Review The Signature Prime Steak & Seafood - Honolulu

Fantastic dining! We came here for the first time 2 years ago during COVID and were so impressed with the experience. So I booked to dine here again on our 2nd visit to Oahu, Hawaii recently and was for my husband’s birthday dinner. This upscale restaurant is situated on the 36th floor at Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu. 10 minutes taxi ride from our hotel, Halekulani in Waikiki. Beautiful decor with nice ambience. Our table has a stunning view of the city & marina. Gorgeous night lights! It was packed at 6.30pm when we arrived. Even the bar was very busy. Lovely live music played by the pianist. Very nice vibe. Great menu. Our food was delicious. Steak was perfect. The crab and shrimp cakes were moist and tasty. The scallops were plump and juicy. Lobster bisque was creamy and flavourful. Our server was very attentive and efficient. The restroom was really clean and cosy.

Good food, fast service, and nice view (could be better if you can get a seat facing the ocean instead of the city). We really liked the live piano music. A bit pricey but worth it for a good dinner experience. The filet mignon was delicious! We got complimentary mashed potatoes which was nice (they were good but not memorable). The chopped salad was well mixed. The creme brûlée’s caramelized top was a bit too thick, but the filling was well done.

Very nice restaurant. Service and food was amazing with large portions proportionate to the price you pay. Every table has a gorgeous view of Diamond Head and the ocean. They even have a live piano player that takes requests and really adds to the ambience. Parking was easy with valet at the Ala Moana Hotel and you hop on the elevator with the red carpet and go to the 36th floor. Our waiter, Peter was very helpful. He was polite, knowledgable about the menu and able to answer all of the questions we had concerning an upcoming large group dinner we have planned here. Needless to say we are definitely going back and have found a great place to enjoy for future date nights and events.

I don't understand the mixed reviews. This place was amazing. Service, food, atmosphere. All 5 star 🌟 One of those rare places that just gets is all perfect. Definitely coming back!

Food was phenomenal, views, service and food all was 10/10. Anyone rating less is crazy. The service was so good and the creamed spinach is delicious

Get there early to line up for happy hour. It is well worth the wait. Amazing views and service was excellent. This was my first time. I have yet to pick a favorite appetizer. Start with the steak tartar with the arugula salad. Lychee martini is a must try. I would be back to try new and exciting dishes.

We went for happy hour and sat at the bar. It is first come first serve, no reservations. You can valet park at Ala Moana hotel for $6 with validation. The rib eye was tender and flavorful. The shishito peppers, oysters and nego toro were tasty. The bloody Mary is on point. I recommend.

My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner -- the reason why we were in the Islands in the first place. We've been to a lot of chop houses across the states and this was one of the BEST we've ever had and one of the BEST dinners we've ever had, hands-down!!! If you're lucky, you'll get Stephen as your server. He is, in a word, perfect. My wife had the pork chop and I had the long bone veal chop, which was like a baby tomahawk. Both of our cuts were like BUTTER. If you want an awesome night out, you can't go wrong here! Just don't be a punk and wear something halfway decent. An aloha shirt works just fine. Make your fits meet the ambiance at least halfway. It's the perfect spot for a special night out or just a GREAT night out! Thank Mr. Kim for holding it down at Signature Prime!!!

We had a wonderful experience celebrating my birthday. The service, food and atmosphere was outstanding. A special thank you to Donovan for making our night so special! We will definitely be back!

My family had a chance to enjoy dinner from Signature this week. The ambiance was active and fun. The view was spectacular. The service was very attentive. As for the food, we loved the Miso butter fish, but could pass on the Kurobuta Pork Chop. Loved the garlic fries, but not the Lobster Mac and cheese. The rustic truffle mash potatoes was excellent along with the Liliko'i Crème' Brûlée and the Fuji Apple Pie were WINNERS! Will eat here again!

10/2023 This place is one of the last of the Mohicans. In this same space, there were icons like Aaron's and Nicholas Nickolas. This place has one of the best views in the city, with classic piano music playing in the background. We came up for a couple of cocktails before dinner elsewhere. Sit at the bar ladies and ask Jason Momoa to hook you up with the house specialties. They've got a pretty good happy hour. The romantic and classy ambiance takes you back to fine dining times when everyone dressed to impress, though it's relaxed as well. A nice classy steakhouse feel. Will try the food one day. 😉✌️

Amazing place reminiscent of the old Morton’s Steakhouse that used to be in Ala Moana. I would say the steak is even better. It is definitely not an affordable option but still an awesome dining experience. All a la cart menu but everything was delicious. Definitely go for the cocktails!

