We had a delicious meal here for my 50 birthday. From cocktail to creme brulee, we highly enjoyed everything. Service was great as well. Not sure if this would be a good restaurant for a sunset dinner as it was late when we arrived, but the restaurant itself was lovely. We had a reservation but there was plenty of seating open at 7.30pm on a Sunday evening.
Incredible food and location on the shore of Lake Sequoyah. We have been coming to OTV for a 30 years and it doesn’t disappoint. The horseradish encrusted Halibut special is melt-in-your mouth delicious and they have an excellent wine by the glass selection. Sitting at the bar while having a cocktail and appetizer is a relaxing evening with great service. Check out the specials board for innovative appetizers like grilled grapes and whipped feta.
We always enjoy dinner here. There's a lovely view of the lake and you can see a bit of sunset color. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. The food is deliciously prepared. They keep the menu small so only the freshest and best dishes are presented. The service has always been friendly and helpful with food and wine suggestions.
Stumbling upon this restaurant by chance, we couldn't resist joining the line forming just before it opened. Once inside, we were embraced by genuine southern-style hospitality and treated to mouthwatering dishes, with the shrimp stealing the spotlight. Nestled beside Lake Sequoyah, the location added an extra layer of perfection. The waitress's warm customer service was the perfect finishing touch. I highly recommend this gem for anyone in or around the Highlands area.
This place was beyond what I was thinking it would be. Lakefront dining this time of yr is the best. Nice and cool out. 65 I had the NC Pralines Trout.
The food and atmosphere were both great. We were a little disappointed with our service. We let our waiter know we would not need the wine list at the beginning of the evening and he continued to insist that we should be ordering wine throughout the entire evening. It was funny at first and then became off-putting. The food was good, recommend the Brussels sprouts and fried Brie. Be sure to make reservations!!
Our dining experience last night at On The Veranda was perfect. I went with my sister, and we were shown to a delightful table for two overlooking the lake. The food was excellent, and our waiter Tate was wonderful. We never felt rushed while we had our “sister time”, but he was always available to check on our drinks, or bring us our next course. It was a perfectly relaxing happy evening. My sister has recently finished radiation treatments and this was a very special time for us together. Our dinner at On The Veranda did not disappoint!
Finally! ... a restaurant that serves amazing food. I would actually compare to the best in NYC. Melt in your mouth, from beginning to end. Our server, India, made the experience even better. Bravo!!!

Make sure you go when Lisa is there singing and playing the piano! She is the best! Varanda has been in Highlands forever. Very good atmosphere, amazing service, great food… I have been going there for 20 years!!!
We were taking a scenic route and stumbled on this little place. What a great stop. Food and beverages were great, service was outstanding. We ate out on the porch with a wonderful view. Inside was warm and cozy yet refined. Enjoyed our time and glad we made the U-turn to go back and check it out.
Lovely dinner with my husband. The only problem was dessert . The description did not mention that alcohol was an ingredient. I could not eat it.
I've been going to OTV for as long as it has been open. I have not been in years as we live out of state, but it was as delicious as I remember. The atmosphere is relaxing as well. I love it here!
Saturday night, beginning of Fall, live piano bar Fri & Sat night. On the lake. Great service. Lobster picatta, LOBSTER picatta, LOBSTER PCATTA!!! Just get it!!!
Mine and my partners favorite intimate dinner place. The food and service are always impeccable, and the atmosphere I feel is a lot quieter than a lot of the other restaurants in town. The view of the lake and the wildlife is 10/10
On The Verandah is a wonderful restaurant! My wife and I took her mother and sister and had a magnificent meal! Great food, great service! Can't go wrong with that! We'll definitely be back!
OTV made a special day an excellent evening. Seated lakeside, great foods, and five-star service. We especially enjoyed the fish specials, Halibut, with an exquisite sauce and the scallops.
Probably one of the best restaurants that I’ve ever been to.
Simple presentation & quality preparation. The chef is not trying too hard…delivering a wonderful plate of food (reasonably portioned). It was expensive but not overpriced–you get it why you pay for.
The trout was delicious. Goat cheese salad was top notch–simple greens but wonderful dressing.

We went for a birthday dinner and we're slightly disappointed. We had reservations however we had to wait. Then the special was no longer available. Our server was not enthusiastic about service! Slightly neglectful. Maybe it was just an off night.
