Review Surf Lanai - Honolulu

Loved the pink pancakes. I ordered pink pancakes, bacon, and an egg as a light breakfast for two before we began activities. The service was great. Our table gave a great view and a nice breeze. We didn’t feel rushed after finishing breakfast. Total was a little under $45 before tip. While I wouldn’t pay that for breakfast on the mainland, it’s HAWAII!

Food was good. They honor the complementary breakfast for Marriott Bonvoy platinum and titanium members who choose the breakfast instead of the points for you're welcome gift. I remember when we use to get both, but whatever. The complementary breakfast is a continental breakfast which consists of yogurt, fruit, and pastry. Or you can opt for discount priced places. Our meal for two came to over $50. 😡

The pancakes were amazing and I don’t even usually order pancakes. My eggs Benedict was good, but the pancakes were a hit.

This was the best breakfast that I had in Hawaii. The pink pancakes are like no other. The service was extraordinary. The next time we are back in Hawaii this is a must.

Great spot right on the beach. The views and food was amazing. My favorite was the short rib eggs benedict. Kids loved the pink pancakes. Our waiter Janice was great and had an amazing smile everytime.

The pink pancakes and all of our food was delicious and the mai tai was stunning, but the real magic was the staff. Elaine made us feel like family at Surf Lanai and at The Royal Hawaiian! Thank you for a fantastic experience!

Pretty cool location directly next to Waikiki Beach. Also very high quality menu and the standard American breakfast. Eggs Benedict is pretty good, although the Avocado and Tomatoes Benedict is really bad, just not a good combo. The bagel was really tasty but the oatmeal tasted a bit bland. They have good coffee but no hot chocolate which is sad. There also could be a better wifi. The service was really funny and also fast.

The guava pancakes are really good! They are one of the few "flavored" pancakes that actually taste like the flavor they claim to be. The restaurant staff and service are top notch and the lanai offers outstanding views of the iconic Pink Palace of Waikiki. This restaurant is worth coming to even if you aren't staying at the Royal Hawaiian.

I went here two times when in Honolulu on our honeymoon while staying at the Hotel. It’s expensive but I’d rather spend more on this view than $10 less anywhere else without it. The food is good and plentiful.. The pink pancakes are a vibe. The salmon bagel was delicious. The bartenders are amazing. If you have a chance to order a cocktail, watch them make it. He is soooo quick and made the best Bloody Mary ever. Janice asked her manager to upgrade me to a Bloody Mary because I had a champagne voucher but it was breakfast time. That is top level service.

Such a great spot for breakfast right on the beach. Our waitress was so kind and excited for us to be there and in Hawaii for the first time. The drinks were amazing and we loved the pink pancakes. Good crispy bacon too!

First and foremost, I’d like to thank our waiter who tended to us with the highest quality. Last minute note that it was my wife’s birthday and he took it upon himself to make something up. Above and beyond! The location of this place is perfect and full of rich history. The food was delicious! This was by far my best breakfast experience while in Hawaii. Sorry not many pics of the food, but the Pink pancakes are a must! Egg Benedicts as well.

Amazing views and atmosphere; the place was peaceful and relaxing (waikiki beach gets pretty busy) - a great way to start the day. Food was good, but expensive for that it is - $30 dollars for a stack of pancakes (no sides included) is a bit too much.

The food was great and our server John was very nice and helpful. We had the omelette with sausage and the yogurt parfait. I'd like to try the pink pancakes next!

The Surf Lanai is a very beautiful, scenic beachfront restaurant/bar (called Mai Tai Bar). I enjoyed starting my mornings having breakfast in its restaurant. Also, enjoy an evening at their Mai Tai Bar. This bar features great tropical drinks, romantic views, & live local entertainment. The Surf Lanai is located in the historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel (aka The Pink Palace), a Waikiki Beach beachfront resort. Since it is on prime Waikiki Beach property, the food & bar menus are pricey. But factor in the excellent service & romantic/majestic scenery, trying the Surf Lanai JUST ONCE, is well worth the memories of your Hawaiian vacation.

Got the Short rib eggs benedict and it was delicious. Heads up This place is expensive, but it's located near the beach at the The Royal Hawaiian. All workers were so kind and it was a great place to start our morning.

Stunning location, very nice food, but be prepared to pay for the location. Make sure you check out the rest of hotel too if you aren’t staying there - it’s a beautiful and iconic part of Waikiki.

Best bellini I’ve ever *EVER* had. Ever. Just to be clear :) Janice was awesome and super sweet! Also, hands down my favorite food I’ve had thus far- between Maui and Oahu! I ordered the brisket Benedict and it was finger liking amazing!

Looked through restaurants on Google map and found this place to be filled with pink umbrellas.  So, we came to Surf Lanai to have a pink brunch. The restaurant is a part of The Royal Hawaiian Hotel.  So, not a cheap brunch.  It was such a nice day to be eating by the beach.  The atmosphere was almost perfect...almost...

Surf Lanai at The Royal Hawaiian (Hawaii 2018): The Royal Bake Shop Banana Bread French Toast and Pink Palace Pancakes. Posted by pennyandrusty. If you’ve been to Waikiki, you’ve probably seen The Royal Hawaiian… with the bright pink facade, it’s difficult to miss this long-standing resort nestled up on the beach. One of the things that they’re known for is their famous banana bread. While we’ve never stayed at The Royal Hawaiian, I’ve read that guests receive this in their rooms when they first arrive. However, you don’t need to stay at The Royal Hawaiian to experience it as they also have an on-site bakery that sells the banana bread.

Im giving it 4.5 because of the view and good service. The foods were good and okay. It is a typical buffet, nothing spectacular though the price can be so spectacular. Had bacon and egg, coffee is not that good.

Terrible coffee and very expensive! Location is amazing but service leaves a lot to be desired. Food was ok - generous portions
FTW
Most expensive breakfast ever. Was it worth it? The location is unparalleled, you are there sitting in history and you can feel it. Part of the cost is location location location. I had te Benedict, not bad., the eggs were done right, the muffin had a little crisp to it, the hollandaise was very creamy and buttery but missing the hint of citrus that the menu claims. My hash brows came well done as requested, big points. My Mai Tai was marvelous. Our service was not good, in fact it was BAD, waited 10 minutes for our waiter to acknowledge us as he ran by several times saying, "I'll be right there". Probably managements fault for burying him with to many tables. The saving grace was a gentleman by the name of Wayne who was bussing, he took care of the check for us and the rest of our needs. If you go there, ask for Wayne as your server, he is fantastic.

Highly recommended. Visited Surf Lanai for breakfast having heard stories of their french toast from decades ago from my father. It remains fantastic stuffed with macadamia and carmelized bananas. The pork kulua Benedict was good, but the french toast was by far worth every penny. If on a budget skip the coffee, at $5 a cup it was hardly 100% kona. Service was also excellent.

Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic view. Call ahead to get a cabana! I only had breakfast there, but with each item, the execution was precise and done with care. The waiter was very polite and hospitable, doing things just as I was going to ask. The service is top notch, just as you'd expect from a top notch hotel. There is a reason why royal hawaiian is an awesome establishment, and it really shows.

Very mediocre food at very high prices. Lobster roll sucked!
