Yilmi Jung Restaurant - Honolulu - Photo album

we came as a walk-in at almost 6pm. only had 1 hr to eat since a 7pm reservation. the food came out really slow but soooo delicious. paired with yuzu cocktail. super refreshing.
Not great for larger groups because it's a small restaurant that's very busy, but if you can get a seat the food is phenomenal and the prices are very reasonable. It's the most authentic local Japanese okazuya place I know of in Waikiki
Very delicious, affordable, and unpretentious. Worth a late night stop after a long day in the sun. Five stars, check it out.
Very pleasant surprise. We did a to-go order, it took ~30 min to get our food. We’ll definitely order again or come dine at the restaurant. We loved the kaarage, the croquettes, the gyozas, and the grilled squid. Cannot wait to eat them again soon! We felt indifferent a about the yakitori, it was b
Managed to call in an impromptu reservation an hour ahead and so glad we did! Atmosphere and food 10/10. LOVED the unagi don, miso beef intestines, jellyfish, and the bbq squid which was probably the best squid of my life - practically buttery! The only thing I wouldn't reorder would be the oolong
My sister and I eat here every chance we get. The food is so delicious and fresh! This is real traditional Japanese food, prepared with love. The grilled mackerel was our favorite, but the takoyaki and ebi shumai were delicious as well. (It’s all really fresh, so careful not to burn your mouth!) Ge
Oishi. Such a refreshingly cozy atmosphere in the Waikiki area. Everything we ate and drank was delicious. The prices are reasonable too, which is rare in the area. If I were a local, this would be a regular spot.
Very charming little hole in the wall with great service and very good food at great price, especially for Hawaii. I loved sitting at this cheap table and chair, enjoying this Tokyo atmosphere in the heart of Waikiki. I definitely recommend!!! The hosts and servers were very nice and attentive and e
Such a fun place to have a great meal and hang out with friends - at a super reasonable price. All dishes are meant to be shared and it was a pleasure to try dishes. Favs definitely included jelly fish, bbq squid and pork belly. Definitely somewhere we will be visiting everytime we’re there.
We waited at least 30 min until we get our first dish, and then another 10 min until the second dish… service was good but they are for sure understaffed. Four stars because the chicken had a very gamey taste, grilled squid tasted mediocre, and stir fry veggie also tasted mediocre (too much ginger!
Hidden gem found tucked away. Look for the paper lanterns. We ate at higher end restaurants and this surpasses them not just in flavor but also in best bang for your buck. Server was a little awkward but friendly. We sat down in what seemed to be an authentic Japanese restaurant, but I haven't been
Great service at this tiny and delicious food stop! We were strolling around Waikiki on a warm Summer night when we stumbled upon this Japanese patio cafe behind a rundown building and under a tapas restaurant. We peeked inside and it looked promising, so we stopped to try it out. Thank goodness we
Highly recommended, great Izakaya experience. However, the menu is geared for western tastes compared to Izakayas in Japan. No complaints since the food does taste good along with a short selection of drinks.
This place is so good. We showed up without a reservation on a Friday night but got sat immediately at the bar. We ordered a few small dishes all of which were plated nicely and SO TASTY. Service was also very friendly and quick. Everything we got was so fresh and delicious!!! Come here for a great
We got the cold tofu, yakitori, grilled mackerel, and katsu curry. Everything was delicious, especially the mackerel and curry. The mackerel was grilled perfectly, and the curry was more sweet than normal but still very tasty. When we got there, the place seemed understaffed and we waited for a long
Every dish we ordered was full of flavor. The grilled mackerel is my favorite, with its skin grilled to perfection. Will definitely come back!
HIDDEN GEM ALERT! Tucked away in the corner is this small (~6 tables) Japanese restaurant that's authentic to it's origin. The wait is not too long, but it's to be expected since there's only 1 waitress (so cut her some slack); as for rudeness, I didn't encounter any, maybe because I was quick to or
A local gem of a culinary experience off a side street in Waikiki. It is authentic as any Izakaya I've been to (and I've been to Japan a few times). Clearly a place with regulars and a great variety of local small bites from noodles to grilled fish and chicken items. Good saki ($10 a glass) and beer
