Showed up at 4pm for happy hour. Was offered only til 430pm as far as I understood it. Food and service quick and attentive.
We ordered 2 yakitori plates, Japanese omelet, ankimo, shishamo, agedashi tofu, sashimi.
Also had a green tea drink.
Would be back. Would probably recommend reservations if u really want to eat here.

I was randomly walking by this place 2 months back when they were about to close for lunch. I am so happy I remembered to enjoy them for lunch today! The food was delightfully delicious! Perfect sized portions and lovely service. Excited to try other items on their menu during another lunch or dinner...Oishii desu nee!

Excellent service, food, and drinks. Their lunch menu is a very good deal. Will need to return for dinner to try their skewers….
Came back to try their dinner menu, we had an assortment of their skewers which were good but service was a little rushed, and unfortunately my spicy tuna roll was made with rice that was extremely over cooked and was drenched in sauce in an unappetizing way. My udon soup was very tasty but the tempura shrimp inside was soggy. My husband’s sushi platter came with the same over cooked rice which was extremely disappointing since the fish was excellent. Not sure if they have a new cook, but after spending so much on dinner and for something as basic as getting the rice wrong at a Japanese restaurant…I just can’t wrap my head around that.

Hard to find but it’s dam worth it. Open alleyway entrance to a simple sleek dinner experience. Yakitori was operated by a master chef, shared a glass of sake with him. Waiter and waitress extremely nice and professional. Food was exquisite, best so far in my Honolulu experience and for authenticity sakes, Aki was very authentic. Will bring friends here and will definitely come again

Japanese Restaurant Aki makes me feel like I’m in Japan! The location of the restaurant is in between alleyways among Kaimuki restaurant row 1137 11th Ave. I find it very cozy and cute of a location! The restaurant is semi open door! I love the big open window and open kitchen design.
Speaking of the foods, all dishes were so perfect! I’d go back to try the rest of the menu. Here’s photos of what we ordered for the table.

Really nice izakaya that serves high quality authentic Japanese food. Not loud or roudy and perfect for a family atmosphere.

Very charming cute little restaurant. Amazing food and service. Seeing the yakitori being cooked in front of you is pretty cool. Sushi was also top notch.
