Review Naung Mai Thai Kitchen - Hilo

If you enjoy Thai cuisine, this restaurant is a good choice. The fried rice and seafood are both delicious, and you can also choose different levels of spiciness! However, when it comes to recommending meat dishes, I'm not sure how to advise you! We had a nice experience here. The owner was very friendly. The food came up very fast since we hurried to the airport.

This place is vegetarian friendly and so many options for vegetarian Thai food. We ordered the following items and everything was Thai hot. Pad Thai - it was really good and the chilies were provided under the plate so once you mix it. It was like heaven. Panang Curry with Brown rice - the best curry I have ever had and the brown rice was great. Everything was spicy and flavorful. Mix vegetables with Sticky Rice - this was first time sticky rice were sticky I have had sticky rice at other Thai restaurants but this was authentic. It was so good we went again and ordered so much had to take it to go. The food was amazing.

BEST THAI FOOD ON HILO SIDE Beautiful little restaurant, authentic food, warm and welcoming staff. Priced well also- what more could you ask for. Parking can be a bit tricky but so worth it to eat here. Definitely recommend the glass noodles and the seafood red curry. And of course a Thai tea!

What a delicious vegan-friendly place! Great thai food. We had the summer spring rolls, panang curry with tofu, pad kee mau, and mango sticky rice for dessert. Staff was very nice and welcoming, the food came fairly quickly, and it hit all the right spots with flavor and spice. Highly recommended💛

Hidden gem in Hilo. Worth to find it! My avocado (veggie) summer rolls were super fresh and delicious. Pad Thais were also delicious and spicy (medium spice). Friendly personal and fair pricing. Yellow walls gives you a joyous vibes. We recommend you to visit this place.

We went to Naung Mai for lunch and ordered Basil Eggplant with Tofu and yellow curry with Chicken. Both the dishes are served with rice. It was hands down one of the best Thai food I have had till now. The flavors were authentic, balanced and just perfect. I would definitely recommend going to this place. Thanks for the wonderful meal!

We were greeted with a very huge smile that instantly made me feel so welcome! A very homely and feel good place! The aroma coming out of the kitchen was so good! I had found this place through google reviews and had at first thought it was a fancy place and then only realized it was like a cute kitchen with dining space! This place is extremely vegetarian friendly and got us super thrilled! We ordered the pineapple fried rice and it was so yummy!! We also ordered fried Tofu and green papaya salad both of which were good but I loved the fried rice the best! Great local experience! Quantity matches the price!

This place was amazing!!! Everyone was so nice. The pad Thai was the best we've ever tried. The broth in the rice noodle soup was So wonderful. They don't play with the heat so if you're sensitive to spicy be easy. We couldn't figure out where or what we wanted to eat and I am so glad we landed here. If you're in the area you should definitely give this place a try. Great food. Great service. Great everything!

We got takeout on our vacation and the staff was super friendly. The food was excellent!! Very good fast Thai food! I had the basil eggplant with tofu. My husband had the phad kae mae with chicken. I really appreciate the local sourcing and eco friendly containers

Pumpkin curry was delicious and the sweet woman remade my papaya salad so it wasn't too spicy and I asked to add avocado. Thank you so much for the jasmine tea as well 🌸🎎

We ordered the yellow curry, cashew chicken, Tom Yum soup and pad thai. All pretty good but small plates. Lot of locals ordering take out. The staff was great and friendly. Our server might be the owner and she was wonderful and funny.

Great tasting food, generous portions. Lots of gluten free options! One point off because the staff seem to be pretty impatient sometimes but that’s it

My husband and I are always trying out new places to eat. This place is not so big so sometimes seating can get "non-existent". Don't be deterred though because not ONLY is the hostess/waitress REALLY nice...the food AND drinks that we ordered was SUPER flavorful and fresh😋 What's even more great is that you can order which "heat" you want🤙 My husband had the Spicy Basil stir fry w/beef and Brown rice and I had the Pumpkin Curry w/beef and Jasmine rice and to drink, we BOTH had Thai Iced coffee 💜 I FULLY recommend that if you're in the mood for Thai food and/or you want to try somewhere NEW...THIS is DEFINITELY a place to try! Needless to say, my husband and I found a restaurant that WE will ALWAYS come back to 😋 Aloha🌺🤙 Well...we went here again and STILL haven't been disappointed 💜 This time, my husband had the Spicy Basil and Eggplant w/Beef and I tried the Panang Curry w/Beef and a Thai Iced Coffee. EVERYTHING was SUPER flavorful and CAN'T wait to come back and try a new dish🤙

Have not posted about this business in a couple of years, kind of forgot about because of the different choices in the area and we have to travel from the other side of the island. Food was outstanding. This is a traditional Thai restaurant with the food you are most comfortable with. I really like it.

Delightfully tasty Thai food. Brief wait for a table, but the reasonable prices, polite staff, and darn-good food was worth it. The panang curry was super tasty and we'll prepared, though be warned that while it filled me up, it was a bit light on chunks of chicken. It's also BYOB, so I recommend grabbing a bottle of wine at the nearby KTA Superstore en route.

I'll make this quick and simple as nobody got time for an autobiographical review 🤙🏼 Please carefully check the street parking schedules. ‼️ You don't wanna get a ticket. This place has no designated parking when we visited. So be careful 🤙🏼 Having said that, this place is absolutely worth visiting! 🤩 Delicious food! 🔥 Friendly staff. ✅ Restroom at the back. ✅ Follow me for more short but accurate reviews 😎🤙🏼
