Bob's Hoagy Steaks

God, I love this small Korean chain. The Fremont one's been gone for years and the owner has been friends with the Fremont owner for decades. When I asked if they planned to reopen elsewhere, he said that the Fremont owner had retired after the landlord sold off the land for redevelopment and due to an injury. What a shame, what an absolute shame. So on to the food, look, it's not fancy, it might even be best hoagie you've ever had (although mind you, the Bay's always been short on good hoagie spots), but it's good food made by locals. They've done well to keep prices affordable and the quality is more than enough for what you can expect out of a hole in the wall restaurant. This shop was never made for foodies, it was made for simple local people looking for cheap and good eats on a budget, and that's all it needed to be.

The Bob's Hoagy Steak in Fremont recently closed down. Came here with my dad hoping it would be the same. We usually get a 2 piece fish and chips for about $8. We didn't see it on the menu and was told that they are fish fillets. Okay, sure we'll try it. What we got was 2 really small and really thin pieces. All for $12. That's ridiculous. I warn you all not to get the fish. It was overdone, and the breading on the inside was still soggy/mushy. If I ever come back, I'll only be getting their sandwiches.

I have to say that the sandwich was just okay it wasn't all that it was hyped up to be. The fries were okay I like that they give you a pickle with it because it creates a good balance with the peppers in the steak. But like any good food place you're craving more meat for what you pay for. So I'm still searching for a good hoagie spot.
