Review Teishoku Restaurant - Honolulu

Michael Parra
Absolutely amazing!!! The sushi was delicious and fresh. The employees there were also very friendly. In addition, the dining area was very clean and authentic. The prices were also very good for what the food was worth, and there were SO MANY food options on the menu. Sadly, my family is only here on vacation. Though, if we lived here, I would definitely come again.

I have been coming here for years, but I'm not sure why I haven't done a review, so here goes. Food is very good and portions are decent. Combination plates at either lunch or dinner to me are the best value. I like that there are kids' menu options that provide smaller portions. There is a senior citizens discount of 10% on Tuesdays. Their butterfish is very tasty as the reputation for this dish is true. I'd suggest trying these combination meal favorites also; fried oysters, chicken karaage, chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, tonkatsu, tempura and spicy ahi. Skip the beef teriyaki as it is shaved beef slices. Combination meals come with pickle appetizers and miso soup as well. Sushi rolls are good, and my kids love the udon. It has limited seating, so call for reservations ahead of time, especially during holidays. Parking can be limited in the shared shopping plaza, but there is a little further 2nd story parking that has more spots. There is a small bathroom in the back as well. The staff was fairly attentive, but you may have to get their attention when it gets busy. This is a double $$ meal, but given the food quality, quantity, and overall value, I think it is great. We have been coming for years, and so long as things stay consistent, we will continue to come back.

Teishoku! I would definitely say a budget friendly Japanese spot if you're craving it! Easy parking in Kam shopping center literally right next to Times Supermarket. Off North School St. TIP: CALL AND MAKE A RESERVATION - it does get packed. Friendly service considering how busy it gets during dinner. Food was good but I would say their claim of having the best misoyaki butterfish in Honolulu didn't pass in my book. It was a bit dry and not a buttery as other spots I've been too. Overall solid average portions for the price you pay. Don't sleep on this hidden gem in Kalihi. Clean small ambiance but enough to hold a decent side party especially in the back portion.

I came here like 5 times already. Food is 🔥 so good. I will keep coming because I love so much the combos. Butterfish is great, tonkatsu all good and rice so good. Only think I think they should address is the fish odor in the location. Is strong. Once you sit for several minutes you forget about but you can feel it when you get here and lower the impression.

We loved the bentos we had at this restaurant! We ordered Bento with Tonkatsu and Hamachi sashimi. Both were super delicious, the Hamachi was so fresh, just melted in our mouths! Service was excellent, the "ambiance" was, well, a local place in the strip mall style, but nonetheless we'll be back! Thank you.

Great Japanese food, excellent service, reasonably priced, and easy parking. We arrived without a reservation and had about a twenty minute wait. Had to try the combo bento butter fish and shrimp tempura…was not disappointed. Definitely worth a try.

Great place to have a nice meal at an afforable price. Many options with with combination sets and ala carte selections. Best to make a reservation as they fill up quickly once they open. You may also order take out if you aren't able to wait.

My first time here and I love it! Came on a Sunday at about 4:30p, no wait! We ordered a tempura roll delicious. Three teishoku combo meals: butterfish and teriyaki beef, chicken karaage and shrimp katsu, and a chicken katsu and vegetable tempura. For the teishoku you can choose from white rice, sushi rice or brown rice. They also come with miso soup, “appetizer” and salad. Everything was delicious! Complimentary hot tea, although we had to ask again…at the end of our meal. The server appeared to be in a hurry whenever we’d ask for things. We also asked for our bill to be split and it wasn’t split correctly but we didn’t ask to change it. Overall the food was really good and no wait at the time we went!

“5” in all categories! My sister and I both had the combination: We both chose the butterfish miyosaki and the shrimp/veg tempura. And we were both happy with our meal. The flavors, the presentation of the food, the cleanliness, customer service, and the decor all made our experience very pleasant. We’ll be back and highly recommend!

Sometimes lunch wait can be long. The combination plate is the best value with the 2 choices. Butter fish is my favorite choice.

Just got off the plane and wanted some real food before heading to the North Shore and we were lucky to find this place along the way. The service was friendly and food was very good. Especially liked the Butterfish and Tempura. Conveniently located in a plaza with a grocery store next door to stock up at!

One of my favorite place to have Japanese good. The combination meal and bento boxes selection are the best. The portion is generous and staff is friendly. My favorite is the Unagi and sashimi combo. The butter fish and ahi poke. We will definitely come back for more.

Excellent food, price, selection/variety, and portions. Very good service and courteous staff. Restaurant is clean with a simple decor. It's a smaller restaurant, so expect a wait during prime hours. Food consistency is almost perfect - I did have one dish that was noticeably saltier and sour - but, no restaurant is perfect, so Teishoku is still a winner. Misoyaki butterfish and salmon sashimi are excellent.... I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

We keep coming back here for lunch or dinner and we love and enjoyed their food everytime! This time we had, Spicy ahi roll, kalbi and chicken katsu combination plate and kalbi and salmon combination plate. Both are yummy and very good!!!!!They have authentic and tasty food. With unlimited hot tea, and warm miso soup included with your food, we will keep coming back. Service is fast, workers are friendly! A MUST TRY when in Honolulu!

Second day in a row, it was so good. Their sashimi and sushi is super fresh. Tempura was also very good. This evening I had the butterfish. A local Hawaiian favorite. It was delicious, also very fresh too. Highly recommend! Plus they issue you a rewards card. Every 10.00 gets one stamp towards rewards.

Food was good, but not cheap. Service was good. My butterfish set dinner was not too appealing. But the fish was good. It was inside a busy strip mall.

The chicken katsu curry was good. Ramen was also good. I had to wait about 30 minutes, but the food was brought out in about 10 minutes after ordering.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was great, not overpriced, and the food was great. We had the combination meal with ahi tuna and butterfish. I would definitely go back for the butterfish, it was so flavourful and perfectly cooked. We also ordered the chicken katsu curry udon. I really enjoyed how well they seasoned the chicken and it was nice and crispy. The udon was slightly overcooked but overall still pretty good.
