Review Rio Sushi - Honolulu

Andrea
The food here is incredible. We enjoyed the deluxe sushi platter, grilled shrimp salad, and kobe beef sliders. I recommend a table on the patio if possible to enjoy the fresh air as the AC inside was a little much for us. Plus we had a view of the performers below. For families with young children, we did not see a kids menu but the kids loved the Kobe Beef Sliders and the grilled shrimp salad. I think the shrimp tempura would have been a great option for little ones as well.

Great food and service, and very reasonable prices. I really like the venue and vibe too. Recommended. Christmas lights in the Waikiki Market centre outside are worth seeing too at this time of year.

FULL STOP. Looking for Sushi in Waikiki? Fantastic. No need to search out off-strip walk about "local" fan fare. Service is fantastic. Price - value? Yes. Skip the place across the hall. The guys tonight were the best. I've walked by this place many times, finally dropped in to check it out. Sushi quality was shocking to me, not what I expected, thinking it's gonna be lame tourista joint. Nope. Sit at the sushi bar, skip the tables. They also have a cool full bar in the back - trust me, you won't be disappointed. Cool ambiance too.

We wanted a place with fresh sushi and this place had decent prices and decent reviews. I did make a reservation online a few hours before. It is on the third floor of the mall there. They do have a patio but it is small, but the restaurant is open air as well. The atmosphere here is super cool with live edge wood tables. They were busy but the server was doing the best he could keeping up with all of his tables so props to him. The hot tea here is actually really good. We ordered the spicy edamame for appetizer and it was really good and also quite spicy! We ordered three rolls, the god of fire, Hamachi garlic roll, and ultimate spicy tuna roll. All were pretty decent but the ultimate tuna was the best. We also ordered a nigiri which was just okay. We got the tempura brownie for dessert which was different and interesting! Due to the tempura batter, it felt like a brownie merged with a funnel cake. Overall most of the sushi places in Waikiki are over $20/roll. This place fits the bill for $20/roll or less and is pretty good for what it is.

I have been here before and it was great, so I came back. I was not disappointed. I had the brussel sprouts, spicy tuna crispy rice, and the pork belly scallops. All three were really good, but the spicy tuna crispy rice was phenomenal.

Located inside the Royal Hawaiian Center on the third floor. It gets quite crowded and loud inside. Large parking garage with validated parking. They have a nice bar and lots of seating. The quality of the food was excellent. I enjoyed everything we ordered. The sushi deluxe combo was so good I forgot to take a picture lol. The sushi and sashimi felt a little over priced though.

Doraku was a nice surprise. it was clean, nicely decorated and had an open air lanai in one corner. We ordered a few rolls and some sashimi just for a light snack but everything was so fresh and the flavor combinations so good that we declared it as our new favorite in Waikiki. the rolls are huge, definitely bring your appetite. The God of fire roll was amazing, so many great textures. The Garlic Hamachi roll was fantastic. We loved reading through the menu and finding rolls that we’ve not seen at the other sushi spots. Can’t wait to go back

This place is great, in the heart of Waikiki if you're looking for and upscale sushi place this is it. The service was great They did not see us until everyone in our party arrived. There is parking in the structure $4 with validation. The staff was very attentive explained everything perfectly and helped out. When it started to rain they move things around so we could still sit outside. The atmosphere was great You said on the patio which can get a little loud from the street performers, but when the rain started that solved the street noise. I would recommend this in return. Mahalo

We came here for dinner and got a great spot by the balcony. We ordered some Poke for starters and it tasted very fresh. The drinks were decent as well. The rest of the Sushi was fairly average but did taste fresh compared to a lot of other places I've eaten in the past. Seemed to be a slower night so service was fairly quick.

Best sushi we have ever had!! Our server was very friendly and attentive. I wasn’t a fan of raw sushi until coming to this place. It’s a little pricey, but I think worth the price. I would come back here!

Excellent experience with beautiful Japanese seafood delicacies. We ordered the Platinum that has over 65 pieces of sushi presented on a beautiful block of wood. Each handcrafted selection offered the essential flavors from the oceans of Japan. This was a visual as well as a pallette driven adventure. We also ordered the Oster shooters that were well crafted. The heat mixed with the slight soy and scallion flavors was a nice mix.

Busy as hell on a Saturday night, we had a walk in and had to wait about an hr but the staff was very friendly and didn't get the least annoyed with the constant asking if the table was available. A group of what appeared to be fashionistas was very loud, made having our own discussions difficult...but..the service was excellent. Our waitress was fantastic, she kept expectations managed about how long it would take for drinks and food because of how busy it was...and then everything came quickly. Drinks were top notch, sushi was excellent. I would definitely come again, maybe not on a Saturday night, I'm a little older and like a more peaceful meal. Great restaurant.

This place came recommended to me as a sushi place to eat at on our vacation but there weren’t a lot of options to choose from it was more a la carte. It has a nice, casual atmosphere but the hostess & one of our servers just rubbed me the wrong way. We did have another server who was also paying attention to us and he was super friendly and took off my seaweed salad that I didn’t like and I didn’t even ask. I’m still giving this place a 5 star because I think it might have just been an off experience & maybe my expectations were too high because the rolls we ordered did taste good.

Always a must stop in Waikiki. Went with big party, need reservation as can get busy. Assume will wait if none. Food is good. Not a huge fan of fried rice but fish is good quality. Reasonable prices for Hawaii.
