I NEVER leave Google reviews. In fact, I’m usually making fun of people who do. However, my experience in this restaurant has been the most horrible one I’ve in my recent memory. We came in at 2pm, post-lunch rush. My girlfriend and I are very familiar with the food industry. No worries, we understand having to wait over an hour for our food. They also gave us half off for the wait. The straw that broke that camels back ended up being both of our lunches (ahi and salmon wrap) being served almost completely raw. I also know ahi is served pink in the middle, but this was almost entirely pink. Just look at the photo of the salmon wrap. I also got a taste of a local IPA that had two flies in it. I should’ve walked out and honestly should still go request a refund for my money.
Edit: also their side of balsamic tomatoes was nothing more than leftover burger tomatoes with a dash of balsamic. Pretty embarrassing. Also we weren’t given any silverware and I had to get up to get my own + napkins. I just moved to hermosa and I definitely won’t be back.

Not a great breakfast experience. First off, our coffee came with those plastic coffee-mate weird creamers. We asked for half and half but none, had to settle for milk.
We each got avocado toast. Avo was not fresh, looked (and tasted) like a premade shmear. Which led to the toast being soggy pretty quickly. And free range eggs for a buck more?! Just offer us the good stuff, why an option to have quality ingredients?

As a local, we really appreciate the quality of the food and the location. The food has been quality EVERY TIME we walk here; particularly the Ahi Tuna. Definitely give it a try!

Great little spot with amazingly delicious food and good service. Had the Avocado Toast and made our own scramble and both were delish! The $10 unlimited mimosas are a great deal too! We also had the mandarine goat cheese muffin and all I can say is WOW! Definitely will be returning to this spot plus we live down the street.

So disappointing. I was really looking forward to having a good meal and my meal was just blah. We paid $135 for a meal that was mediocre at best. The service was TERRIBLE. I asked for a both because my elderly mother prefers that and we were given a half booth where you have to scoot in, did I mention that I clearly asked for booth for my 87 year old mum? The service was so slow and when our food came out, one dish was hot, one was lukewarm and when I told the server the fries were cold, she looked at me like I was nuts, I told her to try one, she felt the fries and agreed they were cold. They literally put them in the microwave and returned WITH THE SAME FRIES heated in the microwave. GROSS! My brother's club sandwich was dry, the side of tomatoes with basalmic had no flavour. Maybe it was just an off night, but certainly will not be going back there anytime soon. Yuck.

If you haven't already tried it, you owe it to yourself to give this place a shot. It will quickly become a local favorite. The simple design and layout defines a local beach cafe, but the menu is so much more. Clean white and blue theme is understated and you could walk right by. The signage is right on the corner, so make it a point to take note. The location is awesome, being close to the beach and just north of Herondo. Parking is metered on the street but is normally open during the weekdays without an issue. There is outdoor seating with some shade available along the front and then there is a rear patio with a more quiet and private feeling. The rear patio has some nice touches like the vines on the walls and the tile flooring. Both outdoor spaces offer heat lamps for the ungodly cold Hermosa winters. The interior is clean and seating is comfortable with options from the bar to chairs or booth seating.
As for the drinks, they offer an array of house cocktails. I took the suggestion of the staff and it was a cucumber martini. having just finished an imperial stout (Yes! breakfast in a bottle is available) I didn't have high hopes because it isn't something I would normally order, but i have to say it was pretty impressive. I believe they had a full bar. I know the beer selection was pretty nice and the wine menu was more extensive than you would think at a beach cafe. I'll come back and try the Manhattan as I heard a couple comments while I was there.
Staff was pleasant and they offered suggestions. It was nice to sit and not feel rushed. I ate and drank, but was also working on the computer, so i was there a while and i never felt like i was taking up space.
I tried a vegan burger and it was good. Not great, but it was good. It's clear in the menu that several of the dishes are pretty creative and interesting. I'll have to trust others to that, but the vegan menu is pretty limited. I hope this will expand some in the months to come, but at least there were some options for me. I noted that they appear good about meeting the needs for gluten free orders, so that's cool. It's nice to see this is becoming more common for those in need.
For coffee lovers, this place has great coffee. They may not have all of the candied over sweetened garbage that is overtaking Starbucks, but that is a good thing. If you love the standards, this place makes a great espresso, latte, coffee etc
Decor is interesting and the overall vibe is about as perfect as you could get for this neighborhood. I look forward to coming back.
Almost forgot, they have bottomless mimosas!

A lovely little place in a prime part of town. The salmon, pot roast, sliders, ahi - it's just all literally amazing. I don't typically like kale (which comes with the salmon) but I could not have enough - so good. Very clean place, lots of room, and plus the $10 bottomless mimosas from 10-2p?! My girlfriends absolutely love it too. Definitely one of our new go-to spots.

I went here today to grab lunch and the only thing I can say is, YUCK. I ordered the "build your own burger" with a veggie burger. First, the patty is not a veggie burger, but some gross, rubbery, faux meat patty, on a DRY, flavourless bun served with soggy fries. I called and spoke to the manager who was polite, apologizing and offering to make me something else- her suggestion, the salmon wrap. I went back and showed the manager who agreed, the fries were soggy and under cooked, saying "yes, our fries have been a challenge". Really? Isn't that one of the first things you learn to do? Anyway, the fries were were packed in a separate box this time and i was given a bag, the first time i was just given the box. At this point I would've eaten my shoe, I was so hungry-my shoe probably would've been better. The fries were slightly crisper, but not fresh at all and the salmon wrap had ROTTING lettuce in it! I was literally floored. They served slimy, rotten lettuce. HOW does go out of the kitchen? The manager told me to call back if anything was not right. I was hesitant, but I did. This time the GM came to the phone, I told him about the food and he offered to refund my purchase. I told him I was not going to walk over for a THIRD time and he asked for my phone number to call me back after he spoke to the kitchen. No call back, not surprised. I was really looking forward to having another nice, local place to grad a good meal. Serve on 2nd is not. THE FOOD IS AWFUL. Really bummed.
