The food is always on point! Ive been to EVERY soul food restaurant in the east bay and I can say with confidence that southern flavors is the best. Ive never had a bad meal here. I highly recommend stopping by and trying there food.

Went there for dinner the other night. Cool spot for some homestyle good eats soulfood. My wife and I ordered two plates, had trouble deciding from the choices. "Settled on" catfish plate and smothered porkchops plate. The porkchop plate comes with rice and gravy, the other three sides we had were greens-mac and cheese- black eyed peas. Both plates come with cornbread. The gravy was a little on the salty side for my preference and I thought the prices were a little high....untill the food arrived. ALL the food was good and the portions were too big to finish!! This was a definate value with good food all the way around.

Let me just begin saying if good customer service is what you’re expecting here then don’t bother going. Was going to order To-go but they said they only had dine in drinks so I dined in. 3pc wing combo with an extra side was 21 or 22 dollars. Yes for ONE person. I should’ve just gotten the 6pc wing and probably would’ve made it out cheaper since it comes with an extra side. Food took awhile to come out probably about close to 30 min, the restaurant was empty. They didn’t have any ketchup, they were out I guess, the waitress came back when I was 1/4 of the way through my food and said she found some, which was odd I just declined and played it safe with the hot sauce. The waitress warned me the greens where spicy, they were NOT spicy at all, and lacked some flavor-I’d give em 3/5, nothing fantastic but way better than the sweet potatoes. They were extremely..... and I mean extremely sweet. I’m from the south and I know sweet potatoes but DANG- 2/5 I couldn’t have more than a few bites because they were ridiculously sweet, also not as soft as I was expecting. Cornbread was dense and flavorless, super gritty maybe a bit undercooked. 1/5 cause you tried.... The chicken was great! So crispy and just yummy! 5/5 it’s the only thing that saved this place. Probably won’t come back often because it’s cash only which sucks and the customer service is trash, but if I need a little piece of home. This would be the place.

Awesome food and service. •Cash Only• Restaurant.
Good came out fairly quickly. I enjoyed the collard greens (with just the right amount of spice/kick to it) and candied yams. Mouth watering!

Oh that fried chicken! Yummy! Hubby loved the catfish and greens. Moist cornbread and great sweet tea. All for $35!

Everything was too salty and below average , I liked the onion rings the most. Honestly there was no soul in this soul food

This place was awesome. The chicken was great. Large pieces and crispy. Potato salad was very good and unusual. Rice and gravy was something I hadn't had in years. Cornbread also very good. Our food was served promptly, granted the dine in was not busy at 1:30 pm. Out waitress was the owner. Very charming, made recommendation. No doubt tho if you crossed her she'd likely toss you out the door. To me she was a part of the charm of the place. I think their catering is the main business. The dine-in is just an add on. The quality of the food is worth anything you may find unpolished about the experience. Recommend it.
