Review Encore Saloon - Honolulu

Marc Whiting
Amazing food, all of the tacos and the meat was delicious. Our waiter offered up fantastic drink recommendations and suggestions throughout the evening and was even very kind with our toddler. I wish I had caught our waiter's name. Anyway, fantastic evening, thank you!!
Maria Remos
Sweetest bartender. The mushroom taco is good but the barbacoa is unreal. The salsa roja has perfect heat and the margaritas tasty. Taco Tuesday is alive in Chinatown Honolulu!

Good professional servers with fairly priced great food / cocktails in a historic location. The only thing mo’betta would be to move the tv monitor away from such a lovely back bar layout. (Let the Olive Garden etc have the sports theme…plus seemed to be providing the staff greater entertainment than the patrons)

Husband and I really enjoyed our lunch here! We each had a baja fish taco that we both devoured. We also shared a portion of nachos with carne asada as well as a bowl of the street corn and those two were similarly tasty. We split a Chris Kattan cocktail between us both and it was both pretty and delicious. Service was especially kind and thoughtful. Highly recommend and would come back in the future!

Brisket was awesome. Draft beers were nice. Great service and thoughtful recommendations by the employees. Definitely would recommend outside seating.

This place felt soooooo comfortable. The tacos were ALL out of this world! Barbacoa, carnitas & Baja fish tacos were our favorite. I loved the design & the style of the place. A hidden gem of Honolulu!

Pretty good food and a decent house margarita. The Tree Hunger plate was good. Edit: recently changed their menu. Compare for yourself in the pictures.

The best place I've found for tacos on the leeward side. Good pricing and on Tuesday they have a couple of specials. Frequently featuring live music. Great place to go for lunch or late night.

Had a great time sampling their large selection of Mezcals. Everyone in our group agreed that all the "Rey Campero" Mezcals we're excellent, with the "Tepextate" being our favorite. The tacos were pretty good for the price, with the carnitas being the clear winner. Didn't have the nachos, but they looked super tasty. Will definitely try next time. Very friendly, knowledgeable and patient staff, that took time to answer all our ridiculous questions and help us decipher the somewhat confusing Mezcal menu. The shots were pricey, but we had a great time and walked away feeling like we got our money's worth. I mean, where else on Oahu can you drink from a selection of Mezcal this vast, with good food and service? Highly recommend.

Both times I’ve been here, it has been a beautiful experience. The service and the food is absolutely incredible! I really enjoyed my mahi-mahi bowl with the house margarita (: I will for sure be coming back here with my boyfriend to try out their tequila flight (: Mahalo for great service ❤️

Great burritos, tacos, and nachos. Service was good and plenty of seating. Typical China Town parking...Beer selection was small,, but ok.. A must try.

We stumbled upon this place while we were restaurant/bar hopping. And for a couple of mezcal lovers, this was a dream to find! We started with cocktails- a beautifully balanced drink with tequila, mezcal, Aperol, avocado pit orgeat (so creative!!), and likely some citrus. I forget the name. For food we tried a Pork Carnitas Taco, a Carne Asado Taco, Chips & Guac & Salsa, and Street Corn. All the food was amazing- well seasoned and great flavor combination. The chips definitely taste like they make them in house. After that, we loaded up on some mezcals to try. They had a pretty solid selection- some that you can find more commonly (such as Bozal, Alipus, and the Del Maguey lineup) and some that I hadn’t heard of yet that were super tasty! They served their mezcals traditionally with orange slices and Sal de Gusano (worm salt!). I do wish their mezcals were served in those clay Copitas to really hone in on the tradition even more! Service was great. The bartender helped us out a bunch and answered our millions of questions. I know when visiting Hawaii, your go to is probably tiki drinks, but branch out and go check out this mezcaleria. You won’t be disappointed!

It’s got the exposed brick, wooden beams, and $3 Pacifico down. Open court yard in the back is a nice accessory. The burger was tasty just a bit messy. I prefer early to beat the crowds and enjoy the space.

The house Margarita and Mezcal are amazing - 5 stars! Tacos and nachos are pretty good - 4 stars. Definitely try the cocktails!!! 🍹🥃

I saw other reviews saying the food wasn't worth it. The fish tacos were outstanding, the salad was terrific, and the sides were tasty as well. Not over priced at all, I found that confusing. Try it for yourself. If you're from or have been to southern California, you'll find yourself at home.

