Takenoko Sushi - Hilo - Photo album

Really fresh food and very delicious. Reasonable price.
Best sushi in town. Great selection. Delicious Aji, uni, cod roe,... 8 seats in the house. Try the abalone, the baked Avocado, and delicious ice creams & sorbets. Try it all!!! Reservation only.
Hands down this sushi is the best. It tastes like it came straight out of Japan. Which it did! All the fish comes straight out of Japan and caught the day before. It tastes so good but I had to wait 9 months before I could dine here. This was so good. 5 star rating!
Amazing food. Had the chirashi chefs choice. Great service. Tea was tastey. Only eight spots to sit around in a sushi bar set up. Reservations required. Had a ring a bell to get in.
The best sushi restaurant I've ever been to. Pricey but so worth the quality, you get what you pay for. So good, he's booked at least 6 months out. If you can't get a reservation, order takeout.
Best restaurant on the island, but good luck getting a reservation as they are booked until 2019
Learned of this place 3 years ago and now it is our most anticipated Sushi eating spot in Hilo. It is difficult to get in due to limited seating(8 seats) and availability but if you make a reservation some months in advance, you might get lucky. They offer to go orders as well. The owner creates tra
went there for husbands birthday lunch. ordered the chefs choice. plus the baked avocado. everything was amazing. great lunch. great service. highly recommended
I'm not a fan of sushi but this place is absolutely heavenly! I ordered the baked avocado crab salad and the mushrooms to start and omg I could not get enough. Then mason meal was the broiled salmon, just a bit salty for my taste but still so good. The ginger and wasabi was the best I have ever had
Called to make a reservation (10/2/18). Lady told me they are booked through June 2019. Then told me the only way to get a reservation is to show up AT THE RESTAURANT on December 27, and wait in line. Told me they start lining up at 4:30 am, so get there early if I want a reservation in the secon
This place would do well in Tokyo. World class sushi and a welcoming environment once you get your reservation a year in advance. Everything is top notch, even the items you may not like elsewhere. If you can get in, go, but don't take my spot!
Excellent sushi quite possibly the best in Hawaii! I do not get the one star reviews from people who have not eaten here because of being booked! You get what you pay for, EXCELLENT food, to all the cry babies who leave one star reviews because you can't get in, enjoy your 711 sushi :)
BE AWARE Takenoko has a reservation list that is usually booked out a year in advance (i.e. by summer 2017 they had already booked all of jan-june 2018). The books are open for reservations on two days during the year, once in July and once around Christmas. Call ahead to confirm when they will be
Always the best, can't go wrong with anything you order here.
Great service, extremely small traditional style sushi bar with a long wait list! Highly recommend reserving early and getting Chef's choice.
Excellent Sushi, by far the best in Hilo. Sushi chef is a real Sushi chef and you can tell it from his Sushi. It is a small Sushiya and reservation only, that way the chef can take care of the customers in a timely matter. Takes four or five months to get a reservation.
My favorite sushi best I have ever had. The ingredients are always fresh and rice is always consistent.
Excellent service! Nigiri: Toro, hamachi, tombo, salmon, shrimp, pieces were bigger than the rice. Select Chef platter. The butter fish, melts in your mouth. Lychee sorbet to die for.
