Review Xochi - Houston

Hillary Contreras
It was definitely an experience. The service and food were more than perfection. I kid not when I say as soon as you’re done with your meal they come and pick the plate up. The servers are extremely kind and very helpful when it came to suggestions. The food and the drinks were unbelievably delicious. The valet were also very attentive and kind. This restaurant is a jewel in the heart of Houston.

It starts as a casual husband nag, stating, I told him to make a reservation 😌 We were visiting to celebrate our 11th anniversary. The hostess was great, and she was kind and informed that she could get us an outside table. The food was beautiful and delicious, and the service was impeccable. It was a crowded day, so needless to say... Make reservations. Please don't risk it to be on the safe side. Thank you, Xochi team, for always staying on top of your game and making us feel loved on our special day.

Visited this modern Mexican restaurant in downtown Houston, and it was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was top-notch. Carlos, our friendly waitress, took great care of us and provided excellent recommendations on what to order. We'll definitely be back

XOCHI restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience. The food is delicious, and the ambiance is delightful. I particularly enjoyed the cactus decorations on every table, which added a unique touch to the environment. Highly recommend

Visited Houston and a friend recommended this place because it was unique to Houston - read the reviews and it was worth the trip! I was more interested in the chocolate dessert. If I this would not have been a short trip, I would have taken the chocolate dessert home and finished it. It was heavenly, pure, chocolate decadent. Food was a bit pricey, but it was the experience. The place was packed with patrons!

Xochi is an authentic Mexican gem! The vibe, food, and drinks are amazing. The ambiance is vibrant, the dishes are bursting with flavor, and the handcrafted cocktails are a must-try. I highly recommend this restaurant while visiting Houston and, of course, even for locals, for an unforgettable Mexican dining experience.

We went for my birthday and I do have to say that the food was amazing and the service superb. They made my night extra special by giving me a custom made menu with my name imprinted on it with a glass of champagne to start off dinner. Thank you so much for the best experience!

You’ll not get wrong with any drinks and desserts on their menu! The drinks we ordered are alcohol free, for which I’m very happy with what we got. Because for some other places, you still feel the alcohol in the drinks when you told the waiter you’re allergic to alcohol. Love all the desserts we ordered. Hopefully they can have more items on the brunch menu 🥰

Truly one of the best Mexican restaurants in the United States. It is hard for me to pick a favorite because everything I had there was incredibly good. The service was exemplary and the ambience was ideal. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary dinner here. The food and drinks were amazing. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired though. It’s not a very romantic place.

Xochi was phenomenal! They have an incredibly unique, innovative, daring menu. We enjoyed our mole sampler platter, including a mole that had crunchy ants. The duck was delicious, crunchy, yet very tender. My boyfriend's white fish enchiladas were tasty, but the absolute pinnacle of our dinner was my Cacao chocolate bean dessert, which was a masterpiece of chocolate ecstasy, which was a chocolate bean, which was edible too, and crammed full of chocolate delicacies. Very pricey, but well worth it and the service was impeccable.

The food and drinks were great; the service was *fantastic.* We sat on the patio with our 4 year old before going to Discovery Green. I was under-dressed (since we came downtown to play in the park) but the staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive anyway. I love mole and was very excited to find they have so many kinds! The duck enchiladas in yellow mole were straightforward and delicious. The "negro en negro" (black mole on black-foot chicken) was great as well. Even the kids' meal was really tasty. I will be back ASAP to try more mole!

Pros: Great service, dessert. Cons: Mediocre food. I was expecting something truly special out of Xochi after all the glowing reviews, but the food didn’t really impress, except for the dessert. Drinks were nice, but wouldn’t be worth it outside happy hour. I would go back purely to try more of the desserts; the corn ice cream was good enough to leave me in raptures.

Nothing “wrong” with the food. Well executed and artfully conceived, but I felt the flavor profiles were just too subtle (or too complex for my taste buds). Nothing shined. The decor is gorgeous and staff attentive and courteous. Would bring back out of town business guests that I’m wanting to impress but not really close friends expecting a dazzling and warm culinary experience.

Excellent food and staff! Victor educated us on what we were eating and drinking and was an awesome server. The food is great and some items on the menu are for more adventurous eaters. We will be back to try more of the menu for sure.

I was confused by the menu at first. Our waiter helped us enjoy a series of small pates that provided a tasting of Xochian cuisine. Complex and flavorful with stunning visual presentation. Their pride at including insects in some of the preparation looses a star in my evaluation. The beef cheek and the Cacao Pod was the star of the show, while the cabrito(roast goat) resembled pressed decorated spam. Over all a lovely Evening. Beautiful venue, good service, interesting food and tastes.

What can I say about this place when beyond my expectations i’m the kind of person who very critical When we talk about authenticity specially Latin food I had Huitlacoche tamal As spectacular I never have that and I’m in love with it I’m going back to try something else something more daring but I love love this place

Didn’t wanna give 3 or 4. I think 3.5 would have been good. It was different. Mole sauces very good. Excellent spicy margaritas. But overall was not outstanding. There were other things on the menu I wanted to try. Bacon wrapped stuffed quail is what I had. Maybe just a little dry and over cooked. The baked oysters were delicious. My wife had one of the fish dishes. It was decent.

The best Mexican food I have found in Houston great atmosphere and service all kind of special Méxican dishes and drinks

To expensive for what you get, food is not authentic to the state of Oaxaca, my mother is from the state of Oaxaca, and she didnt know what over half the food was. Portions were tiny for the price, the mezcal was bitter, stale , and drinks were inconsistent from the bar. Wait staff was nice. One time was enough for me, my family and I will not return.

The place was fabulous!!! I highly recommend. The staff was very pleasant and professional.

So since Caracol is my absolute favorite latin cuisine restaurant, l wanted to try Xochi to see if it lives up to the restaurant families reputation that is Hugo Ortega...The verdict is in and Xochi is a winner!!! I'm in love with the food, the ambiance and the view of Discovery Green. The simplest refried black beans are money and the grilled octopus is like butter... They were out of the dessert that I wanted, so I settled for another and wasn't disappointed. But the Waiter/Axel promised me that the dessert of first choice will be on him. I'm going to take him up on the offer real soon...

This place is all heart! If you want to experience indigenous Indian Mexican food this is it. The only place this side of the border to experience ant mole and huaxmole mole with a side of mango cheesecake! Takes me back to Oaxaca el centro before boarding a bus to Puerto Escondido.
