Amazing! Had my birthday dinner here. We got there later than we wanted and there was a 1.5 hour wait for outdoor seating. We didn’t mind because there was a nice deck waiting area where we had cocktails and watched the sunset. Wish I would’ve brought a jacket though because it gets cold after sunset on the water. Food and service was incredible. We even saw the boat come in to deliver the freshest catch. Highly recommend!
Wonderful time sitting outside on the water. Nice little outside bar and plenty of tables to eat and drink. I ordered the fried green tomatoes to share along with the chef salad. There are a lot of shrimp and seafood plates to choose from. Would highly recommend to eat at. Also has inside dining. Casual attire is fine. The waiter was so efficient and friendly.
The best hush puppies on HHI! I recommend ordering hush puppies on the side ($3.50).
Tasty food for good prices. Staff was friendly, and the outdoor seating was very nice.
I had a BLT and my husband had shrimp. We ordered extra hush puppies on the side because they were so good. A great place to have lunch or dinner!
What a wonderful place to relax, kick back and enjoy some seafood! My grandma and I came here for dinner after a celebration, and everything we had was delicious.
Can highly recommend the crab stuffed shrimp, and the chefs special which when we went was flounder, Asian potatoes, and more! All looked good, but the best is the view. Be sure to wait it out for a table outside, it is definitely worth it.
The service was also wonderful and our wait or was knowledgeable of the area and kind!
Hudson's on the River is a Hilton Head institute.
The hush puppies alone are worth the visit (if I could steal them in my purse, I would).
Sit outside, weather permitting. Try to time it so you'll be there at sunset. There is something magical about the sun sitting on the marsh lands.
Order seafood. The shrimp is so fresh, caught right there.
This is a must do/ see in Hilton Head. Buy the shirt, take the pictures, you deserve Hudson's.

Best hush puppies ever - Jay says like little donut holes, but I loved them even though I’m not a donut diner. Absolutely incredible view, fried seafood platter was generous enough for us to share and take leftovers home.
First time eating here, excellent meal!! Hush puppies are addicting and the fried oysters were delectable. Everything was cooked to perfection. He got the stuffed shrimp, another outstanding meal. Had to sit inside because of rain, but still got to see a couple of sharks.
1st time here and "LET ME TELL YA SOMETHING!" I said "LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING!!!" Food was amazing and Delicious! Got the chef special whole fried flounder, risotto with swordfish, and the neptune seafood fried platter. Everything came out hot and fresh! Also the fried coconut shrimp 🍤 also delicious .
A couple different friends recommended Hudson’s so we had to try… it did not disappoint us. Everything tasted great. Sweet tea is southern! Atmosphere was load an busy to be expected at a popular local destination.
We dropped by while visiting the area. Very pretty location, despite the cloudy day. David, our server, was on point. He knew everything on the menu, e.g., preparation, ingredients, etc. Presumably, it was the manager who dropped by to check on our dining experience. Food came out quickly and was mostly to our taste. My wife said the pizza was just ok. I liked the Rueben sandwich and stuffed mushrooms. We'd definitely return to try the seafood.
We ate on the outdoor patio with the 2 dogs. They brought them out little buckets with water, which was soooo sweet! The Service was excellent! Ask for Carly, she's the best! The She Crab soup and hushpuppies are my favorite along with the steamed shrimp. My husband had Neptune's platter and it was huge! He got fish, clams, shrimp, scallops, and deviled crab in a crab shell, plus coleslaw and red rice! What a feast! We got bread pudding to go!
Food was excellent here! Some of the best seafood we’ve ever had. Hush puppies were delicious too. It was very crowded there with a long wait so we were unable to get a table outside but outdoor seating would have a beautiful view. We watched a nice sunset while waiting for our table!
Was on a trip and looking for a great seafood place to eat. Settled on Hudson’s for our choice. This was our first time at Hudson’s and it did not disappoint. We arrived around 6:30 and it was beyond packed. I got our name on the list for two and was given an hour and a 15 minute estimated wait time. Larger groups were looking at 2 hours. You could get your name on list for outside sitting that had about a 15 min less wait time from what I was hearing. At first glance, the place looks a bit run down and small from the outside but inside was very clean and larger than originally thought. There were long benches around the outside to sit but it was a bit hot but to be expected in the summer. There was a beautiful view of the water and docks on the side of the restaurant with both an inside and outside bar to order drinks from. We tried the strawberry daiquiri and it was delicious. Our non-alcoholic one was $9 and was smaller that a Dixie cup. To our great delight, we were called to our seating within 40-45 minutes of putting our name on the list. Our waiter was friendly and came to check on us throughout our meal. We both ordered She-crab soup which was delicious and the Neptune Seafood Platter blackened and paid a little more to have sword fish as our chosen fish. The platter was huge and consisted of fried oysters, stuffed crab and blackened shrimp, scallops, sword fish, baked potato, slaw and hush puppies. I can say there was nothing on our plate that was not absolutely delicious. With tip, we paid right at $138. Had we not upgraded our fish and skipped the She-crab soup it would have been around $118. This was probably one of the best seafood platters I’ve ever eaten so the cost was justified for a high quality meal. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area. You will have to be patient but the meal is worth the wait.
Everything about this place, from the authentic dockside setting to the wonderful service to the exquisite food and even to the historical element is just so on point and traditional. For northerners like us, this is the quintessential low country experience. Take note - this will not be a cheap meal (even the menu says as much). But worth every penny!
The food was delicious from the appetizer to the peanut butter pie. Had the blackened seafood platter, crab cakes were very well done, lots of crab. Shared the platter with my 16 yr old son as we went for a late lunch. Sat on the deck overlooking the water. It’s a must try for your visit, from NY and would not say this for some of the other meals I’ve experienced in HHI.
A good family seafood restaurant to go to when visiting Hilton Head Island, the fish is fresh, and the restaurant overlooks the water. Our server Shaw did a great job explaining the menu and the daily special. Expect a long wait before being seated in the summer.
The food was amazing! We got the swordfish, Mahi, and Black Sea Bass. My little one got a grilled cheese and loved it. We also managed to squeeze in dessert with the mud pie that was big enough to feed all 4 of us. Surprisingly, we went on a Friday night and managed a wait time of about 15 to 20 minutes. The waitress was great, in the midst of all the crowd! The atmosphere was very homey feeling. The views of the bay were amazing as well. Definitely recommend if you're in the area looking for great service and seafood!
Every time we visit HHI, Hudson's is a must. The sunsets are breathtaking. Service is always on point, and tonight was no different. We arrived with a party of 16, was seated rather quickly, and Michael was our waiter. He was super personable, knowledgeable, and attentive.
I absolutely love it here. Get shrimp. Anything with shrimp. Shrimp tacos, shrimp po boy, peel and eat shrimp all are great.
The drinks are good particularly the rum runner. But I also like the low country lemonade.
You can sit inside or out on the dock. As long as it isn’t raining sit out on the dock. Maybe even if it is raining.
And you MUST get the brandy bread pudding for dessert (as long as you aren’t allergic to nuts). It is the best dessert I’ve had in a while. So rich you should share it but you might not want to.
