Come have the best Mexican food, both authentic and fusion, you'll ever have, even in Mexico. Also learn, if you don't already know, the healing properties of tequila. Only drink 100% agave tequila in moderation and you'll never get sick or hungover from drinking again. Did you know that tequila is the only alcohol that is a stimulant rather than a depressant like other alcohol? It's also best to drink tequila straight, although margaritas are more worth the calories than other mixed drinks, to avoid the unnecessary sugar, which is what makes you feel like death is the only answer the day after too may of these. And don't forget to drink a glass of water for every alcoholic drink to avoid dehydration that not only makes you nauseous, but makes your head feel like it a giant weight is pressing on your neck. And last, but not least, a trip to Chilangos is not complete without meeting the man behind the sombrero. Leo is without a doubt a need-to-know person for his sparkle and warmth. Best Mexican food in NJ, no doubt. The owner, Leo, is a master chef and a nice guy too. Juan the bartender is back and makes the best Margaritas you will ever have. The food is legit Mexican and the delicious Salsa Chips are made on premises. It's a haul from my place but well worth the trip every time. Another plus: they have one of the biggest Tequila selections I've ever seen.
My favorite restaurant in Highlands! Everything is FRESH and the portions are large, so it’s nice to be able to take the rest home, as a second meal. Service is great and staff is very friendly. Drinks are also amazing, especially the margaritas. It’s small and quaint, so it’s nice to go as a couple or as a family. Highly recommend!
Good food, fun atmosphere , great margaritas & the best spicey tequila!
We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and immediately introduced himself. The margaritas and the food were excellent and the portions were enough to bring leftovers home and enjoy again! Will definitely be returning soon!
Really authentic Mexican food, Excellent staff, amazing menu, outstanding amount of Tequila Choices. The owner, Leo, and his family dedicate his resources during hurricane Sandy providing meals for the victims, in spite of being a victim himself. Like a phoenix from the ashes, his restaurant was remodeled and is better than ever now. He kept his menu affordable even though it should be double what he is charging. Enjoy.

Just went there on Friday with a few friends from work to celebrate another great birthday (which in my case all month!) and was treated like a queen! The entire place sang happy birthday to me!!!! And it was packed! The food & margaritas are always good! And last but not least....Leo, the owner, always stops by to say hello! We all had a blast!!!
Came here after a couple of years to see if it was as good as we remembered. It was. It's a wonderful restaurant. Highly recommend.

All I can say is WOW!! My boyfriend and I had went to sandy hook beach from 4 HOURS away, and we had tried some pretty Nasty food... mexican is my absolute favorite food! And this place is awesome, most Mexican restaurants are crappy and so Americanized it's pathetic. But this place is best.

Met up with an old friend had a great time sitting at the bar eating fantastic food and drinking tequila. The bartender is very knowledgeable about their over 200 tequilas and made great suggestions. we had a blast.

LOVE Chilangos food is by far my family favorite Mexican restaurant. The staff, the atmosphere, food and its owner Leo are the perfect combination. Planning my next visit already!
We are locals and have eaten at Chilangos before. However, recently we had an exceptional experience! When we walked in to arrange catering for our engagement party, Eric, the owner's son, welcomed us warmly. We spent a Saturday morning with Eric, discussing the catering menu and customization options. Chilangos is all about cooking for you and with love, and they certainly delivered. The tacos were a solid 10/10 at our engagement party, where we had over 60-70 guests who were asking where the food is from. A huge thank you to Chilangos and Eric for making our celebration unforgettable!
Delicious authentic Mexican food and drinks - a staple in Highlands and the surrounding area. The owner is super friendly and is always accommodating to our family. One of the few authentic Mexican restaurants in the area that serves alcohol. The fajitas and margaritas are some of the best around!

This is THEE MOST AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurant in Highlands. The food is fresh and the drinks are delicious. And if your lucky you just might meet the magic maker himself.
This is still the best Mexican restaurant in the Highlands and it just keeps getting better. I just had the Margarita Flight which is 3 5 oz. Margaritas (passion fruit, prickly pear and mango) and 3 tacos (coconut shrimp with coleslaw, pork & pineapple and steak). As usual everything was delicious. I highly recommend and will definitely be going back.
I used Uber Eats to have our dinner delivered. We ordered 3 chicken tacos with corn tortillas.plus a chicken fajita salad. All fresh ingredients ingredients the chicken was cooked to perfection. Delicious ! Keep up the good work. AND I've seen the owner at our recyling center. That makes me happy to see the restaurant being responsible.

A delightful waitress makes all the difference. Tatiana was attentive, pleasant, friendly and took every opportunity to make us feel welcome and cared for. The food was plentiful and tasty. We will be back!
This place is a hidden gem. Can't believe I've never stopped in before. If you like Mexican food this place is a must visit. If you like tequila, they have 100+ different types. The prickly pear margarita is fantastic and the pork and pineapple tacos were unreal.

Whenever I'm visiting my friends in the Highlands and they ask me where I want to go to eat, I pick Chilangos. Not only is the food great, but the staff is also friendly, and the drinks are fantastic. The place is always busy, but we've never had to wait. If you find yourself in the area, give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
This review is all about the Chile Relleno, it was off the charts delicious. Mama’s recipe includes an amazing mix of chicken, almonds, plantain, raisin, pineapple and tomato; so unique!
