Absolutely delicious tempura you must try! So crunchy, tasty, and satisfying. Prices are moderate but kamaaina get discount so take advantage if you one kamaaina and are paying the cost of living here by enjoying a delicious plate/bowl of tempura that will leave you wanting more!

Excellent tempura. There is usually a wait for seating but not a long wait. Service is good and the food always arrives quickly. The "regular bowl" is very popular. There is always some complimentary house pickled greens & ginger on the table that adds a nice touch. You can call or walk in for takeout. Of course the 15% kamaaina discount is helpful. The Yokocho has a $5 flat rate parking. Bathrooms are always clean and easily accessible. I often return to Kaneko Hannosuke for tempura and will go again soon. Recommend

From the style of service to the quality of ingredients, I felt as if I was back in Japan. Tempura was excellent. I had the regular don with miso soup! Tempura was crispy and not soggy, even with the sauce on it. Plus they definitely give enough rice! I love the veggie variety that they give and my egg was runny! Bonus *$5 draft beer* Definitely a hidden gem in Waikiki Yokocho that can sometimes be quickly bypassed for their ramen neighbors!

If you like tempura, this is a place to try. Whenever a restaurant is so focused that their kitchen only serves tempura, you know it’s good and worth trying.
Try their regular tempura set menu, you will get miso soup and a bowl of rice along with the tempura.
