Review Hihimanu Sushi - Honolulu

Chef Ray holds a certain presence that only comes with years of perfecting his craft. I’ve only seen it a few times. As a chef and full time culinary professional I couldn’t rate this wonderful slice of sushi heaven higher. Magnificent

We saw this restaurant from little red book AKA 小红书. which some one recommend this omakase in Hawaii. Booked on resy or tock. it has 18 courses and actually i am pretty full after this dinner. Chef is super friendly and funny person. we have good conversation with him together with the delicious food. The price is about 220~250 each person after tax tip etc. i would say i have never had anything that good in this price range. Especially compare to similar omakase in Los Angeles would cost like 300-400 per person. Fish and nice are done to the point, and all dishes come out in decent speed, so we don't have to wait too long between each course. I would suggest this restaurant and would come back again on our next trip to Hawaii.

Had my first omakase here and it was just my wife and I the rest of the party canceled. That was probably the best thing cause it was a 1on1 interaction and everything was perfect. Started off light and then it got pretty crazy but enjoyable and the experience was great. Thank you.

Hinimanu sushi is a great omakase experience: first class ingredients, highly skilled chefs and great presentation/show (they require - or at least ask for - all the guests to be sat down and ready, and they pace the servings for everyone). Even though I am personally more attracted to a simpler approach, this place is undeniably a good choice. Not cheap!

Excellent omakase, so many different flavor profiles that came together extremely well!

Went here for my early birthday last year, and the best experience I ever had, fresh high quality ingredients, well worth the price. A must of Uni lovers! as the Master just almost everything with Uni, also gold flakes if you into that fancy stuff as well.

Wow! Excellent! You just have to trust me. It’s Omakase so if your want rolls and spicy tuna with everything, this place is not for you. If you have a developed palette and are up for an orchestrated meal with ingredients from locally sourced seafood to Spanish trout roe then this place will not disappoint. Great service too. The staff was very attentive. The owner was slightly joking about a Michelin star. I think if they cleaned up the decor and the bathroom they could get a star. I say this not as a slam on HIhimaru because it’s has an eclectic decor and the bathroom are clean. But not up to Michelin standards. We will definitely make a reservation to eat there again when we go back in November. Reservations only and two services a day. 5:30 and 7:30 don’t be late. Thank you HIhimaru. Best Roger and Rita

Oh my god. Yes, intimate seating it’s only the counter and there’s two seatings a night. We were the second seating. We got there early and the first seating was still going so we decided to do two sake samplers to pick which bottle of sake we wanted. Went for the silk dragon I think. Gorgeous sake. Paired super well with the entire omakase. They have an extensive sake collection so there’s definitely something for everyone! Our neighbors got the same bottle as us! Fancy spot in a not so fancy part of town. And when I say this it’s not in the ghettos- it’s just not Waikiki fancy if you know what I mean. If you have the time and was lucky enough to book at least 2/3weeks in advance then come and gain 10lbs hahaha.

The experience of the creativity the freshness and the presentation of the sushi and omasake was so incredible. It was the best food and Sushi experience of my life. Each plate had ingredients from all around the world and the freshest most delicious seafood i've ever tried. This is a gem!!! A must visit!!!

One of thee BEST sushi spots in all of Hawaii hands down. Impeccable service, the chef’s are awesome, and the dishes can’t get any better. It is omakase style, just to give you a heads up. but even if you’re not into sushi, I’d definitely still give it a go! Too good to miss out on.
