An iconic local country tavern on the edge between agricultural and high tech Washington County. Great, I mean GREAT grilled burgers and fries. It’s grown from a tiny country bar in a rustic building to a tiny country bar in a rustic building with additional dining room space for families and an terrific outdoor patio. Burgers are grilled behind the bar, and sitting on one of the bar stools there and having a beer and burger is a joy. The fries and onion rings are good, and the servers are great, seemingly knowing that they work somewhere special. Get there early; the place can fill up with an eclectic crowd for lunch before 11:30. BTW, you can do take out too, but then you don’t soak up the ambience. On the other hand, your car or truck will smell like burger heaven!
Forget all you know about what you thought was the best burger. Helvetia tavern will blow your mind with their burger. I will never go anywhere else except here.
What a guilty pleasure to enjoy such a tasty cheeseburger! It was cooked to perfection and accompanied with either onion rings, fries or potato chips! The onion rings were great, crispy and lightly breaded! I also enjoyed a Shiner Bock on tap that was perfect with the burger! There were several beers on tab to choose. Our server was efficient. Beer was there within a minute and lunch within 5 minutes! I like the playful atmosphere of the bar!
What a treat! A trip back in time. 1000 baseball caps adorn the ceiling, and framed potato sacks and pressed tin wall tiles complete the decor. Straight out of 1946 when it was founded. A sign over the grill "This isn't Burger King, you don't get it your way" completes the sentiment. 16 beers on tap, and a rudimentary menu of mostly burgers. The burger was the biggest I've ever seen, and the flavor of "fresh, never frozen" really came through. Onion rings were great too, a generous portion, and even a little sweetness in the flavor.
This is a restaurant located in a rural farm land setting. The location is very rich in history and a wonderful drive. The Helvetia Tavern has a great hamburger and very delicious onion rings and french fries. This place is well worth the visit and located next to the Roloff Farm of little people fame.
What a burger!! The double cheeseburger is no joke, definitely one of the largest burgers I’ve ever had. Delicious too! This place is cash/check only, and worth the drive + wait!
How can you go wrong with Oregon beef burgers and onion rings???
You can't ...
Quick friendly staff and good cider.
Personally I'd of loved a dram of whiskey or scotch but the cider was good and it's quite nice
There was a small line when we pulled up but they got people in and out pretty quick. Service was excellent friendly staff. And the food came out very quickly and was fresh. The jumbo cheeseburger was big two 1/4 patties on a big bun. But was delicious tender flavorful beef. Overall great experience will definitely come back.
