Review Ocean Star Chinese Restaurant - Hartland

I ordered extra spicy Pad Thai and got pad Thai noodles drenched in soy sauce with no spice. The chicken was also breaded, like the kind they use for orange chicken. They also used a lemon instead of lime and then use a weird onion instead of the chopped green onion Update : I called and said it was soy sauce. He said it wasn’t. I said I got it extra spicy but there’s no spice and he said he didn’t make it extra spicy because it would have been too spicy for me . ?!?!

Great Chinese food and the family that runs this restaurant is very nice. We love the beef and broccoli, chicken with garlic sauce, egg rolls, and won ton soup. The only thing we've ever gotten that we didn't like was the chicken pad thai, but this is not a Thai place so..duh. Good prices and big portions!

First time here, Guy on the phone was quick and ready to get started on your order. Kind of threw me off but!!! The food was perfect and ready in less than 10 minutes. So happy I came. Will be coming back often. Great choice for a carryout night.

My first time visiting this restaurant. I got chicken fried rice and egg drop soup, it was awesome. Food was ready when I arrived for carry out, and was hot when I got it home.

Ocean Star is amazing! There’s a couple running it all by themselves!! Their food is not bland but also not too powerful in taste! It’s truly the perfect balance! Please support them and help them make money so they can hire employees!! Thank you for the great food ocean star!!

Avoid at all costs. ZERO STARS Ordered a dinner that came to less than $10 and they refused to serve me because I was using a debit/credit card. "Cash only under $10." I didn't have cash and they didn't let me buy my dinner. Horrible business model to turn customers away because of their source of payment. Not to mention the food is less than mediocre.

We are new to the area and decided to try this place out- needless to say, we were disappointed. The Beef and Broccoli was pretty good. The fried dumplings had a decent flavor but were too “doughy”. The Pad Thai didn’t even taste like Pad Thai- it was very soupy and had a strange (almost chemical) taste to it. We also had the worst Chicken Fried Rice we’ve ever tasted (think plain white rice with boiled chicken pieces with some peas thrown in) very bland- no seasoning whatsoever. Perhaps some of their dishes are better, but doubt we’ll order from here again.

Called to order some chicken lo mein and dumplings and the guy on the phone just sounded really rude and like he was in a hurry. I told him what I wanted and he practically just said "ok" and hung up on me. Didn't take a name or number or anything. Chicken lo mein was very bland, fried dumplings had okay flavor, but like others have said they have a very doughy consistency. This was the second time I've tried them (gave them the BOTD for the first time) and both times they've had the same consistency. Was very disappointed. Though it was my fault because I ate pretty much all 8 in one sitting, that was probably the first time in years that I had to break a sweat on the toilet and have 9-1-1 on speed dial because my stomach was hurting that bad from all of them. I'll never eat here again.
