Review Tbd Hawaii - Honolulu

Michal Brichacek
Incredible! This was the best dinner we had during our time in Oahu. The Brussel Sprouts and Citrus Salad were both excellent. The truffle fries were also great and a very generous portion. The stand out of our meal however was the sliders. They were simply perfect. This place is located on the second floor of the Lotus Honolulu. It is a bit out of the way compared to most places in Waikiki, but you will not leave disappointed!

Everyone at tbd are truly good people. Great conversation, great service, and generally caring. I definitely recommend this place - from bartenders and servers to managent, I can't imagine you'll find anyone here who want leave you smiling. Now, about the food. My compliments to the chef. I had the Australian Wagyu Beef Sliders and the Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts - I'll probably never order anything else off the menu if I'm being totally honest. It was so good. The brioche bun was fluffed to perfection, the wagyu patty was juicy and delicious, the gruyere cheese (I think it may be aged as it's got a slightly earthier taste which compliments the whole dish nicely) was melted just right, and the garlic aioli brings an intense garlic taste that truly makes the dish pop. Definitely get the brussel sprouts to start if you like the spicy, tangy goodness on your veggies!

Definitely a fine dining, small plates place. Was here on a Thursday and we were essentially the only people in the restaurant. Interesting thing about this restaurant, they have a prix fixe menu available only in their dinning room, but if you are seated in the lounge you can order individual Items from that tasting menu. Kind of a one way thing though, if you’re in the dinning room, you are limited to the set menu. Food was fantastic as was the service, we had a special request for vegetables and they happily accommodated, but were surprised by the request for a side of Brussels sprouts.

Our server Damien was a level above the rest. The dinner was beyond our expectations and it was such a breath of fresh air to get real, wholesome, fine dining service. Desserts were beautifully presented , delicious and just the perfect portions. Bar tender made some of the best cocktails we have had on this island and brought them personally to the table. Thank you so much for a memorable dining experience. We will spread the word, and will definitely be back.

Took advantage of free wine tasting offered Wed-Sunday. Comfortable atmosphere with attentive service. We decided on seats at the bar and was nicely served by Tosh. We started out with the tomato tartare. Delicious. Followed by a Kurubota pork chop, very tasty, I would’ve preferred a slightly less cook. My wife had risotto with Scallops, again prepared well, but rice was just slightly undercooked. We indulged with a dessert of cream puffs with caramel sauce which was more than enough for two. TBD provides a high quality meal at reasonable prices. Recommended.

This was an amazing experience. The food is delicious and memorable and the all inclusive 4-5 course meal is very filling. The ambiance is very fancy minimalistic. The chef seemed very enthusiastic and the vibe of the place was very french. They do have very tasty vegetarian options in the meals, which is a huge plus. Wouldn't go there every week as it's expensive as all hell, but great place to celebrate an occasion or a rare date night.

Modern and global cuisine in the lotus hotel. We got the 59 dollar per person 4 course set menu, which was good and solid value. The shrimp escargot replaces the slimy texture of snail with a chewy q texture. The flavor was relatively light for escargot, which paired the shrimp better. The beef tartare had a well accompanying mustard blend, not strong yet subtle. The beef was very fine; I would’ve appreciated a more raw texture. The onion soup had an earthy sweet flavor. The essence of onion was encapsulated well in a bowl without butter or cream to steal the spotlight. The salad was good, but not the most inspired salad I’ve had, featuring a solid balsamic, blue cheese, pear, beets, and some basic greens. The pear was perfectly ripe. The mains were alright. The scallop risotto was textbook. The lamb shank was decent but with slightly undercooked carrots. The mango kulfi dessert was the highlight. It was delicious and creative, wrapping mango kulfi in a sweet chocolate shell.

Every bite was a WOW! The food was an amazing blend of flavors and textures. We had the bread starter, ahi tartare (would order again, so good!), baked shrimp (another 5 stars), red and green salad, onion soup, salmon, scallop risotto, banana creme puffs and mango kulfi. All items were incredible.

From the entrance to the appetizers, and all the way to dessert, this place was outstanding. So far it’s been one of the funnest places we’ve gone to here in Hawaii and we completely understand why it’s rated as high as it is!

We had the most lovely evening. We celebrated an anniversary, a group of 7. Beautiful view of Diamond Head, lovely open air seating, great food ( we tasted everything!) The service was attentive, helpful and friendly. And the bartender made a wonderful Aviation. James, Bernie, Ryan, Ostean, and Wes, thank you all for a memorable evening. Oh, and quite a nice walk from Waikiki, out of the crazy business on Kalakaua. Treat yourself.

We were staying at the hotel and had a great dinner here on the last night of our honeymoon. Everything was delicious especially the bento box and scallops. We had a beautiful view of sunset over Diamond Head. It was a lovely restaurant and service. Highly recommend!

I would have never thought that an amazing dining experience would be in that hotel. I was floored by everything. It had nothing to do with the event I attended. It was all about the chef! His food was amazing. His staff, super awesome and efficient. Hats off and definitely someplace I want to go for dinner.

We had dinner for Christmas because I wanted to eat the 23K Mango kulfi which is pretty. Their service is good, food is very details and awesome, looks like an art. It was a wonderful time. Their place is very big space and enough room to be relaxed. It's very comfortable to have special dinner. Their bathroom is clean too. But it's little bit overpriced. Porcini soup was delicious.

This $30 burger was great (compared to the not great Rumfire burger). We didn't have reservations on a Saturday pm but were able to get a seat at the bar. The atmosphere, service & menu are classy but not ostentatious. We were dressed casually & didn't mind bar seating. The Mai Tai was different than others I had in Hawaii, not as sweet, more complex & with bitters of some sort *should have asked; )

My wife and I went here for a date night and absolutely loved it. The staff was welcoming and helpful, the atmosphere met our expectations, and we had a great view of the park across the street. The most important part of course, the food, was excellent. I had steak frites, which was well prepared but the real star was the scallop and mushroom risotto my wife had. They also make excellent cocktails. We will definitely be back next time we are in Honolulu.

Best rib eye I’ve had in my life. The chief was so confident in the cooking of it that it was served with a butter knife and I was not disappointed. Food is pricey but worth it.
