The Italian beef is very good but, the burgers are juicy & outstanding. Also have a great sauce on the burger..Everytime I am near either location I am there. Also like the rustic ambiance, Oh & the fries are REAL & fresh cut while you are there., needless to say they taste better than they should because I tend to eat then ALL..
How could anyone not love their delicious Italian Beef Sandwiches?! They're HUGE & served on fresh yummy Italian bread too. & They're even better w/the garlic & cheese options! But if you can't eat such a big sandwich, they sell half sandwiches too. Super fast polite drive thru experience each time I've been here during their busy dinner hours. Highly recommended!
Love this place. If your not in the area for Gene & Jude's, this place will be happy to step in and scratch that Chicago dog itch. Highly recommend. The beef is great, the combo is awesome and if you get one with cheese on garlic bread you will think you have died and gone to heaven.

Wow, the cheezy beef on garlic bread was absolutely amazing and the fries were pretty darn good! The whole staff was very nice, even the manager. If you're near any of the locations and you love Italian beef, you have no choice but to go to the beef shack.
Best Beef hands down. If you like Portillo's or don't, you'll love this place more. The meat starts off rare so it doesn't get dry or tough and it baked in a oven with you favorite toppings. I normally get the garlic butter on my bun and get it hot with loaded cheese. Don't forget the fresh cut fries, a large feeds 2
So funny reading the reviews complaining about the kid working the register. So he had an earring and doesn't talk much, big deal. The other workers were very friendly and fun to talk to. The most important thing for me is good quality food, and this place delivers. I have had a beef, hot dog, burger, fries, and they are all extremely good. I love how they make the fries, just slicing a potato and frying, nothing frozen or pre-prepared.
Oh and as for the reviewer complaining about not getting reduced price for hot dog because it's $3.50 and you only want cheese on it, all hot dogs come with fries (and the fries are huge), that's why the dogs cost so much.
So anyway, this is not the cheapest place, but you get what you pay for and the food is quality.
I've been here many times and have always enjoyed it. I'm a big Buona fan, and Beef Shack is the only other beef I like. I think it's much better than Portillo's, which I feel has gone down in quality in recent years (but that's a whole different review). The cheesy beef on garlic bread isn't something I have found anywhere else and is really good. And I don't get the reviews criticizing the fries, because they are awesome. Who prefers frozen fries with added chemicals and preservatives over fresh cut fries? I'd like to try the burger some day but the beef is so good that every time I go I can't resist it.
Absolutely fabulous!! Had a cheezy beef with hot peppers. It was steaming hot, bread was fresh and service was quick! I would highly recommend them! They have a limited menu but I think that gives them more time to concentrate on the great food they already have on the menu.
