Review Asuka Nabe + Shabu Shabu - Honolulu

Hot Pot! My friends took me here for the first time and really enjoyed it. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Lots of broth options for you to choose from for your hot pot. I really enjoyed the garlic spicy broth. Find parking on the main road (Waialae Ave) Or on a side street

Super great hotpot near Waikiki. Individual hotpot was great with many different soup bases to choose from. I liked how all of the sets came with a bunch of the key basics needed on the side for hotpot. We had the duck, shrimp, pork, and kalbi and all was delicious. Definitely recommend if you are in the area or are in the mood for some great hotpot.

Very good shabu. The meat sets are a good size. 2 sets was enough to fill us up. We had the park set and a beef set. Comes with veggies rice and udon noodles. The house soup is very tasty.

This place is so great! My mom loves shabu shabu so we came here for her 84th birthday while visiting Oahu. We got three sets (two ribeye and one pork belly) for three adults and three kids. Both were great but the ribeye was the group’s favorite. The sets came with tofu, vegetables, and a dumpling, which was so flavorful. We accompanied the sets with the asuka base and two spicy asuka bases. Both had wonderful, complex flavors. We also got some extra sides to put in the soups. Definitely get shiitake mushrooms if you are a mushroom fan and try the fun kimchi bombs if you like kimchi. The bomb is mochi filled with kimchi and a Korean duk (rice cake). In addition to the great food, the service was just as wonderful. All the staff were super friendly, helpful, and warm. Get out of Waikiki and head a little north to Asuka. You won’t be disappointed.

Hands down the best hot pot place that I've tried. Service was also impeccable. Every worker constantly checked on us with ultimate positive vibes. Our waitress was friendly and super helpful. Truly the epitome of good service here! I had the kalbi and ribeye combo with tan tan broth and musubi. Delicious! To be honest, other hot pot places I've tried were all disappointing. If this place didn't work out, I probably would have given up on hot pot lol. Thank you so much Asuka for a wonderful experience!

We came without a reservation on Sunday night around 7:15pm and was told we probably had to wait until 8pm. The server was very nice and attentive, around 7:35pm he came to find us outside, and was able to seat us. So glad we waited! Food was worth it 🥰 We ordered 2 x Galbi + Ribeye Shabu Shabu Set. Meats were so tender, decently portioned. Would recommend this choice of meat. For soup base we picked the · Asuka classic: very delicious!! Creamy miso with hint of sake. The veggies tasted extra good in the broth. Comes with butter and pepper on the side. I preferred the broth without butter and pepper at first, but then adding both to the broth and eating the broth over rice was tasty 🤤 · Spicy Osaka Sukiyaki: this one was my favourite with the meats, tofu and udon! Perfectly sweet and salty with a kick of slight spicy from chili. Overall we had a great dinner experience here. Delicious food and kind service. Would come back and recommend it to others 😊

Great shabu shabu. BYOB. Meat quality if good. Special soup base is worthy trying. Also have the kombu soup base. Comes with rice, udon and basic vegetable. Can order more as needed.

First dinner at Honolulu! The service and food are very very good! Tips: if a set is not enough for you then order another set instead of individual item, the set’s value is the best. We ordered a lot of single items and the bill is $$$$….

Food was amazing, but service was extremely questionable, and made my experience there much worse. 1) server felt like he did not want to even be there. Had this unhappy vibe the entire time, and was annoyed when we asked questions 2) everyone at the table interpreted that each soup bowl was $8, b it we were surprised to find an extra $8 charge for doing a split bowl, which I had explicitly asked about price before ordering 3) we had a the wrong order of meat come to the table. We asked the server about the plate, and he’s like you ordered this and this. We were like yes, those two are correct, but I don’t believe we ordered this other plate. He looked at it and without a word, or apology, took the plate away Would not come back for these reasons. Just didn’t feel welcomed

At Asuka Nabe & Shabu Shabu, you can get a healthy, fulfilling meal for two for under $25. The hubby and I went here for dinner the other night and shared the Asuka Nabe ($21.95). It comes with everything you see below. We also added a side order of Okinawa noodles for $2.95. If I were to compare Asuka Nabe with my favorite nabe restaurant Ichiriki, I'd say that I like the broth better at Ichiriki, but value-wise, I got more bang for my buck at Asuka Nabe.

While on vacation for the summer in Hawaii, I decided to try Asuka and I must say that I was in heaven. The food is delicious and service is great. My favorite "base" is the Osaka Sukiyaki. I highly recommend this place. A little pricy but well worth it.
