Today's special was meatloaf and it sounded so good. But, the temptation of the sloppy roast beef was too strong. This poboy lived up to its name, and I had to ask my waitress for lots of extra napkins. Funny thing is the menu says "sliced roast beef" which could basically mean deli meat. But the sandwich was shredded pot roast, which is the right way to do it. I'm pretty sure I won't need to eat dinner tonight.

Everything my family had here was excellent. I would highly recommend da wabitt place to anyone who wants authentic creole food. We will be back. The prices are very reasonable. There is a lunch crowd, but we were seated right away. This place even had liver and onions if you like that. The menus is vast.

Was invited here for a business lunch and glad after the visit. Seems this is an institution in New Orleans food-lore.....to add to the literally hundreds of other food institutions in New Orleans.
Nice bar as you walk in by the way but this was a working lunch. A few in my party of four had been here before and before we even got to the menu said that one of their signature dishes and must haves was the hamburger steak. Being a huge fan of anything remotely related I was in and just dutifully chose my sides of salad and fries.
Now the other menu items I saw coming out looked pretty tasty as well and I will plan another stop in at some point although the Westbank location is not entirely convenient. (All four of us had hamburger steak)
Steak was smothered in mushrooms and onions in gravy, fries were crispy and hot for gravy dredging and the salad was serviceable. Coupled all with iced tea for a great meal to seal a deal. Service was friendly and timely as well.
I have to try more than once to elevate further but am pretty sure it would go higher if and when I do.
Da Wabbit is by far my most favorite restaurant in all of the GNO area. I have brought so many of friends and family here to try out the smoked chicken. Food is very reasonably priced and beer is cheap and cold. Id recommend any app to eat. Hands down best comfort food closest to Momma's. And she even says it's better than hers!
Best fried pork chop platter I've ever had. I have yet to find a place on the east bank that has truly awesome fried pork chops. I have never had bad service here either.
Best restaurant on the West Bank. You can not go wrong with anything on the menu.
Grandparents' favorite restaurant. My grandparents go to Da Wabbitt's at least once a week. He usually gets the special or a fried seafood platter with a cup of gumbo, and she likes the turtle soup with the Italian salad. Both the gumbo and turtle soup are phenomenal, but the sauce was a little too rich for me on the crabmeat stuffed catfish. Any soul food you order here is going to be authentic. Portions are big, so maybe consider sharing. Family friendly.
The fried oysters were the best I've ever had.
Nothing fancy. But nice, clean, updated neighborhood Gretna restaurant with downright good food. Excellent fried chicken. Lunch specials are always good. This place is a winner.
Good Grub!. Nothing fancy, just all around hearty good food. Good gumbo, good beef po-boy. Good meal, great service. This was just across the bridge from NOLA, and worth it.

Exactly what I was looking for...a wonderful "local' restaurant with excellent food and nice people. The staff was very inviting, from the outgoing and charming young hostess, the bartender (I ate at the bar), to the GM. The stuffed Porkchops were delicious!
Well worth the trip across the bridge...
Superlative. The boiled crawfish is my favorite in all of New Orleans. The seasoning and spiciness is spot on perfect, not too much, not too little. Also, the redbeans and rice are perfect and creamy. This is a nice neighborhood joint with consistent quality. They are also accommodating as I was once in the mood for an eggplant parm po boy, so they took the eggplant parm from the menu and subbed it out for me. This is a great joint.
Unreal. My first time became one of many times I have visited this wonderful establishment. I was working in NOLA during Katrina/Rita and the lawyers I was working with decided it was time to take me to their favorite lunch place. Needless to say, I found the food and people to be awesome. I haven't had fired chicken like that before, and it became my number 1 order, although there were many other times I strayed off the path to try something new. It just didn't matter, everything was good and down home, something that was needed after spending a few years away from home.
Cafe of the wabbitt. I've always said " if you want good new orleans food, you have to leave new orleans" and this place is a prime example. authentic new orleanian food prepared by new orleanians. try the stuffed porkchop or the fried catfish or any of their daily specials.
Used to be a "sock hop" in the 50's. And allegedly there are people living in New Orleans today that owe their existence to "Da Wabbit"
See, according to some old timers, Da Wabbit was the hot spot back in the day (Think American Grafitti), when 4th and 5th streets in old Gretna were the main drags
Supposedly there was a secluded spot out back......and that spot "may have been partially responsible for the procreation of westbankers we have today.....
But I digress
The 615 will serve you very very good 'Nawlins neighborhood food (kinda like a westbank version of Liuzzas)

