Friendly, efficient check-out counter staff. They move customers in and out of their facility in record-breaking, timely manner. And, all the customer needs to do is have their check-list of items handy, move to those known product pick-up spots, and zoom along from one location to another. And, before you know it, you're out the door and on your way. And, even on those very busy days, with a little bit of patience (and luck), that illusive, coveted, prime parking spot (and all you need is one slot) usually becomes available. At least, that's my experience.
My Time-Tested Costco Wholesale "Parking Lot Sweep"
My strategy for securing fast parking. Sorry (I played high school football). It's football season. I couldn't resist. So, ready? Here goes. Is your helmet secure, shoulders pads firmly tied down and mouth piece in place? Ready, set, hut ... for the Costco Wholesale "Parking Lot Sweep." Now, first you've stayed away from Dillingham Boulevard. It's a mess out there with rail construction. Forget the Mauka (mountain-side) approach. Instead, charge Costco from Nimitiz Highway, right? Your BEST BET (I believe) is the Makai (ocean side) approach. Thank you for the wait.
My "Costco Wholesale Parking Lot Sweep" Images Are Now Posted. So, for me at least, my fully tested "true and tried" "Costco Parking Lot Sweep" always yields my strategic outcome. To date, I have always found my one needed spot on every parking foray. So similarly, to YOU my reader, may "the sweep" be with you!!!
NOW, I also have my carefully developed priorities list of "healthy foods and drinks". For me at least, they have those "body nourishing special foods and accompanying drinks." IF you look carefully for them. The fruits (on my list) include avacados, bananas, blueberries (fresh and frozen), raisins (and grapes), kiwifruits (chock full of vitamin C). (NOTE: PLEASE SEE my POB 1 post for more details). They have eggs, milk (2%), juices (orange and POG), whole wheat breads and green vegetables (like spinach, broccoli, and potatos). They have peanut butter and jams (strawberry is my favorite). And, their's is a wide selection of red wines. Mind you, this is my very personal list (after consultation with my doctors and nurses as well as internet and YouTube sources) of what I personally believe are the healthiest foods.
Oh yes. And, there is Kirkland 100 % Columbian dark roast coffee. I love the rich flavor. It remains my favorite.
And, I'm still getting acquainted with the variety of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (in dark glass bottles with .5 % maximum acidity) from the Mediterranean (Kirkland's Toscano P.G.I from Tuscany, Italy) and .3% maximum acidity Kirkland's California Cuyana Valley, Fall 2022 harvest. A CAUTIONARY NOTE: There are fraudulent, or diluted olive oils on the market. (Here, I'm still on my learning curve). I need patience. Please see my latest posts on these developments.
SO, PLEASE CAREFULLY read the labels (harvest in fall, harvest location (one locale?), production methods, expiration dates, maximimum acidity, .5%, .3% etc, if available). They should be on your olive oil containers, which should be bottled in dark glass. These are the current standards that I know.
To your health!!!

Best shopping on the island, prices are even lower than I've seen on the mainland, especially for meats, dairy, and groceries. Best place to buy mauna loa and other gifts as well. It's always stocked and plenty of helpful staff around, but man, this is the busiest Costco I've ever seen. I wish somehow they could open one on the windward side so not everyone comes to this one. There isn't a time of day it's not packed, and traffic and parking is nuts.

Associate by the cigarette counter was extremely nice and went out of his way to help me. My only complaint they did NOT have the brand CROWN MENTHOL in stock!! CEO needs to put a Costco on Windward side of island

Overall this Costco is good.
The omission of one star is for the employees who work at the return/refund department, I noticed there are some people who behave with a chip on their shoulders toward customers.
Convert that negative energy for something more productive.

Stocking up on goodies to take back to the mainland. Costco in Hawaii is so much better here. I always need extra luggage when I go back.

My recent visit to Costco, just days before Thanksgiving, was nothing short of a chaotic yet rewarding experience. The mad rush and bustling crowd were expected during this pre-holiday period, and despite the craziness, my family and I managed to snag some fantastic deals for our Thanksgiving feast.
The first hurdle was the parking lot, where it took us a good 10 to 15 minutes just to find a spot. The sheer volume of eager shoppers gearing up for the holiday created a chaotic atmosphere, but the anticipation of scoring great deals kept everyone in good spirits.
Once inside, the shopping frenzy continued. Families were darting between aisles, filling their carts with last-minute Thanksgiving essentials. Despite the chaos, the staff at Costco managed the situation well, ensuring the shelves were well-stocked and the checkout lines moved efficiently.
One pleasant surprise was the variety of Hawaii-related items we stumbled upon. From chocolates to chips and even poke, Costco had a delightful selection of Hawaiian treats. It added an unexpected twist to our Thanksgiving shopping and allowed us to incorporate some unique flavors into our holiday spread.
Despite the hustle and bustle, we managed to find everything we needed and more. The quality and quantity of the products we purchased were well worth the temporary chaos. The affordability of Costco's offerings, especially in bulk, made it a budget-friendly option for our Thanksgiving preparations.
Looking ahead, I've learned my lesson about the pre-holiday rush. Next time, I'll plan to visit when it's less busy to avoid the parking lot frenzy and long checkout lines. Nevertheless, our Thanksgiving shopping adventure at Costco was a success, leaving us with a cart full of goodies and a sense of accomplishment.

One of my favorite places to shop (if you know exactly what you need and don't need a clerk's help). I bought a Monty Python DVD set for 20 bucks and in 2018 a Lenovo gaming laptop for 950 dollars! I look forward to checking out their mainland U.S. stores one day :-)
One minor issue: I wish the Hawaii stores had more locally made products, not counting macadamia nuts and chocolate. The stores do have exclusive Hawaii cooler bags which are beautiful 🏖

This place is massive and super busy. Listed as the busiest in the USA. It is usually in stock with everything, and the lines do move fairly quickly. Of course, the hotdogs and pizza are a must.

Like pretty much every Costco, but with some local variables. Insanely crowded on a late Thursday morning.

Just visiting Honolulu today, but had to swing by Costco for a few things. This is probably one of the biggest Costco‘s. I think I’ve ever been in. That huge refrigerated fruit and vegetable area to go along with well-stocked shelves of alcohol. I would say this Costco has pretty much every grocery item one person could need.
I’m from California and I would say that the prices at this Costco are pretty comparable to what we pay at our local Costco‘s.
Store was very busy however most of the registers were manned, so it was minimal time to get checked out. If I lived in Honolulu, this would definitely be my Costco.
