads alone....the hot dogs are still good, not great with these new buns they have. Maybe in time they will go back to the original ones I had.
I will give them another try in a few months to see what happens.

...The best part about Good Dog is the top notch hot dogs – no surprise there! The standard Good Dog is big and juicy. You can pick from a plethora of hand-made condiments to make this classic hot dog ideal for your taste buds. Some of Good Dog’s famous condiments include their Sriracha Ketchup, Whole Grain Mustard, Roasted Garlic Aioli and Jalapeno Relish.

It was hard to choose from all the tasty-sounding hot dogs on the menu: I finally decided on the Ol’ Zapata, which came with bacon, muenster cheese, caramelized onions, tomatoes, jalapeno relish, ketchup, and mayo, which I was told is their most popular hot dog. Tracy went for a Good Dog with guacamole and caramelized onions. And homemade potato chips, of course. It is easy to see why Good Dog was recently voted Houston’s Best Hot Dog . The condiments are made from scratch, the buns come from artisan baker Slow Dough , and the hot dogs are a well-seasoned blend of 85% beef and 15% pork. I could not have been happier sitti
