Review Yoshiya - Honolulu

Really, 10/10 everything! We came here for breakfast on a Friday, and now it’s my favorite spot for breakfast on the island. They use high quality ingredients and I didn’t feel like anything was too fatty or salty. Must get the breakfast set. Their homemade tofu is so good. Oh… best natto ever. If it wasn’t in Waikiki, I’d go every day lol. However, super easy walk across the street, parking at the zoo… or valet.

Food was really good and staff is friendly and patiently explain how every dish works. It is a bit on the pricey side, but overall an enjoyable experience for our group

Came here at a good time while there was hardly anyone here. We got our food pretty quick and it was probably my favorite restaurant during my vacation to Hawaii. The food was great, nothing spectacular but felt authentic. Can highly recommend it if you don't mind spending a little more money compared to the other restaurants in the area.

Hidden gem, indeed! $50 full course Sashimi Set was absolutely gorgeous. Extremely fresh. Many little delightful, housemade side dishes included for a stellar value. Scoop of ice cream at the end. I'll be back.

My husband and I both got the Japanese breakfast with mackerel -- very authentic and similar to breakfasts we've had in Japan. Every ingredient was fresh and delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and warm. Highly recommend!

Had an absolutely wonderful and authentic Japanese experience here. My servers were so helpful and took the time to explain everything. There were many courses and it was such a fun experience. Highly recommend for anyone that wants to experience a traditional Japanese dinner.

Authentic Japnese dinner. I ordered the course A with Salmon. Every appetizer was a nostalgic bite of my time living in Japan. The tokoroten (japanese jelly noodles) in mentsuyu was a spectacular intro to the course. (Best mentsuyu in Waikiki!) Other side dishes include yaki miso tofu, shrimp with yakimayo, kinpari gobo (burdock), and an interesting cucumber sandwich with a fermented peanut sauce. Very simple and traditional flavors. Sashimi, consisting of amberjack (i believe) and chutoro were very fresh. Tempura, fried and battered perfectly; however, the tentsuyu was lacking a little in the flavor department. Salmon belly, just melts in your mouth. Chawamushi, was a little bland in my taste. It had more of an egg umami relative to a dashi umami that I'm used to. Delightful nonetheless. With a miso soup and ice cream to conclude my meal. A great experience for those who want to experience a traditional japanese dinner. It's very authentic as in this is what you'll be getting in Japan; however, dont expect to be blown away. Especially when taking into account the Waikiki markup you'll paying. I would definitely come back for the Soba just to taste the mentsuyu again! Would recommend trying.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant hands down. The food is a reasonable price for the huge amount of it. And every time I’ve been there it’s been super fresh and always delicious. I love everything I’ve ever eaten in there. And it’s fun to sit in the back room on the zabuton cushions and tatami mats, relaxing and enjoying a hot sake. It really makes me feel like I’m back in Japan. The servers have also always been attentive and friendly. Very good service. I recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic and amazing Japanese meal.

The food was so good but the service was not great. Due to being understaffed, the service was suuuper slow, it was a full hour after we were seated when we got our main dish. The environment was not pleasant, it felt stuffy, there were no windows, but with quite a few flies flying about.

Very delicious and authentic Japanese food. We always get the set menus and are always satisfied and very full. The cold tofu that comes with every set menu is spectacular! We come here every time we come to Waikiki!

Customer service here was the best! We walked in and were genuinely welcomed! Great portion sizes and they ran after us to give our little kids a little toy. Love love love this place

Travelling to Oahu expecting the best Japanese cuisine in the US without breaking the bank. Expect over $50 per person but their beef is phenomenal. Great service and worth every penny you spend here. (Their entrance is in the hotel lobby in case you cannot find it.)

Found this hidden gem and decided to have dinner here for my birthday. Feels like you're in Japan when ordering the sets. Everything was delicious, a lot of food, everything was worth it. Sashimi was as fresh as it could be. No complaints, a must try when you're in the area. Make sure to make reservations as they might be needed depending on when you decide to dine.

Unique and authentic Japanese multi-course experience. Warning: pictures here are from the larger, more expensive imperial set dinner. Not pictured is the large plate of tempura and dessert. It was an absurdly rich, decadent, and excessive amount of food for 1 person. The sashimi plate: That massive cup of uni had sea scallops under it too. It was so rich I could not eat the sashimi alone--what a waste! Their butterfish was quite amazing, but for my palette, too sweet and rich especially after all that uni.

We ordered beef sukiyaki set and butterfish misoyaki full course. Both came with endless appetizers and all of them are yummy! I was exploded just after the appetizers. The beef was super tender, juicy and flavorful. Butterfish was crispy outside and tender inside. We love everything including the ice cream. Ice cream was extremely creamy and definitely high quality.
