They have classic treats that local kids grew up with. Mooncakes for mid-autumn festival, sweets for the new year and savory snacks. Their offerings are always tasty and their packaging recognizable and eye catching. But entering the storefront post-covid is very limited maybe 5-8 people and the line outside can get long. The line moves fairly quickly depending on patrons. Storefronts often have human debris and excrement, and dodging spots while walking to the line and waiting in line with unwashed people who beg takes away from the experience. But when you get to your own space and can enjoy your treats, it is well worth the process to attain them. It's like consuming local traditions handed down from generation to generation.

Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery. The real deal! Pork hash is huge and tasty! Manapua has plenty of meat. Mai tai su is great. Rice cake is rice cake. One of the best manapua place on the island.

Went to this place without looking it up first or reading any reviews and I'm glad I did! There was a line, but didn't have to wait long. There's a separate line for pick-up orders. The baked manapua, half moons and rice cake were all delicious. Half moons were big, plump, flavorful. The rice cake was not dense but big, gelatinous, jiggly, with the right amount of air pockets and sweetness. After my meal, I looked up the place and was not surprised at all the great reviews. I will definitely go back and try other items here.

The absolute BEST pork hash and half moon I ever had! They even have bags of large sized almond cookies and the tea cookies were awesome as well. This is my definite stop when I come home!

Amazing dim sum and treats! Everything is fresh. My favorite is the pork hash and shrimp dumplings — juicy, big portion & so yummy! My husband loves the Mac-nut sesame candy & assortment of seeds & sweet candies. Packaging is perfect for gifts. I love their manapua boxes with their gold logo and pretty red “good luck” recycle bags, too.

Love their manapua’s! The char siu manapua is so ono, as is the char siu su. Everything was devoured quickly! We had some half moons, chicken curry manapua and shrimp dumplings. Until next time! Tip: there is a Chinatown municipal parking lot directly across the street, which makes for easy parking!

I only ever had one item from them but I come back for it time and again. Pork-Hash. $1.35 for a ball just about 3" in diameter. And Juicy. Not a hard boiled lump like you get from pretty much everywhere else, but a large juicy, perfectly presented, globe of deliciousness.

Fast service. Parking is street parking. Last time I left here. I got a flat tire going back home. The bakery items here are tasty. The duck place next door is just as amazing. 10/2023 This place started to get a hit. Now there’s always a line here in the morning. But the quick bites hasn’t changed the quality they have been bringing. Always a good place.

Came here when there was a line out of the door. The line moved quickly and the people helping the customers were so nice and thoughtful. It was my first time there so the lady helping me answered all of my questions and even took me to the shelf of mini moon cakes to show me their inventory. Our mini moon cakes were so delicious and smelled so good. I will definitely come back--hopefully, I can grab some of their mochi moon cakes in the near future.

One of the most popular destinations in downtown for manapua, pork hash, ma tai soo, and other Chinese favorites. Definitely worth a visit, but expect to wait and be patient. Pork hash and ma tai soo we’re my favorites. Manapua is pretty good too. Stop by and get your eat on. 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Awww…becuz my fav dim sum place (Char Hung Sut) for manapua (bao) and pork hash (sui mai) closed, I had to find another go to place. This bakery comes close. The manapua contained a fair amount of meat compared to dough and the pork hash were good size. Tried the mochi sui mai which was similar to sticky rice except steamed in a won ton wrap. Also, ordered a couple of lup cheong baos…not bad, like a hot dog in a steamed bun. Recommend at least a try. Will go back.

My supervisor, who is born and raised in Hawaii, said that this place was her favorite Chinatown restaurant for dim sum, and now I cam see why. I rolled in at 4pm and there was no line, which made me feel like I lucked out since most of the pictures depict a line out the door. Going so late in the day though, they unfortunately ran out of Har gow, so I'll have to come back soon to try some of those. They charge per dim sum item, which keeps it super cheap. I ordered 8 pork hash, which is the Hawaiian take on siumai and 2 of the half moons. The pork hash was delicious - they were ginormous and well seasoned. The texture is more spongy and smooth compared to Cantonese siumai, kind of like ngau yuk. I did enjoy the crisp crunch of onions in some bites. The half moons were also good, which were filled with pork and veggies. I very much enjoyed dipping the dim sum in the shoyu mustard dipping sauce. My overall bill was $15, which I think is a steal. The counter person was also super friendly. Will definitely be coming back to order boxes-full to share with the office! Visa and Mastercard only.

This is the place to go on Oahu for traditional Chinese bakery goods and more. There is typically a long line that moves quickly. Love the Manapua, custard tarts and moon cakes.

Line was only 5 deep today so after going to Nam Fongs next door, stood in line for some taro cake and moon cake for good luck. Got the black bean with yolk and the 5 nuts with yolk moon cakes. Kinda different and yummy! They got pork hash, manapua, half moon, shrimp dumpling and more! 😋

Coconut Snow Puffs weren't for me but my wife loves them. Difficult to park nearby, so my wife dived out the car whilst we circled the block. Within 5 minutes we received the food even though the queue was out of the doorway. The manapua are definitely worth trying, a little sweet but that just tingles the taste buds more. Egg Custard is also very good. Only knocked a star off due to personal taste as some items just weren't for me. Although others in the family did like them more than I did

This place was so good!! Only waited a few minutes on an early Sunday morning. Had to get the char siu baked Manapua (very good and the most meat I’ve ever seen in Manapua and big chunks too), the sesame ball with coconut was amazing (can’t remember the actual name) it wasn’t too sweet and very chewy, then a mochi rice shumai which was also a nice savory pop! Everything I got was great

Amazing. The char siu we had there was perfect. Whether it was steamed or baked, it tasted amazing. The prices there are super reasonable too. $1.35 for a massive pork dumpling? Yes please. We should have taken pictures but we will definitly be going back for more. There was a bit of a line when we went but it moved quickly.

Absolutely fantastic classic and Hawaiian Chinese bakery. We got the Manapua, White Sugar Cake, Sweetheart Cake, and Custard Bun. ⁣<br/>⁣<br/>The Manapua was INCREDIBLE. The outside was perfectly crisp, sweet, and sticky; the bread was soft, tender, and fluffy; the filling was sweet, salty, and delicious. No complaints whatsoever. ⁣<br/>⁣<br/>White Sugar Cake: best I've ever had. Perfect texture, just sweet enough, awesome fermented flavour. ⁣<br/>⁣<br/>Sweetheart Cake: made with actual wintermelon, so good! Only thing is that the pastry could be a bit flakier. ⁣<br/>⁣<br/>Custard Bun: filling is great, but bun is a little dense and it was cold and not fluffy enough. ⁣<br/>⁣<br/>Overall, maybe the best Chinese bakery I have ever been to, by a long shot. ⁣<br/>⁣<br/>Manapua: 10/10 ⁣<br/>White Sugar Cake: 10/10 ⁣<br/>Sweetheart Cake: 8/10 ⁣<br/>Custard Bun: 6/10
Coconut
Pictured above is their version of peanut candy: macadamia nut candy rolled in shredded coconut. They also sell one rolled in white sesame seeds, which actually is more fragrant, eat that one instead. I didn't have the stomach room to try one of their super thick wife cakes (老婆餅) in exotic flavours.
Chronic Cravings
Aside from moon cakes, they had baked and steamed manapuas, cookies, and tons of dried fruits. We were there for the moon cakes but we left with manapuas, moon cakes, and a bag of coconut macadamia brittle. Scrumptious!
