Review Senba Restaurant - Honolulu

You know its a good Japanese restaurant when most of the patrons are Japanese speakers. The price is decent and this place satisfy my ikura/uni cravings. Most of the meals comes with both a rice and soba combo. Also, this is the first time I tried sobayu, and its so good! Thanks for that experience.

It’s an authentic Japan soba restaurant😊 We had a Tempura bowl with cold soba noodle sets. The noodle was perfectly cooked and the taste was amazing! Also service was great. I loved it!

This place is a hidden little gem that seems to be only known by the local. I was lucky enough to find this place while searching for a place to eat and do not regret coming here at all. I got the soba noodle cold with tempura. The tempura was flaky and lightly fried. The soba noodle is made in-house and extremely well cooked and tender. Please slurp the noodles as this is the proper way of showing respect to the chef; it also makes it more flavorful. At the end, they give you a teapot of soba noodle soup to put it with your sauce; the soba-Yu. Drink it like tea. That was so satisfying after the meal. A great palate cleanser as well. It’s a little out-of-the-way, but definitely worth it.

Adorable Japanese Restaurant! Food is really authentic served in true Japanese atmosphere. The service is at a very high level, the waiters are attentive and ready to help you at any time. I really like the presentation of dishes and the uniqueness of the menu. We ordered Kano (Duck) Nanban Soba with egg and Tori (Chicken) Nanban Soba. The broth was delicious however a soba has a specific taste, so I think that connoisseurs can really appreciate the soba in this restaurant.

The service is much better than during the pandemic time. Surprised walking in available. It looks like the restaurant has more spaces now. If you want something quick and decent. This is a great place to go to. If no one talks too loud, you will feel it’s in Japan 🇯🇵

Excellent traditional Japanese. Went for a 9 person dinner. Small space so I called ahead (no OpenTable but if you call they'll reserve), and they asked for orders ahead of time which I appreciate for efficiency. Cost can be up their but portions are ridiculously BIG so worth it. We did the fresh soba which was noticeably smoother, ikura, scallop, uni bowl which was so good and tempura which is quality. Staff are on it in getting you whatever. Solid all around. No complaints.

My curry soba tastes pretty mediocre, but the COLD soba was perfectly cooked (prob the best soba I’ve ever had). If you’re into soba, sushi, and uni, you get to enjoy allll of them in one setting. My partner loved this place 💗

I don't know how this soba tastes so good. We were a "walk in" and barely made it in. There were quite a few people who had reservations, but we were able to squeeze in even at opening time. I would come by to visit again for sure. I'm a new fan and want to visit the other locations on the main land.

Get a reservation early here. We were able to park near by in a small lot. It's BYOB. Soba is great - both cold and hot ones. We tried the maguro natto and the natto tempura. I think the latter is not that worth it. The large assorted tempura for us had 2 shrimp, 1 fish, and like 4 random vegetables. They were deliciously fried but didn't feel very "large". The oshu sushis are really good though (both salmon ikura and the makerel ones). Might be chilly in here for you though, so heads up. Good vibe. There's counter seating for sashimi stuff and tempura too I think, if you're interested too. Enjoy!

Hidden gem of Honolulu. Traditional and authentic Japanese food. The atmosphere is complete with its aesthetics, the aroma from the kitchen, the coziness from the seats, and the staff welcoming customers. Get a reservation for a guaranteed table service. If traveling as one or two, there is a bar side table.

Tempura is light and crispy. Soba noodles are made fresh and have perfect firm texture. Some sushi options and lots of combo choices on the menu. The restaurant has a simple, family atmosphere with a BYOB policy. Parking lot could fill up quick, so carpool if you can. Could use a little more tempura sauce, but I am sure they'd be happy to give me more if I asked!

Great food. Great service. The homemade soba was superb. Wish we had more time there. We dined twice while we were around that area. Breakfast, however served different food. Most of them are kind of pre-packed. But still taste good. I like their Japanese pumpkin but a little wee too sweet for me. They have variety of tempura. You even choose ala-carte. Recommended for those who like noodles :)

It says “Hawai’i Locals have been loving I-Naba’s Soba and Tempura for 10 years now. Using quality ingredients shipped directly from Japan. Buckwheat flour from Shinshu, bonito from Kyoto and Nori from Osaka. I-Naba then creates delicious soba noodles with Hawaii’s natural water and salt, for maximum flavor. For its Tempura, I-Naba fries up organic local vegetables, to enhance the sweetness of each bite…..it cannot be bad. There were many combo menus and I chose gyudon (beef bowl ) and Half soba combo. Very good.!

Everything we had from the pork belly, cold soba, tempura white fish, Hamachi sushi, eel, fried ice cream and more was excellent! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting amazing Japanese food! The staff was also very kind, helpful and prompt! It is BYOB so if you want alcoholic beverages you'll need to bring them. I honestly don't think I could have handled anything more than water with all of the delicious food but thought I'd mention it! Amazing food and experience!

Truly one of the best soba restaurants around. This place convinced my soba-ambivalent friends to become soba fans. I highly recommend going with cold soba dishes over hot, since the heat will disintegrate the noodles quickly. True soba is made with 100% buckwheat, and you can really taste the difference vs store-bought soba which is a mix of buckwheat and wheat. My favorite is the hana soba which contains tons of ikura, yam, and uni. Its texture might be off-putting to those who aren’t familiar with grated yam, but the dish is so refreshing. You really can’t go wrong with any of the dishes here. Tempura is also done exceptionally well here! I ordered the half eel (anago) tempura and really loved it. Make sure to call in for a reservation! I made a res for my large group of 8 one week in advance.

Amazing restaurant with over and above service. All of the food from the udon to the sashimi have been delicious. The last time we were there, the server offered to clean my daughter’s bib and placemat that she used for dinner. Absolutely recommend this place and I wish we could come eat here more often.

It is the best Japanese restaurant in Hawaii, I eat here once a week. And the price is good. the decoration inside is also very Japanese. The food is clean and the service is very nice, the best of the food is theirs soba, I like to eat the hot soba even it is in the hot summer day. If u want to choose a Japanese restaurant in Hawaii then choose Inaba.

One of the best Japanese restaurants I've been to in Oahu. The soba is done masterfully and the broth is extremely clean with lots of flavour. Tempura is well done with the perfect amount of crunch and deep fried in clean oil.

Popped in for lunch because during holiday because I love soba and SF doesn’t have what I need. Smelt tempura was ethereal served with salt and matcha. Mom had the chicken soba, sis had the mushroom soba, and I had the uni and ikura set. Umami all the way. Also had a spicy mentai appetizer that was appe-teasing.
