Review Schermerhorn's Seafood - Holyoke

Just no. I felt like I was on an episode of kitchen nightmares... kept waiting for Gordon to come out, STG, and he never came to my rescue. Someone should have told us all to stop eating! I would not recommend this place if it was the last place to eat. Let's start with the fact that they have a twin lobster deal...... but lists next to it "no sharing". Huge tacky turnoff. For 1, who are you to tell me what I can do with my food that I am buying and paying for?! and for 2, I can see this being an issue.. we travel alot ourselves and probably at least a little under half the time, get a meal to share bc we have no medium- either we're starving or just need a little something to get by. Their menu lists "Maine lobster". No. It's definitely not. We ask for clams, she said steamers? , no, clams. She says ok. Brings us steamers with a dish of hot water, apparently to wash them off 1st. The lobster was so blah and bland I ate maybe 2 bites. The steamers turned out ok but not what I wanted or ordered. The steak was disgusting. Flat and fatty. I think maybe an 8th of my steak was edible. Big waste of money for zero taste or satisfaction. The food looked good... looks are definitely deceiving in this situation.

Great Seafood (side of building) selections! Great restaurant food and services! Dessert great....s15-$20 ice cream/cold/frozen pies to eat or go for the family...Great variety of flavors also...plus a lot of surprises...(I will let you come and enjoy them when you stop in!) On the fish store side... Dave...

We were on our way home via I91 from a ski trip so my wife was in the mood for a good New England clam chowder. We had two main selection criteria. That it was on the way home and that it was not too pricey. The last and obvious criteria was that it was great food and boy did they deliver. Admittedly, we did not have breakfast yet expecting that we were having an early lunch. The nice lady who served us said "The best onion rings in town" as she served her first plate appetizer. When she came back, my wife and I said we both totally agreed. But instead she should say the best onion rings in the entire state. The Fried Calamari was crispy and tender and it was a nice portion for sharing just like the onion rings. Undoubtedly, they were using the same batter and that was fine by us. Just be aware that the batter is on the salty side. We had fries on the side which was a good complement. The coleslaw the standard but freshly made. The clam chowder was excellent. My wife was quite satisfied but I would have preferred more chunks of clam. We would definitely come back, especially when certain seafood items are available.

I'm sorry to have to give it 1* the staff were nice and attentive, but they was overwhelmed, the place was packed, all the tables full, and no food coming out of the kitchen. The food took almost 2hrs! to get to our table. The food was not good, except for the fries.. the fried shrimp tasted like old oil, and the shrimp on the inside was dry.. Definitely not worth $92 dollars.. besides that, the place is completely outdated, and in dire need of updates.. the tables we had, were falling apart.. easily shaking, like loose.. i think that if they have this many people eat their food, they should move to a bigger space. I'm sorry to say, but 1st and last time.

You order at the counter and sit with a number at your table and they deliver your deliciousness! Pound of steamers in a bucket is more than enough. Very generous! Boiled lobster done just right with drawn butter. Clam chowder was delicious although my server forgot to serve it as an appetizer so I took it to go and ate it for breakfast the next morning LOL.

Delicious meal at Schermerhorn's. I tried to call in to place a to go, but couldn't get anyone on the phone. So I just stopped in! I was not disappointed. I ordered a cup of New England clam chowder and a lobster roll. The chowder was excellent. The clams in it were very clean, not gritty at all and was full of clams and potatoes. It was seasoned well and very warming. The lobster roll was phenomenal. Just overflowing with lobster salad. The bun was perfect at accommodating all the lobster. Highly recommend and will be returning.

Their seafood and lobster prices are always the lowest in the area. There is a restaurant and ice cream area as well, with plenty of indoor and outdoor tables. No-frills dining.

Our family used to come here many times over the years. I was looking forward to a great meal. I was surprised that their prices had increased so much. We each had a fish platter with a soda, no alcohol, yet it cost over $50. I'd still go back for their ice cream but not dinner.
