When booking the reservation the staff was very friendly and made sure all details for our party were taken care of. Our server was very informed on the menu and daily selections. If possible try an omakase experience. The chef's menu was surprising, innovative and did not disappoint.
Best sushi experience I’ve had. Our group of 4 ordered the chef’s choice and so didn’t have to select anything (though you can tell them foods you don’t eat and foods you especially like)- plate after plate of beautiful, novel and delicious sushi, nigiri, sashimi and more... rather pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Valet parking was a bonus. Definitely make reservations.

Really really large portions of great, authentic food! You can get broccoli as a side instead of rice, which is a great option if you’re into that veggie life. Prices are super affordable for everything you get!

Well done, Uchi. Visiting from out of town I dined with a friend at the bar. We enjoyed a well- rounded sampling of the menu. The tongue, short ribs, atún/watermelon, king crab, all stand out for me now. Unbelievably lively flavors, I mean, just delightful dishes. Such pride and ease of service by Han, informative presentation with an effortlessly sexy vibe. This is the place. It is the kind of experience worth repeating.
Simply amazing family style service. Fresh and delicious. Chefs choice a 10 course wonder. You never know what's coming and the excitement is raised at each course. Lovely presentation with sake and extremely attentive staff.
I can't explain the level of satisfaction I have for this place of art. I went on a reservation with a party of six and they were running slightly behind schedule. They were extremely generous in their apology and made appropriate arrangements for us.
I'm vegan, the other party guests weren't yet we all had the best experience at a restaurant.

One of the best sushi places in town! Don't wait on the last minute to book your reservation, it's a sushi hot spot! Price is expensive but definitely worth every penny.

WOW! Amazing food and even better service! Jessica at the wine bar was the epitome of a host/server/bar tender, it was honestly one of the best restaurant experiences ever. Jessica new exactly what my husband and I would enjoy and the perfect drink to pair. We stopped in for a quick bite and left throughly pleased 2 hrs later. Liked By Non Sushi Eaters Too. Made my very picky non-sushi eating cousins take me here while I was visiting. Awesome ladies them. We ordered the kabocha tempura, shrimp tempura, karaage and every beef roll, beef hot rock and beef nigiri option available. They loved the tempuras, hot rock, pitchfork and dessert but were less enthused about the ushi maki and the other very rare item, the waygu nigiri. Could not get them to even look at what was probably the safest roll for beginners, a tuna roll. Silly rabbits. I topped off their left overs with the outstanding hama chili and an fantastic single piece of Hokkaido uni. Spectacular service by a dark haired waitress that knew every detail of the menu and magically appeared within seconds of you needing her. Can't remember her name so I'll remember her as "Awesome". Believe the hype.

We had John today as our server on this visit and was just Awesome! He helped some new comer friends of mine make some great choices and some of his own suggestions they enjoyed.
They have already noted they would return, without a doubt.
Food, Service, Knowledge, Environment, Everything was on point.
I attempt to tell everyone when you come here. You probably won’t be full, but you’ll experience an explosion of flavors in each dish.
So try to be open minded and play on what spices, flavors, foods, etc. people already enjoy.
Uchi takes that and just elevates the bar to the next level.
I love the new items on the menu, Hot / Cold Ousters! They just ruined what I want to expect from all oysters going forward.
New roll options! I don’t want to spoil it for you. Stop in, if you haven’t been in a while. They have something for you to try.

Still amazing food!!! I used to go to Uchi all the time when I lived in Houston, especially for happy hour. I came back after 4 years and the food, ambiance & service is still top notch! I sat at the wine bar & got excellent service from Hudson as well as interesting conversation. I took a number of his recommendations & was pleased with each one. The food quality & presentation is top notch. One of my favorite restaurants in Houston.
One of the best meals we had in Houston.
Chose the Feed Me option at the sushi counter and had no regrets. Our chef and server was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive while still giving us space to talk among ourselves. The food is absolutely phenomenal, presented beautifully, and paced perfectly. This is a meal we still talk about, and will definitely make our way back next time we visit.
Be sure to have a reservation as they are pretty busy even on weekdays. The food was great and our server Matt was amazing, he even taught us a few things about the Sushi industry and certain types of fish. Highly recommend doing the omakase to try a variety of things, they even have a vegetarian option for this.
4.5 | incredible food, highly recommended and their flavors are immaculate. ate with some folks in the food industry and this is one of their top three spots in Houston. they did the vegan tasting menu and I had some samples of their dishes and it was incredible! I would probably add this to the first place I come back to next time in Houston. they had a short rib dish in a shrimp stock that steeped for 72 hrs and it was some of the most flavorful dishes I’ve had. so so good.
Excellent food and service!!! Modern music surrounds the place, in good volume to be able to chat with your date. A bit dark lighting. Sakes are awesome, from hot to cold, with gold or fruity!!! Otoro fatty tuna is a must… like butter melting on your mouth… A reservation recommended!!! Parking is difficult.
This was an overall great experience. The service was excellent, and they always made sure we were very informed of what was going on with the menu. We tried to tasting menu. Which was a little bit of everything. This was hands down some of the best flavors of sushi I've ever had. If you're looking for a great upscale dining experience on sushi, this is your place to go. Everything was delicious, all the staff was super nice, Han was an amazing server. All the plates were unique and flavorful with great texture. I will for sure come back soon to try more things in the menu! One of the best japanese places in Houston. The pork belly roll and the shortrib were amazing!

Wife and I visited Uchi (6:30 res at sushi bar) for the 1st time on Tuesday night before Thanksgiving. We decided to go à la carte instead of ~$175 omakse 15 course tasting menu, and our server Nick was very knowledgable and helpful in assisting. Almost everything was extremely tasty, however two dishes could have been better: 1) otoro w/ caviar was slightly over-charred, and also wasn't immediately served by the sushi chef but sat on the pass where it waited a couple minutes to be presented by another server. Such high end product (~$30/piece w/ tax&tip) should have been handed to us immediately by the sushi chef. Wish we had forgone the charring and caviar. 2) the unagi (eel) was heavily coated by an extremely sweet "fish caramel", which overpowered any delicate eel flavor.
With 2 sake cocktails and 2 beers our meal came to $270, including 20% tip. Next time we'll skip the otoro, eel, and Walu Walu (escolar, that was chewy/tough but maybe that's just the fish not preparation) and try other things on the menu. We'll definitely get the kinoko nabe (rice, mushrooms, beef rib, egg yolk) and fried pumpkin again. They were spectacular.
The food was extraordinarily fantastic but the service was not great at all.
We waited for a long time every time we needed our waiter. He was always no where to be found. In fact, we don’t know why he insisted on serving us because the other waiter was serving the surrounding tables whereas he’s always elsewhere. We waited for a long time to get soy sauce. We waited yet another long time to get a spoon in the end we gave up and shared a spoon. We waited for a long time to get the hot tea refilled. We waited for a long time to order extra food. We tried to ask for help from another waiter but he chose to ignore us. We really didn’t expect this kind of service from a place like Uchi.
Second visit at the sushi bar and the service was slightly better. Our sushi chef was abit quiet whereas the other sushi chef Albert was funny. Better experience this time I guess.