What bad can honestly be said about this place? Could you say the ambience is whack? I would say definitely not! It has a Portland bar kind of vibe which is interesting to find here on Oahu. Music was perfect mixing up some local radio tunes with a mix of other great tunes. Didn't hear one bad song! Could you say the service sucked? Not from our experience! We absolutely loved our bartender (Clarissa) and the bar back was Johnny on the spot when it came to bringing us our food and clearing our plates and empty glasses. Our bartender always had an eye on our beers, checking in at the perfect time to refill us. Could you say the food was garbage? I surely would disagree! I tried 5x of their tacos and every single one was absolutely delicious jam packed with flavor!! The deconstructed elote aka Mexican corn was bomb.com! Saw a couple next to us that got the corn and chips w/guacamole and used chips for the corn too. Touche neighbor and great thinking. Saving that trick for our next visit. We have tried to find GOOD tasting Mexican on the island since moving here in April and this is the 2nd place we've found w/ Taqueria La Marea being the other and a MUST TRY if you have not yet! Just beware of the lack of hours/days they are open. Is pricing your issue? Not when it comes to drinks! A pitcher of Pacifico for $11?! Yes please! Tecate can for $4? Don't mind if I get 2x! And the food pricing? ALL reasonably priced especially considering its in Chinatown. $3.50 for a street taco is decent considering how dang tasty it is! The bowl of Mexican corn was deceiving or maybe after the 5th taco I was just that full? I typically share pix of our food but my phone died right when we got seated. They are 110% doing VAX checks and masks are required to enter and while not eating/drinking. No complaints here about them enforcing that. Parking may be the only thing you could complain about just because they are in Chinatown so street parking is your option. That or biking there or something. Anyways we will 110% be back to grub and are telling all of our friends about this place!

Good local bar with very good tacos and a variety if Mexican sides.

Delicious food and watermelon agua frescas! Vegetarian options were flavorful. Laid back atmosphere.

Hands down the best Mexican food on the island. Seated immediately, and serve some excellent drinks very quickly. They have a rotation of margaritas on tap, with fresh beer on draft and a huge selection of mezcal and tequila. The food was perfectly seasoned and came out quickly. Had the beef, chicken and pork tacos. Gf had the pork nachos. Everything was perfect!

Marcy, I believe it was, was my bartender and had a great personality. Very professional and engaging. Great music and very clean. Loved the metal straw touch Ordered both the chicken and barbecoa beef tacos with a side of chips, salsa and guacamole. Tacos were good, but overloaded with meat for the size of the tortilla -- would rather have a smaller portion for a cheaper price. Also, would suggest a "mix and match option" in the future. Not drinking currently, but was intrigued by the $10 "Painkiller" slushee option. Glad to hear they have live music at night; great atmosphere with the large patio I'm sure!

Fantastic food. Great service. First, I came in with a friend late. It was one of the few places open late night. I felt terrible but the staff was happy to serve us. Beer was cheep and service was quick. My friends Paloma margarita was dreamy. Chips here are baller little puffy dreams. Their guac had the perfect amount of cilantro. We ordered steak, chicken and fish. All were yummy but the steak was my favorite. I will definitely be back!

So far, the only place on the island that comes close to good Mexican food.
Darlene Cheezecake Mosley
I had fish tacos and beans and rice. Beans and rice was cold. Tacos were ok. I like grilled better.
Joy Loudermelt
Great food at a good price. Wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms are huge and clean. Big outdoor patio. I'll be back.
Nicole Schubert
Delicious margaritas. Loved the house made chips and salsa, and the street corn was tasty with the chips. Tried the fish, chicken Mole, and Beef tacos and enjoyed all of them. Really fun cocktail menu also.
Sarah Hocking
We stopped here for drinks after dinner. The two guys behind the bar were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and the drinks were fantastic. Will be back (hopefully before we head home)!
Annalisa Unbedacht
Got some margaritas, a Bloody Mary, fish tacos, and tortilla soup. Everything was killer.
Mike Harding
Awesome tequila and mezcal and food. Come check it out

Authentic Mexican food!! Fun place, great customer service. Everyone should stop by on taco Tuesday!

You need to update your Facebook page to reflect what you actually offer. Went there for 2 specific items which apparently you don't sell anymore!
Jackie Salinas
Their fried avocado is to die for! The perfect blend of avocado and coleslaw.

Triple Badass Super Deluxe!!! For my friends who live on the far ends of this island, it's totally worth the drive!

This place is fantastic! Wonderful food and great juices - one of our favorite places!

Headcheese Carnitas Tacos with pig ears was spectacular. Limon fresca was refreshing. Service was very friendly. Perfect stop for lunch after a great surf session in town.

As close as it can get to feeling familiar...Los Angeles ❤️❤️❤️
Anita Grover
The food was good! And this is from a picky eater.
Pablo Jimenez
The food is overpriced and lacks an inviting appearance and condiments. Taste is below average and no better than Taco Bell. They serve in metal trays and paper, including plastic forks and knives. It is a pretentious insult to Mexican food.
Heidi Better Hong
just ate there for the first time...can't wait to go back! everything we had was so delicious.
Marnee Gamble Bolen
The best salsa ever! !

Best Mexican food in Hawaii hands down!
