Review Zum Rosenhof - Hinesville

I would rate this place 10 stars, if I could. The food was absolutely delicious (pork chop dinner and bratwurst dinner, both with potato salad), and the staff was incredibly friendly. We got in a little early at 4pm. By 5pm, when we were leaving, it was getting crowded! I can't wait to eat here again and try something different!

Cozy seating around the bar and a handful of tables. Larger parties can be seated upstairs. Great food and service. A grocery store next door with German based products. And like every other store there are supply issues. Definitely worth a look around. I picked up a few things.

We've been meaning to visit this restaurant for 2 years, since we moved to southern GA. So today, on our road trip/vacation we stopped! The food is great, the store was fun and the service was perfect!!! We went back a month later and it was, once again, a great experience.

Lovely place to visit. The food was just kinda bland, but then maybe that's Germans for you. I wanted the chicken cordon Blu but was only able to get the pork. My partner had pork schnitzel and noodles covered in mushroom gravy. All very bland.

The ambience was good. The food was a little over priced for the amount. I asked for pretzel cheese for my fries. I got a 2oz plastic souffle cup that wasn't even full. The sauerkraut didn't really taste fresh, almost canned. I am not sure if I will be back.

Very good food and atmosphere! I will make the trip back from Hilton Head for sure.

I had the Brezel Appetizer with the Paprika Shane Chicken Breast. The food was incredible and the environment was just as good. There’s even a small german convenience shop next door!

I love the Thusday lunch special. I haven't had anything less than tasty on any day though. Service is always great too. Plus I usually head next door for some sweet German treats after.

Very good! Authentic German food with great service at lunch time. They have a small menu that they do really well. They run daily specials and have a beautiful display of desserts.

Outstanding reasonable plate lunch. Authentically German. I liked it so much I had two lunches! The few poor reviews are hilarious. You can just picture the "Arts council" whacko, her review is all about recognizing how important she is to herself! Anyway glad I saw the billboard. Bummer I'm on the clock and couldn't have several beers.

Super!!!. I lived in Columbus for many years. The last German restaurant there did not meet expectations. Though the beer selection was good. If you live in the FT Stewart area. You are blessed with a gem of a restaurant. I wish I lived closer than 5 hrs away. With a new grandchild there at FT Stewart we will be back and will not pass up a chance to go back the this place. I haven't been that satisfied with a meal except in my home, in a while. The whole experience was fantastic.

Fantastic. We had Jagerschnietzel and the Roumalade combo. The Roumalade combo Was exceptional. Love the atmosphere and the owner is a Dahling. Highly Recommend!

Got the "Taste of Germany for 2" it was a nice spread, lots of food. If you haven't been to Germany you should be impressed. If you have... Well it'll do if you need a fix. I recommend the brat! The schnitzel was good but not the best. Well worth checking out if you're in the mood. A bit pricey for me.

It was definitely different that's for sure. My husband got a Rump steak and no knife to cut it with and after sitting there for ten minutes waiting for our waitress he finally asked a different one for a knife. We did enjoy the food and the atmosphere. Just didn't think the food was worth the money we paid for it. Not going back.

If I were a man?. I came in yesterday after a meeting along with my husband and was made instantly uncomfortable by the lady ...we asked where to sit as it was our first visit, being new to the area and she replied "on your butt". So we walked to the back first to sit at a dirty table in the corner (only one other table was occupied). So we moved to the bar and sat, and sat. Another set of customers, two male soldiers walked in and sat at the bar and immediately she walked over to them and handed them two menus them turned back to us and handed us two. She then went back to her first male at the original table (she was having a conversation when we walked in and continued to talk never asking us if we wanted a drink). She then waited two minutes before waling over to ask us for our drink orders before we ask how long it took for orders to cook since the menu cleary-in yellow says cooked to order and I have a meeting scheduled with the Hinesville Arts Council about becoming a member...she informs me they cook chicken from raw to done in seven minutes...now as I made clear I am an artist but I also have been married 17 years and have five children which means I cook- and you cannot cook chicken in seven minutes which means it is in fact either: pre cooked- fine but own that or admit that I may in fact be later than I intend because we all know you may be there waiting on a meal for a hour a half at lunch time while a meeting is scheduled and that looks unprofessional. So I needed honesty. I never raised my voice even to the point that other diners knew the issue in the establishment and we still paid for our teas we had ordered...but she was very rude...she did not wait on us in a timely manner is was too busy flirting with her customer in the corner to even have all her tables clean in an empty place and trust me through my collage years I served many a table, I would have much preferred the blonde lady that was trying to fill the condiments and have her own lunch serve me than the incompetent brunette working yesterday who ignores someone she has no idea will soon be spending lots of time and money shopping and eating in downtown Hinesville ...actually Kyle at Uncommon Grounds told me to try it out over there...never again...now that I am proud to soon be a part of the Hinesville Arts Council. I wonder if the food there is any good...hmmm

Authentic before you make it in the door. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. Decent selection of beer and generous portions of very good food.

