Tex Drive In & Restaurant - Honokaa - Photo album

I had never even heard of Malasadas before today. OMG the best breakfast food EVER. I highly recommend. I went with a Bavarian Creme and a Strawberry Malasadas. They came out warm and were delicious.
Came here for malasadas on our way to Hilo. We got there around 9:30 am and it wasn't busy at all. We ordered the basic cream filled and guava. After tasting many varieties on the island these tasted different from the others. They were fresh and warm but more crispy on the outside. A little more de
I’m not sure how I found this place as I think some people recommended my husband and I try this since it’s our first time in the Big Island. It’s so great when it comes to your classic, authentic, Hawaiian food. We got a plate with fried chicken and beef which was sliced. The rice and macaroni sala
Loved the open seating areas and the chickens coming in and out. Lol. Parking around the building so even if the restaurant is full, you won’t have a hard time find a place to park. 2 of the 4 bathrooms were out of order and could stand to be cleaned. There is a window to watch them make pastries.
We came just for malasadas, and they were good! Larger than expected, also. The employees were pleasant. The chickens are adorable. The bathrooms were cleanish, one had an unpleasant smell.
I ordered fish & chips, my wife ordered the meatloaf, oh and a malasada. The meatloaf was absolutely delicious. When I go back I'll also order the meatloaf lol The malasada was delicious (best on the island, according to my wife)
Nothing spectacular about the service. No acknowledgment when entering or when waiting to ask for some utensils. But they are very busy and probably short handed. The malasadas were super yummy. Fresh and warm.
Basically a nice place. We did not know that type of food and the gal who waited on us was a grump. Minimal explanations to our questions.
IMHO the best malasadas available on the Big Island. Worth the 1 hr drive if staying in Kailuha-Kona.
The guava malasada was very good. Bigger than I thought it would be. The banana cream was so so. No paper towels in either bathroom.
The plain malasadas are only $1.89. Filled is $2.89. Bacon burger was great. Fries had no salt and $7 strawberry smoothie... not worth it. But the manassas and burger were bomb. My family loved it. Nice people too.
We stopped here for lunch and were happy with everything we got. My husband got the chicken loco moco with a side of tater tots and I got the mahi mahi plate. We also got guava and mango malasadas. They were much bigger than I was expecting and warm when they came out. Very yummy! Service was pretty
Good God, Krispy Kreme has nothing on this place.... Wow. These are awesome! Love them filled with mango, Bavarian Creme, and Pineapple. The Loco Moco Hamburger is REALLY good too for a lunch.
Great little spot recommended by our guest services. Lots of different flavors and choices to choose from for a savory or sweet treat. Great little find in a place with an astonishing view. I had the guava malasada and pog juice, loved it!
Wow! So tasty and if you love sweet donuts this is the place for you! Malasada is a donut made fresh and filled with your favorite cream, fruit and topped with sugar from Hawaii!
Fun place to stop for some delicious treats. We also had lunch here. Highly recommend the Hawaiian hamburger.🍔
I had never heard of malasadas until a Body Glove tour guide described these incredible pastry treats. We drove all the way across the Island to experience the freshly baked pastries and they did NOT disappoint for sure! You can go through the drive thru, but I recommend going in because you can wa
Recommended to us by a friend who used to live on the island. A must-stop when heading to Waipio. The malasadas (we had banana and strawberry) were incredible!! We didn't take pictures of lunch because we ate it too fast, but the bacon cheeseburger, grilled.mahi burger, and teriyaki beef sandwich wh
Delicious food all around. Prices are reasonable and the staff were super friendly. It was a rainy day when we got there, and it was after 4 so we missed out on the gift shop. There’s seating outside and a couple of tables inside. Restrooms aren’t the greatest, but it’s a public restrooms the re
