Review Tim Ho Wan - Honolulu

Absolutely delicious! Opens at 11am. Get there then. Real Dim Sum! Theres not pages of items but anything you'll need for the experience. Bathroom at the restaurant and in the building. Restaurant has views of the boulevard on one side. Eat indoors or out on the covered balcony. The staff was very good. Very pleasant experience. We ate until we were full. Get the noodles, steamed ribs with rice, etc.

I was looking for a quick and affordable snack until dinner and that is not easy to find in Waikiki. I gave this dim sum place a try and I couldn’t have been happier. It was between meals so the place was dead. Very clean and everybody was nice. They took my order quickly and within five minutes my food started to arrive. Everything was served hot and fresh. Taste was very good, the dim sum was a little on the small side and none of the tables had chili oil, otherwise I would have given the food a 5. I was very satisfied with my experience and will probably be back for more.

What’s not to love about this place. Super fast and efficient service and great dim sum. We ordered a bunch of plates and everything was delicious. The only thing I didn’t care for was the char siu bao. The outside of the bao was too sweet for my taste but the rest we ordered was on par with some of the best dim sum I had. It’s probably sight more expensive than restaurants outside of Waikiki but that’s the price you pay for eating in a prime location.

I LIVE for dim sum. And this was delectable! We had the panfried noodles with pork, the steamed rice roll, and the INCREDIBLE baked bbq pork buns. So so good!

We were a walk in at 12:30pm and were able to get a table and seated immediately. They are known for their baos and after trying it I can say that it’s worth the experience. Certainly their bbq pork is on point and that’s what makes it good because we also tried the rice noodle with bbq pork and that wa great. Service is fairly fast and friendly. Would come in again for a quick dim sum bite.

Superb dim sum. Love the veg options (typically hard to find). BBQ pork bun and pan fried rice roll with XO sauce were my favorites. Fast, attentive service. Definitely returning! Validated parking.

If you didn’t know, Tim Ho Wan has a Michelin star in Hong Kong. We’re spared the trouble to wait in line for hours like people do in Hong Kong. The service is quick and courteous. I usually order the shrimp dumplings, shrimp dumplings, turnip cake, spicy wonton, shrimp Look Fun. I would hold to order the snow charshiu buns at the end which I enjoy as dessert. Excellent place for dim sum.

We didn't notice this place until our last night in Waikiki. The sign was up in the air and my wife commented about the "specialists" in the tagline. After a quick Google search, I was determined to come here before we flew back to Toronto. The restaurant was pretty easy to find. There were no seats inside when we arrived, but it wasn't too hot so we were okay to sit outside. Ordering is straightforward. Just like most dim sum places. You have a sheet and you mark the number of each dim sum that you want. We ordered a good amount of dishes and they started to arrive after 10 minutes or so. The taste of the dim sum is similar to the ones in Toronto. The portions are a little smaller. However, that is likely because we're in Hawaii and it is much harder to fly authentic ingredients here than it is elsewhere (like Toronto). I really wanted to come here to sample the dim sum (as we usually eat dim sum wherever we travel) and it is pretty good. If you're from a huge metropolitan area, you may be disappointed. However, if you're coming from a small town where the ethnic Chinese cuisine features chicken balls and sweet and sour sauce, this place is pretty much on par with traditional dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong. Would visit again the next time we're in Honolulu.

A popular dim sum place in the Waikiki area that is based on the Michelin star restaurant in other parts of the world. The dim sum is a bit pricey but the dim sum is delicious nonetheless give it a try and see how you like it. The wait was a bit long to get in but the food was definitely worth it in the end. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the milk tea but it was one of the best milk teas that we've had in Oahu.

I finally visited as this was one of the places I have been wanting to try for dim sum. It’s usually pretty busy but when I visited the wait was very short for one person. Their menu was smaller than I expected but still decent with variety of types of food. I tried their steamed rice roll with pork as well as their spicy dumplings. Food was prepared fresh and it came up pretty fast. Post dishes were pretty decent. Pork had a little smell to it but it was overall fine but I would like to try minced beef next visit. Pricing is decent for what you get. Service was mediocre but I would return again someday.

I have tried everything on the menu. The absolute best dim sum here is the Baked pork buns, it’s to die for. Siu Mai (excellent) Pork Dumplings (great) Pan fried char siu noodles (good) short ribs (good) cucumber (good) spring rolls (great) beef balls (good) bean curd (good) turnip cake (good) steamed garlic shrimp (ok). chicken rice (good) lava dessert (excellent) tapioca dessert (great)

Finally stopped in for a quick bite and no line, although nice crowd. Quick, painless, friendly service. Growing up in Hawaii, you got the melting pot of ethnic foods, especially, Chinese, and we all have our neighborhood favorites. Being a Michelin winner, you just have to try it, right? I really liked the staff and service. The food was really good and you try to taste that secret ingredient that makes it what it is. I admit, it all tasted great, especially the eggplant, which was different. Preparation seemed fresh which was probably the differentiator. No dim sum cart here. It wasn't overwhelming, but not commonplace either. Very tasty, very "fresh". Give it a try. I'll be back to try more of a very simple, but diverse menu. 🤙✌️

Absolutely delicious food in the beautiful Royal Hawaiian Center shopping center. I love Chang fen and the shrimp here was fresh, the spicy dumplings were also perfectly seasoned. the milk tea was also super legit, just the right amount of sugar and milk - with a nice grass jelly. I have not been to the one in NY but imagine this one has a shorter line.
