Our first night in Highlands had us wandering around aimlessly looking for places to eat that had something for all of our cravings. My daughter wanted pasta, I wanted fish, my husband, steak. Wild Thyme popped up ét voila all our needs were met. Delicious cocktails and excellent service married with freshly made, hot cuisine. All three of us polished our plates. Which almost never happens. There is always a to-go box in our future. Our server was a lovely lady who was working doubles because they are short staffed for the holidays but she still managed to smile and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. She didn't miss a beat and I salute all staff front- and back-of-house, who created magic for all lucky enough to experience them. From what we're told they serve soups and salads for lunch so perhaps we'll be back before we head out. They were truly masterful at their craft.
Over-priced but good food. It was a 30 min wait to get seated. We had a soup, spring rolls and the Risotto shrimp fritters. 16$ for three fritters that didn’t taste of any shrimp is ridiculous! The soup was really good though. Having mentioned on the menu that they charge 4$ for sharing food feels like nickel and dime-ing and a super cheap thing to do.
This was a great restaurant. Had some of the best grouper here, if not the best. My blueberry mojito was fine, the cocktail menu didn't knock my socks off but definitely a solid restaurant. Staff is excellent. Highly recommend.
Good food. Great service. Great location. Sorry I wasn't able to get some pictures of the plates. I was with friends and family, so I didn't want to interrupt the fellowship. Suffice to say the Goat Cheese Salad and the Spicy Bacon Cheddar Burger were huge hits.
Really enjoyed the Atmosphere and other patrons. Very friendly and staff remembered ur name. Very nice. Bread was really good, Calamari off the charts and Spring Rolls were very good also. Sweet Tea for the WIN. Waterfall Beef was Amazing. Cooked to perfection.
Excellent food, great service. The manager came by twice to make sure we were enjoying the food. They make great mocktails. I had the blueberry lemonade mint mocktail. Their blackened chicken and avocado wrap with sweet potato fries was delicious.
Year after year Wild Thyme consistently delivers excellent food, service, and a special experience. The atmosphere is chic with white table clothes and excellent service from a food and wine savvy staff. The chef and kitchen staff know how to consistently serve good food with excellent presentation.
Great spot! Food was great. Wine was great. Service was great.
The weather was so nice we sat outside under the red umbrellas. Great outdoor space.
We got the spicy bacon burger and fish & chips. Both were delicious. I don’t do mayo, and the ‘spicy’ of the burger is some kind of flavored mayo in disguise, so I said no to the mayo.
For dessert we had the caramel cake. I think it was a special not on the menu. It was very delicious!
Our server was very attentive and professional.
We’d definitely come back.
We came to Highlands on a last minute trip, was able to get a reservation which I highly recommend cause this place gets booked! Atmosphere was awesome and food top notch! Staff was great! If you are visiting the area, make sure to add this to you stops
A great energy vibe with indoor & outdoor seating. Folks with dogs seating outside provided a great & energetic atmosphere. The food was very good with mediocre service from our server. However, the supporting cast staff seemed to be much more attentive & supportive of the poor overtaxed server. They seemed to be quite understaffed & unprepared for a busy lunch, but that can happen at any restaurant that gets inundated with a large & heavy rush of people within a condensed period of time.
The special of the day, onion soup, was very flavorful & the salmon that I added to my goat cheese salad was cooked perfectly, honestly. I can't stand when salmon is overcooked to the point of chalkiness, and this salmon was prepared by someone who is skilled, attentive, and takes pride in their work. Tasting the salmon made me an instant fan. All in all, we all really enjoyed our lunch visit and I suggested to our group to come back for brunch. Hopefully, I can get our group to come back. Regardless, my wife & I will be back!
We have been customers several years and are never disappointed! Excellent food, attentive staff and laid back outdoor seating which we prefer. Indoor seating is great we just love the weather in Highlands and try to sit on the patio when possible. Dog friendly as well:)
Excellent food, good service, pleasant atmosphere, not tourist friendly. In October 2021, not knowing much about the Wild Thyme, we went for dinner on a Monday when most restaurants in the area were closed. When my girlfriend called to ask a few questions about the restaurant's location and parking, the lady on the phone was a little short with her and did not answer her question. Therefore, I would not consider this restaurant tourist friendly. However, we found the restaurant and were not disappointed in the experience. The Maple Brie appetizer was particularly good, as was my girlfriend's Shrimp and Scallop entree. The goat cheese, cranberry and walnut salad was also particularly good. The pan seared WNC Mountain Trout was the best trout dish I have had. I loved it! The chef did an excellent low-carb version by subbing spinach and asparagus for the polenta. A friend had the Portobello Mushroom Napoleon which she thought was well prepared, but too soupy for her taste. The portions were appropriate. Our server, Dolledon, was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I thought the prices were fair. Most menu entree items were between $25 and $35 with a few more expensive. They offered indoor and outdoor seating. I would return.
We returned in July 2022. The food was as good as we remember from last October. We found the hostess and the staff to be very friendly, efficient, and accommodating. I had Bacon Wrapped Quail, and my girlfriend had the Veal Chop entree (The special that day), We enjoyed our entrees. My girlfriend had coconut cake for dessert, which she described as the best she has had.
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. This was Tom’s bday dinner so we had high expectations. The courtyard dinning area was great for allowing Bogie, our Westie to join the celebration. Ethan our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. He suggested the Portobello Mushroom Napoleon, layered mushrooms in a fluffy pastry and a sherry tomato cream sauce was delicious and highly recommended for a vegetarian option. Tom for his bday entree ordered the Shrimp and Sea Scallops. Poached in a lemon dill caper cream sauce with snow peas. Again a great dish. Tom also enjoyed the Lump Crab Fillo Purses. We selected the Patz & Hall Dutton Ranch Chardonnay an excellent wine. The only negative comment or experience of the evening came from the General Manager when asked if they had a specific aperitif he snapped back a no and offered no options or a menu. Our waiter apologized and came back with the menu. When in the Highlands NC area this restaurant should be on your to do list. Like below if this was helpful.
This was the best place to eat! Their kitchen was delicious from beginning to end, and Bo service was the best! He served us timely and always with a smile.
Totally wheelchair accesible, they have indoor and outdoor sitting.
Would recommend cookies! But to be honest, everything was delicious!

Easy to find the place. We were able to find a good parking spot nearby despite the hectic dinner rush. Restaurant has a nice ambience. Our server was attentive and our food arrived at a timely manner. We got lump crab in fillo purses, hubby got bacon wrapped quail and I had shrimp and tasso linguine. Portion sizes were decent (I personally dislike restaurants who overfill plates). We thought the prices were a little steep hence the 4 out of 5.
Had a great dinner of the specials consisting of Lobster Tempura appetizer and Rack of Lamb entree. Also have a decent wine list and nice ambiance.
Impeccable service (Madeline was amazing) and the food was absolutely delicious. The crab cakes may be the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I had the mountain trout and my husband had the pork chop. So so good!
Everything in highlands was booked for dinner. I finally found this restaurant for a 7:15 dinner time. BOY, so happy we did. Everything was fantastic.. my husband had salmon with mash potatoes, I had the waterfall tenderloin dish. It had enough spice to make,it perfect tasting. Our server was great, coconut cake was delicious! What an experience! I’m suggesting it to everyone!