Service was great. James was our server, he was awesome. Made our last night in Hawaii a memorable one. The tomahawk steak was from snake river farms. Prepared perfectly. The ahi was so fresh. Dessert was amazing. Drinks were on point. Really nice ambiance with good background music. Really enjoyed our date night.

We had good birthday dinner. Steak and onion soup are delicious.

For the price of food I would have liked them to clear the crumbs before dessert. We have better wines here at home. The calamari had sauce all over it thai peanut sauce that made the fried calamari soggy. It was great first few bites. The peanuts should have been ground down. The lemon garnish it came with does not go with the sauce so I used it for the plain shrimp we got. The lobster bisque just needed a tad of salt but it was nice to have not over salted. All of the fish we ordered was super fresh and the servers were very nice. The owner/manager never stopped by but was around and did not seem friendly. The music was Hawaiian until the Jazz played and for awhile the music was simultaneous. The view was amazing. The company was excellent... I went with mom. Since I have access to $100-$500 bottles of wine a total of 300 bottles here we are trying to unload, I ordered a cheap wine which was fine. I cannot rate that. For the views I would say worth it. If I go again I will get the lobster b/c it was so fresh in the bisque. I still have 5 more days at least here on the island.

This was my husband's and I first time in Hawaii and at this restaurant. We read reviews and were skeptical but this place was absolutely amazing! All of the food and the staff were wonderful, especially our waiter Nick. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food and an amazing view!

It was our first time for my birthday. We ordered for appetizer buffalo shrimp, dinner rib eye, lamb chops, sauteed mushrooms and came with mash potatoes. And my birthday gift desert Bru'lee. Everything was excellent, food, service, server, waiter, pianist, the view and ambiance was perfect. We will be back. My mistake was my calculation on the tip, it wasn't enough. Will make it up next time we're there.

Wife took me here for my birthday. As soon as we exited the elevator was welcomed by hostess and they knew it was my birthday from my wife making the reservation told them. Had a nice booth overlooking the city right around sunset. Waiter came right away and again mentioned the birthday which was good and took our drink orders. My go to drink is a Makers Mark old fashioned, and I asked for a recommendation on whiskey hoping he would upsell me or something new but didn't. Our drinks came quickly and then we ordered our app and entrees. He mentioned the specials and then took our orders. I asked for a recommendation on a red wine to go with my steak. The waiter seemed to just remember a few key names and then read the wine menu with me. I am usually not a stickler but considering where we are at and the price, it would be nice to see more wine knowledge from him. I took the one he recommended and asked for it with my entree. App was the seafood tower and came out with all the utensils needed and hand wipes. Food was great. Nice presentation. The lobster was cracked and easy to eat and the oysters were preshucked. The sashimi was alright but the prawns were nice and big. Even came with a little tobacco sauce! Waiter came back to check on us, as well as the manager. He also said happy Birthday which was nice and thanked us for coming. For the main course I had the prime filet mignon 12oz and my wife had the crab stuffed chicken. Side of lobster mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. My steak was medium rare and tasted amazing. One of the best steaks I have ever had. Better than Cheesecake Factory. Wife chicken was ok, kinda dry on the ends but the stuffing was pretty good. When the waiter came to check on us, had to remind him about the wine but he quickly came back with my glass. For dessert they comped a lilikoi creme brulee with happy Birthday written on it and we also got the Tahitian cheesecake. Both very good and the happy Birthday was a nice touch. Overall we both had a great time. For a fine dining experience I truly enjoyed myself. It would be nice to have the waiter be confident in complete wine and menu knowledge as well as alcohol. I have worked as a bartender for years and kno how it goes. He had a few needy tables and one walk out so I give him credit. But as I said earlier with 60 dollar plates and fine dining, you would expect the best. I would go here again for a special occasion and will tell my friends and family where to get the best steak in town.

Chop salad came with blue cheese, which was not described on the menu. I don’t eat blue cheese. Waitress was very confrontational when I asked for a salad with out the blue cheese. Not impressed with her service. Chicken breast stuffed with crab meat was so dry it was hard to cut, let alone chew. Not impress.

Arrived minutes before Happy Hour ended. Everyone was fantastic in seating us and getting our orders in to take advantage of the special pricing, without making us feel rushed. Our waiter, Riki, was a delight with lots of personality and made my Birthday celebration a truly fun event. The food and the view were spectacular.

Priceless view and pricey food! The piano bar was really fun. The waitress was great; suggested the rib-eye steak appetizer, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. Two of us had the steak, edamame and buffalo shrimp appetizers. That was plenty of food for us!

