Wow, it's a hidden gem. The atmosphere was friendly, the price was in line with comparable places, the wait staff was exceptional and the food was to die for. In our group we had the salmon, lasagne and filet mignon. The steaks melt in your mouth and could be cut with a fork. The lasagne and salmon were also fantastic and worth another trip. I highly recommend this place, don't let the menu scare you, it's kind of weak and scattered. Ask the staff if in doubt.
I dont really write many detailed reviews but this place was so perfect...
Prior to trying Back 40 I drove for hours on a work trip in poor weather. I honestly wanted something non-fast food junk but... despite exhaustion and starvation, I passed a lot of typical pull-offs. The quicker the stop the sooner you're home! Unfortunately there's no room for a good beer in that daydream and time crunch. I stopped on a whim after driving past several known, tempting chain restaurants. I finally gave in and pulled into Back 40. I got a beer, burger, and salad. Not just a beer, but local: [136640885735:Uinta Brewing] #hopnosh . I'm not a food snob and I'll eat anything, but I got a good burger with good greens, a homemade blue cheese dressing, and a top shelf (imo) local beer. A sloppy/small town/pass through town burger and salad is fine.. but this stop is just what i needed. The staff was personable and welcoming, and the atmosphere was sincere and professional, yet casual. That's the bonus points of day-to-day life right there. Plus lots of cool, dust free decor. Nice fucking work, team! I'll be back...
We are traveling thru and We picked this restaurant off of yelp! Could not of picked a better place! I had the special. Excellent steak & shrimp. Asparagus yum! Fries awesome! My husbands huge burger & sweet potato fries were delicious !!! AND HANNAH N. Was an awesome waitress. We will return !!!!
Highly recommend !!!
This was a great place I would recommend to all my friends. The staff were extra friendly, you could tell they genuinely love where they work which truly makes a difference. The food was outstanding and drinks great. This is a must place to visit!
The place was busy which is usually a good sign. We're vegetarians and after seeing the menu we knew we could happily eat here. Ordered the portabella tacos which were delicious. The mashed potatoes were out of this world perfect. Great grilled green beans. Salad and balsamic dressing... great. Margarita was delicious. The oatmeal crisp mixed berry dessert was yummy but would be even better with more oatmeal to even out the tart berries. Heber is lucky to have ya!!
Best meal in town! Great staff, great food, great view! Add that to being able to sit at the counter and watch the game... Back 40 is our go-to spot.
We love their food, We have had the chicken gorgonzola, the rib eye, prime rib, salmon, the blue cheese wedge and the lettuce wraps, most of the deserts. Highly recommend.
By far one of the best places I have ever been to. I am from Texas and will be spending the next month or so working in heber and plan on making a weekly visit to eat here. The staff is very attentive, the food is by far some of the best you will find, and you often times do not find an owner that takes more pride in their business, whether it's serving guests or greeting customers the owner is not too proud to get his hands dirty. I encourage everyone to give this establishment some business.
Good food, great service, great atmosphere! And Carrie Topp is the best!!
We loved our Friday night meal, June 1st.. Fabulous menu and great atmosphere...
No matter what you order, get a side of mac and cheese. The mac and cheese itself is worth the trip.
I just wanted to thank all the personnel at Back 40 Ranch House Grill for hosting 32 of our Wounded, Ill and Injured Marines in May of 2018. Your hospitality was truly appreciated, and all of the participants had a great time. Thank you for assisting our Warriors in making lifetime memories. The food and service was absolutely amazing. Semper Fidelis!
Excellent food, good selection of beers and other libations. The staff is friendly and they make you feel at home. I strongly recommend the Back 40.
I think this has been the friendliest restaurant I have ever been to in Utah so far! The staff is friendly and helpful since you enter the restaurant. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. She shared the house special with us and was very helpful answering our questions with the food menu. Food was great very tasty. Beautiful Mountain View as well. We came on Sunday for breakfast, totally recommend trying this place out.
My wife and I are so glad we decided to try this place while in Heber City. The staff was super friendly, the drinks were very reasonable and well made, and the food was amazing. We sat in the yurt with a heated stove going. My wife had the Back 40 Burger on a Gluten Free bun and loved it. She said the bun was one of the best gluten free ones she has had. I had the Chicken Wings ( half and half buffalo and honey bbq ) and the full rack of Ribs. Both items were super good. The wings were big and juicy. All and all a great overall experience. We highly recommend it.
The best white cheddar bacon mac and cheese I have ever had. The juiciest burgers, BBQ sauce was amazing. And the flourless chocolate tourte (I think it was called) we basically licked the plate clean. I expected it to be good but I couldn’t have imagined how amazing it was! I knew I wanted to leave a review because it was amazing, but forgive the poor writing I’m in a food coma and can’t think about much else but the food.
AWESOME experience at Back 40. Mac & Cheese was excellent. Steak Frites = S-Tier. Textures and flavors were so good. Great portions.
Service was fast given that it was a Saturday night. Our party of 8 didn’t wait at all for our 7:30pm reservation.
Would recommend!
Stopped in for lunch after hiking the falls. Had one of the best French Dip sandwiches I’ve had. The Ajou was not just brown water, but a phenomenal dipping juice. Great service and prices.
It was such a fun place to visit! Love the patio seating. Service is always amazing, and the food is great. This was our first visit with a grandchild. I wish there were breakfast brunch items on the children's menu, such as a smaller portion of French toast, but the children's menu is top-notch.
We went for Mother's Day brunch. The views are amazing, and the feel of small hometown is hard to beat. The host was a beast, but got a great table. Service was lacking... probably because they were so busy, and it was hard to get a refill on coffee. And she didn't check back on us very often. But we still tipped her $100 because no one wants to work on mothers Day. Everyone enjoyed their food. The plates are big portions and we all got super full.
Delicious, huge, juicy burgers, made to order and delicious Parmesan parsley fries! I got the Back 40 Burger... YUUUM!! Would definitely go here again. Also, the view is gorgeous!
We had a wonderful dinner this evening! Every single thing we ate was delicious. My favorite was the Mac N Cheese. Save room for dessert, the Oat Berry Cobbler and the Peach Cobbler were phenomenal. Not only did we enjoy the food but the VIEWS are incredible! Also, the red meat is right from the pasture in the back per our waiter. We were truly eating local tonight. Everything had that homemade taste and feel which is great. Just a heads up, they close from 3:30-4:30 most likely to get things transitioned from Lunch to Dinner. We got there at 4:00pm and had to wait which we didn’t mind but honestly it was perfect because we were first to go in when they opened at 4:30. We also were able to get good parking. It quickly got very busy and I noticed people parking on the side of the road and walking up to the restaurant so get there early if you can! We already can’t wait to come back!
Amazing food and service. Different specials everyday. Great atmosphere and good vibes. If you’re traveling on the 40 this is a must stop for lunch or dinner.
