I remember the first time we had a hula dog many moons ago. Complete genius to heat the bun on the inside and then to stuff it with great sauces.
We revisited this past April and got the original polish dog in a taro bun with papaya relish and Hawaiian mustard and paired out of with a tropical mix lemonade.
By far the best ever!!! Most tastiest here and that both of us enjoyed we got seconds. This dog is out of this world with the flavors. Both of these are GOOD. Taro bread, polish sausage, pineapple relish and jalapeño garlic sauce the other one was Taro bread , polish sausage, habanero garlic sauce and coconut relish. The best. I will come here tomorrow for more . The aloha herbal tea was great and the pineapple lemonade with fresh pineapple was awesome.
Awesome food! For the price of small “meh” sandwich from ABC stores, you could get a whole sausage in big “bread” combined with great sauce and mustard (with Hawaiian flavor of course). Nice atmosphere of street food and food trucks. Loved eating outside and this place.
My husband insisted on coming here after watching it on Anthony Bourdan’s “No Reservations” and it was totally worth it! A unique twist on eating a hot dog with fruit-based relish and various mustard options. Absolutely delicious! Picnic tables are shared by other food trucks within the vicinity. No parking on site. If you go here during popular eating times (noon, 6 pm, etc.) you can expect a wait. All good made to order.
Excellent upscaled hot dogs that you can customize or you can enjoy the signature poi dog with taro bread, jalapeno garlic sauce, pineapple relish, and Hawaiian mustard. Also enjoyed washing it all down with a tasty blueberry lemonade.
The pigeons are a little pushy in the seating area, but it's a chill vibe beyond that.
Just some benches on the side of the road serving this dog. Polish sausage inside a mini purple loaf of taro bread with flavorful condiments. Worth trying for the fun of it. Pretty tasty too with a bit of salty, sweet and spicy. Service was ok. He looked bored.
My boyfriend and I ordered a signature poi dog and a mango lemonade.
We never thought we’d go to Hawaii to eat glizzies, but we heard lots of good things about this place. We loved the taro bread and the generous amount of condiments. It was a little spicy due to the jalapeño garlic lemon sauce, but really good! The portion was large and they lemonade was refreshing.
I was told this beautiful little spot was closing down, but I had to leave a review anyway. On our first night in Waikiki we swung by because my daughter wanted a hot dog and the food trucks were close to the hotel. I chatted with the owner for a bit and decided to try one of these incredibly unique hot dogs, specifically the one Anthony Bordain ate. It blew my mind. Had it not completely filled me up (I'm 250 pounds and one hot dog is a snack normally) I'd have ordered more until I couldn't eat anything else. The owner was beyond nice and made me feel at home. I returned for lunch the next day despite wanting to try other local spots, it just called to me. I hope that this review finds the phenomenal owner and he knows that the efforts of that little food truck became one of my fondest memories of my time in Hawaii and instantly set the stage for how warm, welcoming and incredible the people of Hawaii are. I'm glad I bought a shirt to help me remember not only the great food, but the wonderful people. For me, food is the greatest way to share culture and by way of an incredibly unique puka dog, you shared with me not only a wonderful meal, but the incredibly warm heart at the core of Hawaii.
My friends and I passed by here walking back to our hotel. I didn't think much of it but my friend wanted to get something so I decided to get some too. I customized my own hula dog and we took it back to the hotel. I got a dog in taro bread with pineapple relish and hawaiian mustard. I was blown away at how good it tasted! The sweetness from mustard and relish contrasted so nicely to the savory sausage flavor! The sausage itself had an excellent snap to it too! I couldn't believe that I was so close to not ordering something! If you pass by here while in Waikiki, please get a hula dog!
Fast friendly service. We got the taro buns with pineapple relish. The bread was soft and warm and the sweet, tangy pineapple relish perfectly complemented the savory hot dog. I felt very satisfied with just one hot dog. There are some picnic tables at the food truck park but only 7 or so.
I got a hotdog on sweet bread with pineapple and Hawaiian mustard, plus a lemonade. I think the cashier misunderstood my order because I asked for a purple one but it came out blue. It was still really good. The hotdog bun is a LOT of bread and by the end the condiments were oozing out of the bottom.
The cashier took a few minutes to come out from the back when I walked up, which is fine. But immediately he started this weird conversation about how he values all human life above animal life and "if I had a kid" I'd sacrifice all birds on earth for them (?). So that was interesting.
The seating is just picnic tables but they could use some umbrellas because the afternoon sun is very hot.
Delicious and plenty of ways to dress your hot dog or polish sausage which I recommend for a little more spice. The buns are soft and fresh but a little too big in my opinion.
Food truck in a food truck court near Wikiki beach. Hawaiian Hit Dog was delicious. Mango Lemonade was so good.
I was severely impressed with the dog here, I got a BYO dog with Hawaiian bread, polish dog, lemon garlic sauce, Hawaiian mustard and ketchup and after a series of unfortunate events I genuinely think this is the best food I've had all week, not just in Hanalulu but in Kona as well as Austin. I took a single bite leaving the establishment and before I had even crossed the second intersection I had devoured the whole thing. I will be telling my family about this place and hope them a happy many years.
Delicious pig-in-a-blanket style hotdog with a variety of unique toppings. We got the polish sausage with original (mild) roasted garlic lemon sauce, pineapple relish, and Hawaiian mustard, was fantastic. Also got the mango lemonade, equally delicious. Highly recommend.
I’ve been to Oahu twice and this is BY FAR my favorite place to eat on the island. Located a few block from Waikiki beach it’s a must visit! The taro bread is AMAZING and the pineapple and coconut relishes are 🤩 10/10. I brought my boyfriend here the second time I came to the island and he thought I was crazy for getting purple bread. Once he tried mine we probably ate here 6 times during our trip it’s THAT GOOD. I even came by here to get some hotdogs right before going to the airport. Don’t be basic if you eat here try the taro bread and try the tropical relishes! You won’t be disappointed! I promise!!
I had a friend RAVE about Hula Dogs. What I will say is that it's a cool experience, and would definitely go once. There was a heck of a lot of bun:hot dog ratio, but they're super yummy.
The lilikoi lemonade is a great add to your meal. Would also rec grabbing the ube bun!
Great customer service and great food. I was a little nervous but the hula dog was delicious!
Hula dogs are absolutely delicious and exceeded all our expectations! Unlike any hotdog we've ever had in the best way. All the different breads and relishes are delicious and so are the lemonades. (They accommodated just a plain hotdog for the kids too.) There is limited seating (about 5 picnic tables nearby) so just be prepared to take away if busy. Definitely worth a visit!
