Review Jackie Rey's Ohana Grill Hilo - Hilo

Amazing everything! The service was exceptional, the food was excellent and the place was beautiful. We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation and they were able to accommodate us after a short wait. Our server was respectful, accommodating and very friendly. We got the drinks right away, a bit of bread to share and waited for the main course. I got surf and turf, unlike what I am used to, it was chops and a giant butterflied prawn instead of steak and lobster, and all of it was super tasty and cooked the right temperature. The rest of the meals were good too, especially the risotto that came with the chicken dish, out of this world. I am hoping to visit again and try other drinks and dishes!

Great place and attentive staff. A little pricey but I guess you pay for the nice ambiance and healthy options. We tried the club med salad, fish and chips, and chicken with capers. We love the tartar sauce with the fish, basil dressing for the salad, and the capers with sauce were generous. Highly recommend to anyone when in the area.

I feel you can’t go wrong in what you order here! The kitchen delivers spot on flavors and all cooked to order. Enjoyed the lobster ravioli w/delicious complex flavors and a tender, juicy bone-in pork chop that satisfied. Cocktails are excellent. An ordering snafu caused a delay however the server made it right, in a very sincere manner. Also its location is a former bank with super high ceilings and a very nicely done interior.

This was our first time at Jackie Rey’s and we will be back! The service was great. I made a reservation a few days ahead and received a text reminder the day before and the day of. We arrived at 4:30 and had little wait time for food, which was perfect for our toddler. Our waiter was patient and helpful in explaining everything. He was very knowledgeable in each dish and how they were prepared. We ordered several entrees and shared around the table so we all could try a little of everything. We ordered the clam chowder, kalua pork spring rolls, surf and turf, lobster ravioli, seafood trio, chicken and shrimp pasta, and finished with the brownie roll, creme brulee, and lilikoi cheesecake. We were very happy with the prices of the appetizers. The clam chowder and kalua pork spring rolls were so perfect. Each of the entrees were great! We all agreed that the lobster ravioli was amazing, but we wished it came with more garlic bread. I do wish there were more mocktail options. I was disappointed to see only two. The deserts were so good. The cheesecake came with a small scoop of mango sorbet and it was so good!! We wished we got a bowl of that. The daily flavor of creme brulee was red apple, which surprised us how good it was. All the food was very fresh and prepared well. Overall, we are happy we tried Jackie Rey’s. We can’t wait to go again.

Went here for an anniversary dinner, and food and cocktails were good. It was a bit pricey, but we enjoyed it. Seems to be a very popular spot for tourists but really like the old history of the building and very close to downtown Hilo. 👌🏽🤙🏽

Ate there on 9/27 soon after they opened. GREAT food and service. The greeter at the front door wasn’t very personable and kind of rude. Did we make a reservation? Umm no. I wish I could remember the server’s name because she was great and we never wondered where she was, even though she was busy. We would consider eating there again if we’re in the area. Parking was easy to find and we parked on the street about 1/2 block away.

Excellent food choices, flavor, and presentation. I had the hawaiian prawns with ravioli, which was amazingly tasty. The pasta was thin and not chewy like most, which allowed the flavor to come through. Hubby had fall-off-the-bone ribs which were delicious. Dinner was accompanied by well crafted drinks and followed up by delicious cheesecake. Highly recommend!

Amazing seafood in Hilo. Stopped here after viewing Kilauea and my wife and I really enjoyed it. Best restaurant in Hawaii! We both had seafood dishes and wine. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Highly recommend.

Happy Hour 4pm to 5om daily. Here are the secrets; 1) make a reservation, arrive at 4pm 2) park on the one way street 1 block up. Parking is free after 4pm. 3) order a lot of items. 4) tip more than usual 5) a party of 6 might get you the private dining alcove like we had. I love a great happy hour to try a lot of menu items at Very reasonable prices. They are not $5 anymore, but $6 & $7 is still a deal. This is a beautiful resteraunt with well executed food and professional service. The ahi tuna tartar with sauce was our favorite. The crusted brie platter is gorgeous, we would like an entire bowl of the pineapple topping. Make sure and put that on the delicious bread too. They even have a few happy hour entrees, not to mention some NA moctails on the regular menu. Enjoy.

We really enjoyed this place in Hilo. It wasn't too far to go after visiting the volcano, you can make a day trip out of it if you're staying on the Kona side of the island. The food was amazing, especially the ribs and coffee creme brulee!
