Review Sweet Home Cafe - Honolulu

The food was good and so was the quality. Me and my boyfriend and cousin came in just before their" all you can eat "stop (4-6pm). Its worth the money and even though you can't include lobster or scallop and other seafood on your menu, their variety are endless. You should definitely give them a try !

Five stars for food, service, and value. One star for parking. Small lot shared by a few small businesses. If you're in a rush...the parking will drive you crazy. But if you have the time...the wait will be well worth it. The miso butter soup was great. We've had a few others on previous visits. The selection of add ons is great too. My wife and I are pescatarians...and finding enough add ons is never a problem. And the shaved ice that comes with the meal is the perfect ending to a great meal. I highly recommend this place.

The dining room is very very very very tiny. Probably 10-11 four-people tables at most. With four fridges in the back storing cold stuff for grabs. If you show up at regular dinner time, like around 6-7ish, there's most likely will be a wait. Once you're seated, you'll be able to order the broth and meat with the server and the rest you can get from the fridge. There's lots of varieties for the cold items, fish cake, all kinds of veggies, meat balls, pork hash and such. Each plate is color coded. In the end they'll count the plates and figure out how much to charge you. Kinda like a sushi spinary place. Food wise, it's not bad yet not extremely great. Meat portions are kind of small. But they do give you free dessert in the end. That was nice. And it's yummy, too! I would still choose Mongolian over Sweet Home only because the option to do all you can eat. It's just a better deal overall.

LOVE!!!! If you're dining with a group that's comfortable sharing a pot this is a great experience. We had two pots for a party of six and everyone was full by the end. The staff was super friendly!! It was very affordable even though we all got drinks. (Approx $17/person) Would go again in a heartbeat.

I love the amount and variety of food they had to offer. Their specialty sauces were very good and there were 10+ I think. Finally, their service was great and they were all very friendly.

Great place if you don't mind cooking your own food. How much you spend is up to you, little or a lot of money depending on how much add ons or plates of ingredients of vegetables, meat etc. Atmosphere is great since your partly in control by whom you bring

This popular and delicious hot pot restaurant will get you better acquainted with both the people you're eating with and the strangers that you are sitting two inches from and maybe backing your chair into. Stop by here for well-done, authentic hot pot served with a yummy, mandatory dessert. Do not come here for anything fancy. SHC stands out compared to the other hot pot offerings in Honolulu in terms of price and menu choices; it is on-par with most others in terms of food quality. The price here is good, but becomes great if you come between 4 and 6 during happy hour. Plates of vegetables, mushrooms, and seafood are $3-$5 -- you should expect to purchase about 5 plates per person. SHC offers 10+ interesting and creative broth options, more than other hot pot restaurants I have visited. The food at SHC is largely fresh and high-quality, this being said 1 of the plates I had tasted like it had been in the freezer too long. I am not subtracting a star for this because the overall quality was good and the restaurant is not expensive. There is an adjacent parking lot that fills up quickly -- do not park in front of the dumpsters or in spots labeled reserved (a car towed at this shopping center during my visit).

Delicious hotpot and shaved ice. Happy hour is quite short. Price is alright.

The last time I was here 7 years ago, they did not have the AYCE. They do now and I ate for 10 people! :D

It's a hot pot place so be prepared to eat of course. We went with the all you can eat option which has a huge selection of items to add for free, however, the raw meats are sold as add ons. The all you can eat meal is timed, and while 90 minutes sounds long, it still felt a bit rushed. You get a 30 minute warning at which point they put a huge bowl of Taiwanese style shaved ice on the table. The desert was pretty good, but we weren't finished with our hot pot yet so it was kind of awkward. We definitely left full, but we've had better hot pots elsewhere for cheaper.

Wow, good stuff. We came for the Happy Hour Special, from 4 to 6pm, all you can eat plates for $17.95 per person including dessert. Beef, Pork and Chicken plates are $3 extra each and Seafood plates are regular priced. Selection of included plates was great.. Vegetables, Tofu Noodles, Fish cakes more than enough to fill anyone. 90 minute time limit, after 60 minutes they serve you dessert. Homemade soup and sauces are fabulous. Coming again. 😃

Their shaved ice is the best shaved ice that I have ever had and I still think about it til this day. The best part of the shaved ice is that it is free with your meal!!! It has just the right amount of toppings, sweetness and ice. I really loved the coffee flan and the almond pudding topping they had in the shaved ice. The dessert was so good that I had to go one more time before I leave Hawaii. The hotpot is just average but I liked their dipping sauce station. It had a lot of different variety to choose for you create your dipping sauce.

I love this place!!! Even though its under new ownership...It's still tasty, affordable and I can't forget to mention its BYOB!!! My friends and I went during happy hour a few nights ago. We had a party of 6 at 5pm and only waited 15 minutes to get a table. The plates of meat are regularly priced at $5 a plate, while the happy hour prices are $3...score! My fiance and I shared a spicy broth pot, ordered 4 meat plates, added a few vegetables and we were stuffed. On top of that we were given their famous dessert with shaved ice, custard and boba to share between the 6 of us. Our bill before tip was only $36. I can't wait to go back here again and again and again.

This is my favorite place to eat and it’s the best. Great deal on the hot pot, everything is because you only have 1 1/2 hour to eat and afterwards you get shave ice after your meal. There is a lot of options to choose and there is many options to choose from for your pot and options of soup base. There is also sauces to choose from as well. Just read the menu and you’ll see what deal you want to choose from. Totally recommend, very popular. The wait is not too long ether.

Awesome food selection from vegetables, seafood, to meats- everything was tasty! Beware to not put too much food into the hot pot because the food was filling with everything in there! For the AYCE option, you will be charged extra if there is too much food leftover & be mindful of the 90 minute time limit too! The complimentary shave ice at the end was yummy! My belly was oh so full when we left 😋

One of the best hot pot restaurants in Honolulu. This place offers a Taiwanese flair on hot pot and it's absolutely delicious. The house broth is really nice and the summer garlic broth is excellent. Great selection of meats, dumplings, and vegetables along with a dozen or more sauces to complement. What's more, you get a large complimentary bowl of shave ice topped with boba, fruit and coffee jellies, and sweetened condensed milk, and it's wonderful. This location also has an all-you-can-eat option, which I recommend.

If one is craving for hotpot in this area, I'd highly recommend the Sweet Home Cafe. They offer a very wide selection of options. The sauces are great. The service is very friendly too. The post-hotpot shaved ice is quite a hit for us, super yum and free. We went there multiple times while staying on the island. A line can start as early as 6-6:30pm, so get there early to avoid lines.

A hidden gem tucked away off Kuhio St. We had the House Special and Lemongrass broth with beef and lamb - all very yummy. The veggies we had as sides were very fresh. First time we had a hot pot. It was simply outstanding and great value for the money. Highly recommended!
