Great sushi. Service was not the best. No willingness to substitute made my experience less than the best it could have been.

We did not make a reservation and all The tables were taken. We left and went to our car and the owner came out and said if you like we can accommodate you in the back room but you need to sit on cushions at the low table. We accepted and had the best experience. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

Fantastic. Easily among the top few places I've been to for sushi. The service was great too: friendly, helpful, attentive wait staff. They were even patient when we had a bit of a language barrier! We went our first night in town, and liked it so much we took some friends a couple days later. They got noodle soup dishes, which also sounded fabulous.

Traditional sushi and soooo delicious! The rice is perfect, and all of the fish is beyond delicious. We definitely recommend the scallop butteryaki. The staff is all so kind and service is very timely. It's a small restaurant, so it's great for small personal parties or date-nights! Add this to your must visit when in the area!

Hidden little gem with everything so fresh and well prepared with nice presentation. Beer was really nice and cold. Staff provided great service as well.

We didn't make a Reservation (highly recommended) but were seated rather quickly. We were seated in the traditional dining area which was amazing! The Scallop Butteryaki is definitely recommended. Had the Soft shelled Crab roll, Spicy tuna and Salmon rolls. All of it was absolutely delicious! For the price you definitely get what you pay for and then some.

One of my favorite sushi spots on island. The atmosphere, food and service has always been consistent. They even have a section for you to take your shoes off and sit down, as if you were in Asia.

dont let the price rating scare you, i spent 50$ for myself and left fat and happy which is hard to do at any sushi place now a days. had assorted sushi and a tall beer. this place has the kind of sushi that flops and hangs over the small ball of rice. its high quality fish and super nice staff. you really can't go wrong here

Really liked the sushi in there! Felt like being in Japan! Highly recommend the o-Toro 🍣 Very high quality! And the matcha green tea ice cream at the end was the cherry on top of the cake! Also free edamame as starter 😋 Would definitely go back! Amazing for dates! 🌹 Menu had names both in Japanese and in English, so another reason to go if you're studying the language 🤓

Very good food! Reminded me of small Japanese restaurants I used to eat at. All the nigiri was fresh and melt in your mouth delicious! Staff are also very friendly and had great atmosphere overall.

Best butterfish I've had so far! Small but very nicely decorated and very friendly staff. I'd recommend sitting at the bar to watch the magic happen. Everything comes out quick and fresh and is absolutely delicious! And presentation of everything you order is the little extra step that's really sets this place apart. Definitely a true hidden gem of Honolulu

One of the best Sushi that I ever ate! If you are in Hawaii 🌺 you must come & eat here! from Spicy Tuna to Salmon Avocado, from Unagi Avocado to Spider roll I can not say enough about this place. Thank you Chef

Authentic Japanese cuisine. Traditional restaurant menu similar to what is served in Japan. A few items, such as teriyaki ahi, is locally unique. Main menu includes sushi, udon, (noodles) donburi (rice bowls) and teishoku (set meals). Prices are reasonable. The tempura is excellent, lightly battered and not oily. The taste of deep fried items such as shrimp and vegetables is noticeable. The teriyaki ahi was tasty but the sauce was bit "koi" or strong and salty. Parking available next to restaurant. May become limited if nearby bar is reopened. Additional street parking available nearby. Lunch was uncrowded possibly due to reopening for fully vaccinated individuals. Vaccination card and ID required for entry. Would definitely visit again to try other menu items.

Good but not incredible sushi. Prices are reasonable. The Butterfish was delicious and comparable to the miso cod at Nobu. Manager guy wasn't the most friendly but the wait staff was great!

Amazing meal here at Akasaka. The fish was super fresh and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Ordered the Miso Black Cod also known as butterfish in Hawaii. Otoro(fatty bluefin tuna) ala carte. Chawanmushi. Chutoro. Chirashi Don. All spectacular dishes and quality is really up there. If you are craving sushi and sashimi this is the place to stop by in Oahu. Do yourself a favor and support this family owned restaurant.

Recommended. Love the butterfish which is excellent cooked. A bit pricey, we ordered these 3 plates as shown in photos, totaled to 130 including tax and tips. High quality food.