The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was romantic, along w/an amazing view...the only thing �the piano player, seem to be rushing the music, the piano sounded like it needed a tune up or the pianist was off key...other wise for our first time there the food ,service ,servers was all exceptional excellent...�

About a year I used to come here a lot really enjoyed it. I went in the other day with family who have never been to Hawaii. Apparently, you can no longer have a window side seat during happy hour. Additionally, the host and server were very condescending that we requested happy hour. The food is still great.

Great food, great service the price is high but the quality of the food and that view, its worth every penny. Peter you have a great restaurant and I can't wait to go back.

Arrived early for our reservation-got seated right away and our drinks came right away- but after that it was down hill from there... the waiter Nicolas was not very attentive- he took about 25 minutes to come back to our table to take our order and didn't offer any specials that he told the table next to us about. He catered to the surrounding tables but conveniently forgot about us. It was like he was avoiding our table on purpose. When my husband was about to walk out he came back to our table. He didn't even bring our food out to our table - another server which I didn't get his name was awesome - he offered desserts to us and even recommended a dessert that wasn't on the menu for the evening. He even came back to check on our beverages and offered refills. Food was meh and service was terrible. I Don't recommend this if you want a nice dinner for a special occasion.

Can't complain........amazing food, nice ambiance, fantastic view and to top it off live piano playing all the classics! We are glad we found this excellent restaurant!

Awesome experience!! It was our first visit and we will definitely return!! Service was outstanding...Bone-In Ribeye cooked to perfection and as requested...from the appetizers, the sides to the main dish...all served hot and fresh!! And the view from the 36th floor..amazing!!!

My husband and I just went last night to celebrate our 16 year anniversary. My husband got an amazing table with the best view 🙌🏻 It was so beautiful to watch the incredible waves. The cocktails we so good! The appetizers were incredible and cooked to perfection 👌🏻 My husband had the bone in ribeye and it was perfect! I had the chicken with crab stuffed inside, I was not impressed ( that is why I took off the one star) I would just order something else next time. Maybe I will actually get steak next time 😬 We had the lobster Mac and cheese and the truffle mash potatoes. To finish it off they provided us with a complimentary Lilikoi creme brûlée 😋 that was delicious! We will definitely come back when we have sitters again 🤗

Hosts, waitresss and some food servers were friendly. Nice atmosphere and very nice view. The food was excellent. But felt like we were rushed. Waitress gave us that feeling like give me your order, eat your food and get out of here. I would like to go for happy hour though.

The Waiter was fantastic; the truffle Mash potatoes was awesome, the fried calamari appetizer was exquisite. My steak and wife stake was cooked wrong, I wanted medium rare and my wife likes her steak medium well, we got our steaks cooked crossed. Kinda messed up our experience. I questioned the sever that brought the steaks to us "is this medium rare"? You order bone in rib eye didn't you! In a sarcastic tone! That's I give this restaurant 3.5 to 4 star for the experience.

Our service was excellent from the hostesses to the wait staff to the busers to the manager walking around asking how we were enjoying our meal. The ambiance as well as the view was extraordinary. We are local but our first trip there. We’ll be back.

The food was great, the atmosphere and the view is remarkable. But somehow the service was not the best. They were getting mixed up with our order. The other guy was kind of slow in providing wine for one of our co-worker.

Nice setting, food was very good, service was spot on and the view is hard to beat On the high end, but it was a special occasion.

They say there isn’t a dress code but if you don’t want to get stared at you should wear a button down and khakis at least lol. And also, the food was outstanding!!!! Rack of lamb, ribeye, Maine lobsters, and the filet was amazing!!!!

Hubby and I went out to celebrate our 21st anniversary and had a wonderful time. Everything from the hostesses, to our waiter Matthew, to our food and drinks, to the view and ambiance...was exquisitely perfect! The only minor downside was that they ran out of scallops that I walked into the restaurant knowing I wanted to order. Other than that, Thank You Signature for making our anniversary a very memorable one!

Great food, great view, great atmosphere.. Quite noisy in there with everyone chatting to each other, but I didn't mind. Pricing is fair considering food and service quality. Celebrated my girlfriend's Air Force Training graduation and received a complimentary dessert. If you do happen to go here for a special occasion, I highly advise you mention it! Felt that my steak could have been a little better, but I was still satisfied nonetheless. I tried the 16oz rib eye [medium rare] and probably expected it to be slightly more tender and juicy. More mash please!

I thought their steaks are pricey for happy hour but it taste good so I will rate it in the middle. it's fair I will go back
