Review Sushi Ii - Honolulu

Absolutely happy to have come across this restaurant! Finally having the most satisfying sushi that makes us flashback to our trip to Japan. Every piece we ate was delicious - not one thing was lacking. Somehow with only 2 chefs and 1 server, our food was prompt as kept coming. If we are veer ever back on the island we will revisit. Thank you thank you!

First try this Old style Japanese Sushi restaurant. Very much Japanese traditional style preparation. We tried the special Omakase sushi. Price is high but very fresh!!

I was looking for an omakase sushi place and this was the only place that was open till later in the night and I am glad I visited this restaurant. I had to call them to make a reservation because they don't do online reservation. When I arrived, I was seated right away at the bar. They have 2 different options for Omakase- 1. Nigiri omakase 2. Sashimi omakase. I picked the nigiri omakase. This omakase was different than the ones I've been to in the past. For this Omakase, there is no set menu. You basically pick between the 2 options, and you keep getting served until you are full. So basically you have to tell them when you are done and then they charge you for whatever you ate. Two other things to note here are that - 1. You can tell your server to kindly include any particular nigiri options that you want as part of your omakase experience. 2. This omakase includes some exotic Japanese fish. The cost of each nigiri is based on the market price, and it is usually around $7/piece. I got to try following nigiri as part of my omakase experience - 1. Seasonal fish × 5 2. Shima aji 3. Hirame 4. Ika 5. Mirugai 6. Hoy scallop mayo 7. Kani 8. Uni 9. Ikura 10. Unagi 11. Kinmedai 12. Mutsu 13. Anago 14. Crab Every nigiri that I tried was fresh, tender, flavorful, and had a clean taste. Some of the nigiri were seared and some were slightly salted, and they didn't require any ponzu sauce. Some of their nigri had more wasabi than what I usually like, but it was still really good. Each nigiri came with a generous cut of the fish. Even the ginger on the side was very flavorful, with a good balance of sweet and slightly tangy flavors. My favorites were uni, unagi, eel, hirame, and scallop mayo. I would definitely come back next time I visit Honolulu.

Great food! The service seemed a bit rushed sometimes, they asked us several times very quickly if we had decided on our order. But the food quality more than made up for it.

Top-notch dining, and a sushi chef with a hearty laugh. I love this place. It’s everything you hope it will be. It’s unassuming, and initially feels like a hole in the wall, but as soon as you open the menu, you become aware that this is a serious restaurant. By serious, I mean that all the menu items (including the sake selection) are carefully considered and individually selected. I ordered 5 different fish, two small plates, lamb lollipops, and a bottle of sake. Every item was better than I hoped it would be. The staff is friendly competent, friendly, and well-versed in their craft. They explained the nuances of different fish flavors/textures in a ways that was easily digestible. Oh, and the sushi chef who served my sushi was warm, kind, and had a bolstering laugh. It was the kind of laugh that starts deep down in the gut and is a contagion to those in near proximity. They’re open 7 days a week. Go today.

Tried their Nigiri Omakase and it did not disappoint. Dishes were so fresh and practically melted in my mouth on each bite. My personal favorites were the Santa Barbara Uni, Langastino Baby Lobsters from New Zealand, Hokkaido Scallop, Annago Salt Water Eel and the Foie Gras.

First time coming here but will definitely be back! The atmosphere really does make you feel like you're in Japan. They have traditional style, Japanese sushi as well as some American fusion that are both very good. They have a very good selection of sake as well as some beer and shochu.

So glad I found this spot! It is very authentic sushi. Real wasabi was a treat you don’t find outside of Japan very often. Highly recommend

We had a large group of around 10 people but they were still able to seat us with a reservation ahead of time. We were pretty rowdy but the waiters and servers were still patient with us. The sushi was delicious and so yummy. We even got light rice for each one. We had so many types and I really loved them all especially the ikura and Fatty tunas. The foie gras was so fatty and tummy too. I'd definitely be down to return for omakase.

A great hole in the wall restaurant in Honolulu, serving high quality Japanese food. They serve fresh sashimis as well as cooked food like this mouth-watering stewed beef tongue over mashed potatoes (highly recommended). Reservations recommended for dinner. Also they validate parking.
