Firehouse Bakery And Deli

We received a wedding cake from Firehouse bakery. It was very delicious but had two problems. One was they forgot one tier was supposed to be a different flavor, but remembered in time to bake a whole other tier to correct it with no extra charge, so they did fix this mistake. The other was the decoration was not really up to my expectations. She did say she had never done birch tree style before, but I wish she would have recommended another style if she wasn't confident in her ability to pull the birch off. I have included the cake I was hoping it to look like and what ours looked like. Very good cake, sub-par decorating.

My tastes buds were overly satisfied! I tried just about every pastries they have on the shelf and was very satisfied! They were not overwhelmingly sweet, they are fresh and just perfect! The young lady that assisted us was friendly- I think she was overwhelmed because I ordered one of each pastry on display.. but she managed and was happy to assist us again the following day. Definitely a “must go to“ bakery when visiting Hayward Wisconsin!

We have been coming to Hayward for 60+ years and the bakery had become one of our favorite and frequent stops. However, this year we've only been in there twice and I doubt that we will return. I make an appointment to go to the doctor, not to go to the bakery. One of the fun aspects of a bakery is looking at all the treats and deciding what you want this time. I hope someone who really wants to operate a bakery opens one soon here. It's sad because we really do enjoy their bread and pastries.