Limited menu, efficient service (what else would you expect?). A military town without a German restaurant is a lot like a military town without strip clubs and pawn shops; neither exists. So I think it is obvious that going TDY to Fort Stewart for 10 days meant that we'd find a German place to go eat at so I could listen to every single person's memories about when they were stationed somewhere in Deutschland 20 years ago.

But this place certainly had a German feel to it. It was even staffed by German's who were efficient in their services to our rowdy table of 6. The lunch menu was limited with basically wursts or schnitzels with a combination of different toppings. That was it, nothing else. Now I'm not saying that German food is particularly exciting, but surely real German's eat more than just pork 3 meals a day. I would make a comment about how a menu like that limits a particular ethnic/religious group from eating here, but that wouldn't be nice of me.

ANYWAY! So I decided that I've had enough breaded pork up north in Indiana for the month, so I went with the curry wurst. A small salad with cold green beans came out and was good enough and had the slight vinegary taste to it, but nothing overpowering. Next came out my currywurst with obligatory french fries. But then again, everybody's plate seemingly came with french fries. Do German's really like French fries this much? It would've been better if they were fresh cut potato fries, but alas, at such a cheap lunch (around $8 a plate) I will accept them. The currywurst was actually very good because the sausage themselves were tender and needed minimal effort to cut with a fork. The curry sauce overtop of them had a sweetness that mellowed out the pungent curry aftertaste. This is one of the few times I've had curry where I wasn't drinking a gallon of water in the next few hours.

Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals too and we enjoyed our service. This place looks like it gets lively at night and I think that it deserves a moment of your day to come and visit it. Gutten essen.

Great German food!. I was picking up my son from Ft. Stewart, and he wanted German for lunch before heading south. Which was fine for me, I had been craving some wienerschnitzel anyway.

I had the one with the mushroom and cream sauce, my son had the plain wienerschnitzel with lemon. We both had the spaetzle. He wasn't too wild about the salad that came with it, pickled cucumbers aren't his thing, but I enjoyed it all.

I plan on making it a regular stop.

Perfect Experience!. We recently got married and my husband just had to move down to Hinesville for a contract job for the next three months. I came down for my first visit and we wanted something unique and fun for our first date night in the area. This was it!!! Our waitress, Jessica, was super nice and so much fun. The food was AMAZING! And the beer was awesome! I can't wait to go back on my next visit. And my husband is already planing to bring his coworkers there. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

Went here for dinner when I first arrived at Hinesville. Service wasn't quick but really, really polite and I told them I was in no hurry/took my time to order so may have set the tone for a slow pace. The food was very good. Tasted just lime the food i had when I was jn Germany. All of the waitresses working spoke German so gave some authenticity to the atmosphere. Definitely recommend going (and probably want to bring a DD!)

Quaint German restaurant where is beer cold, food is authentic and service is personable. For the town of Hinesville, GA this is a great place to hang out and grab a few. Seating is small but family friendly and strive to please. We had good food and a great experience.

Salad was fantastic. Very close to the real deal, minus the iceberg lettuce. Krystal weisen was pretty good even though I'd never heard of the brand Bravo! Schnitzel wasn't the best, was good but didn't taste authentic. Too thick, cooked a bit too much, just tasted different than those in Germany. But all in all, will go back! Service was great!

Gut Burgerlich aber nicht Preiswert. Good and filling but not inexpensive. Found ourselves at Zum Rosenhof last Friday night because visitors of ours are crazy to eat German at every opportunity. Busy as expected but we were seated downstairs soon enough and enjoyed attentive service throughout. Good German beer on tap and they even serve Spezi (cola-orange soda mix). Ordered several different schnitzels with either spaetzle (egg noodles) or bratkartoffeln (roasted potatoes); mine was the Wein Schnitzel and highly recommended because of taste and size; the thing practically hung over the plate just like back in the motherland. Dinners came with a delicious albeit small salad; a dressing that good needs more to accompany it! None of the ladies could finish their meals. We ended up shelling out $60 (before tip) for three schnitzels, two beers, and a soda. Like I said, not inexpensive but you will waddle out full and satisfied.

Great German Food the way it should be done. Real cucumber German salads and real cream gravy.

Authentic German all around from the food to the atmosphere to the events that they put on. Great place for lunch at a reasonable price. Nice place to treat yourself to a special dinner. Kid friendly too.

Good German Food. Like some of the others here I lived in Germany for 3 years. This is the first restaurant in the states that serves authentic German food. To go with that food they have some good authentic German beers.

Every time I come I come to Hinesville I go here. It is worth the trip. Service could be a little better but the food is good.

I, like many of the reviewers, lived in Germany for several years. Zum Rosenhof was one of the best, most authentic German restaurants I've been to since I've been back. Excellent food, and friendly waitresses. They also had a great cola-bier, which I have also never been able to duplicate since my return. I see many future returns there...

Great German Food!. I spent 12 years of my life in Germany, and I love German food. This is the closest I've come in the states to authentic German food. The food and the German draft beers are delicious and there is always an ample selection of homemade cakes for dessert. I live in Savannah and drive to Hinesville frequently to dine here.