Will Return!. My wife and I had a wonderful meal! I had the BEST roast beef sandwich with gravy in my entire life! My wife had the crab stuffed catfish and she enjoyed it as well. Both dishes were well sized for price. The only thing I wasn't happy with and I may be wrong but I wish my mashed potatoes had been homemade rather than instant which is what they tasted like. Glad I saw this place on Urban Spoon because I doubt I would have found it otherwise.
Food was awesome. We live in Arabi and never heard of this place so we figured we would try it out. Got seated quick even with a packed place, didn't wait long for food, waiter was extremely helpful. I got the Catfish Orleans and my Wife got the Crawfish Etouffee, we split the Spinach and Artichoke, and i think my wife was in heaven with there Chocolate desert. The trip from Arabi to the Westbank was well worth it, i look forward to going back for my Birthday.
Stuffed porkchops are delicious. Crab bisque soup really stands out. Fried catfish is out of this world. Hamburger steak is really flavorfull. Service is prompt. It does get busy for dinner. So show up early. Can't wait to go back!

Great food, loud room!. I love the food at Da Wabbit! Everything I've had here is always consistantly good. Service is usually very good and even though they fill up fast, I've never waits more than a few minutes for a table to open up. I would highly recommend it.
My only complaint is that during lunch or dinner rush, the place is REALLY loud. But that's never stopped me from going.
I find that the quality has gone down and that is why I'm posting.... I used to really like the Sunday at mom's quaility.
Great food. This is the best neighborhood restaurant on the Bestbank. The wabbit is great.
Also it's not that expensive and it really is right off the edge of the highway.
Great food. I had the eggplant parmesan here, which was awesome. In fact, I wish I had begun this Lenten season with Da Wabbitt's eggplants. My friend had the chef salad, which looked premium. Can't wait to try other dishes here!
Classic New Orleans. I love this classic New Orleans neighnorhood restaurant. All the local staples done well, especially the fried seafood. Daily specials are always delicious as well. Great local feel and service. Reccomended.

Excellent comfort food. Ok, this place is not gourmet, it's not fancy, but it's seriously excellent. Full (very full) of locals, Cafe 615 specializes in fried seafood, some Cajun food, and southern home cooking. We ate in the bar in front (this is Louisiana, there is always a bar) and it was a friendly, happy crowd. The service was efficient, even when the place was packed (though they forgot my cole slaw, which I don't like that much anyway). I had fried oysters (and this was in the middle of the oil spill). They were plump and succulent and thoroughly good. My husband had their seafood platter and we both agreed that the catfish was the best of anything on either plate. Fresh, lots of meat, and not over-cooked. Thoroughly satisfying and very affordable. What more can you ask?
BEST OF THE WESTbank!!!!!!. This is the absolute best restaurant to go check out if you are on the westbank. Small, cozy, friendly and just all around awesome.
Da Wabbit has the best crawfish but don't delay because they run out fast!
Da Wabbit.... I have had dinner and lunch here several times and it's always been the same, REALLY GOOD! I love the breaded pork chops, gumbo, eggplant, etc. always consistant always very good. The decore is traditional New Orleans and the service is great. The owner is normally on hand with warm welcomes and steller service.
The goal of Savoie and Buller was to create a family-friendly restaurant serving local staples and premium specials: a quintessential New Orleans restaurant. By all accounts, they have succeeded. This is not your daddy’s Da Wabbit!
I went here for lunch on a weekday. This is a spot where locals go for good food and good service. I took away one star just for the fact that it is difficult to hold conversation here when they are full. It can get loud. I got the fried shrimp platter with fries and Cole slaw. The shrimp had a light batter with plenty of flavor. I will say the coleslaw was not really cold but it was good. Also the house salad on the side was more than sufficient. A good lunch I give it a 3.5.

Always delicious food! Breaded pork chops, muffalatta, onion rings, eggplant sticks are just a few of my favorites.

The prices are a little high for my liking but the food was definitely worth it. They also give you big portions for the price, so yes, I do believe its worth the price.
Quaint Gretna restaurant. Friendly folks, clean restaurant. Went with the Evening dinner crowd. Respecting the social distancing and masks. Had the blackened Tuna and veggies. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Great service and the staff is friendly and accommodating.
