Review Wong's Restaurant - Hanapepe

A must stop if you’re on Kauai. Some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. This nondescript place is on the main highway between Lihue and Waimea Canyon. Go to the canyon in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds and on your way back stop here for lunch. Great portions for a good price and did I mention the pie for dessert?!?!?! You can’t go wrong. A local recommended it and they were spot on. Enjoy. Mahalo.

Some really good Chinese! The wontons and pork were very good. There's also a deli inside that has burgers. The Terri burger was very good and juicy. The baked good are also great.

They have really good food on the hot line, like the kau yuk and oyster chicken, but they also have good food on the menu and daily specials too.

Nice whole in the wall place. Dont let the appearance on the outside deter you. Great customer service. GREAT food! The duck is a must have but watch out for the bones. Grab a jar of the hot sauce too.

Their fruit parlor has the best coconut and papaya! Folks are really nice and friendly.

The real local Hawaiian experience!!! It's so hard to find Daimond Head sodas!!! We bought so much there! Portuguese sweet bread, lilikoi butter mochi, somen salad, Chinese pretzels, and an array of custard pie, lilikoi pie, and so much more!!! A very local spot 👌!! Highly Recommended!!

Hanapepe is a very small town so we weren't sure what to expect and the food was great!!! We got a bunch of different things including the oyster sauce chicken, roast duck, and chow mein. For dessert we had the lilikoi chiffon pie - we just got a slice but they sell whole pies- and it is legit the best lilikoi pie we've had on the island so far (we've been staying in different areas for past 2 months). Everything we ate was flavorful and filling. Would absolutely go again if we were here longer. My husband's family had a Chinese restaurant for decades in LA so you can trust our taste, lol.

We stopped here after days of debate, to try the famous lillikoi pie! I would say it tastes something like a key lime pie, what sets it apart is the chiffon style. I personally am a fan of humble hole in the wall restaurants but if you like something with a bit more polish it might not be your spot. Seems like a popular place for local families to hold events, than can be interesting to get to view from afar!

Wong's is an awesome restaurant! The staff are very friendly! The food is excellent! The fried shrimp is the best on the island and everyone working at Wong's truly cares about the clientele. You can't go wrong for Chinese food and the prices are amazing.

Fast counter serve style restaurant, clean space, good food. Nice spot for a quick stop for some local Hawaiian dishes as well as Chinese food. There are a few other places I would recommend before this place, but I wouldn't shy away from going here if you are remotely interested. I tried the chow mein with spare ribs, stir fried veggies, and papaya chicken. Nothing to write home about. I will try the pork tinono or chopped steak plate next time I go.

We always look forward to stopping and having lunch here. This restaurant is family owned. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The deserts here are ONO!

Really bad.... From the consignment sale going on in the front to the luke warm dishes, this place was not going to be a good meal. Service with a smile, but the food was bland, mushy, cold and unappetizing.

Come here for what many consider to be Kauai’s best lilikoi (passion fruit) chiffon pie. I also loved a square cream-puffy item. A cafeteria-style plate lunch is available in a small and informal bakery cafe, while dinner is served in a large open dining room. Wong's is also known for its Hot Bitch Sauce--a housemade vinegary hot sauce with a kick—w
